La Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta, Jesuit Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Venice, Italy - the church of our Lady of the Assumption (Santa Maria Assunta) in Venice (La Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta). Let's visit one of Venice's most spectacular church, the Jesuit (Gesuiti) church of our Lady of the Assumption (Santa Maria Assunta church). The glitzy 18th-century Jesuit church of our Lady of the Assumption (Santa Maria Assunta) is difficult to take in all at once, with a spectacular pulpit , white-and-green marble, beautifully decorated walls while the ceiling is a riot of gold-and-white stucco work. Titian's uncharacteristically gloomy Martyrdom of St Lawrence, on the left as you enter the church of our Lady of the Assumption (Santa Maria Assunta), is the highlight of the visit.
The bell tower remains the original one of the previous church (called Crociferi) the bell cell is from 700.
The project map shows a Latin cross, typical of the Jesuit churches, three chapels along the longer side of the cross and 6 more along the central nave (those are separated by small niches probably dedicated to confessions.
Between the chapels there is a magnificent opera by Francesco Bonazza a pulpit of inestimable beauty.

Magnificent structure, both indoors as well as outdoors of the Jesuit Church of Santa Maria Assunta located in Venice Italy. The ceilings are intricately carved and walls magnificently painted. For a 340 year building, this structure in in magnificent condition. The marble floors are just magnificent, ans the columns both indoors as well as outdoors were magnificently created, and taken care of. It is once of the most spectacular created structures in the entire world. The glitzy 18th-century Jesuit church is difficult to take in all at once, with a spectacular pulpit , white-and-green marble, beautifully decorated walls while the ceiling is a riot of gold-and-white stuccowork. Titian’s uncharacteristically gloomy Martyrdom of St Lawrence, on the left as you enter the church, is the highlight of the visit. It must have taken close to 100 years to build this magnificent structure, especially the huge columns that have been intricately carved, and the pulpit ceilings. Wonderful video of this spectacular Jesuit Church of Santa Maria Assunta. There are not very many magnificently structures of this magnitude left in the world, and this structure is being well taken care of. Vic, are regularly held services still being conducted in this church, or is it more of a museum showpiece than a church where regular daily services are still conducted daily. This building is in fantastic condition considering the age of the structure.

What a spectacular and beautiful church!!!! I've never, ever seen anything like this particular church before in my travels, but I've definitely come close when it comes to having visited the cathedral in Glasgow, Scotland in August 2015.

I was in this church last week. It is really special. Your video is nice but it does not reflect the true magnificence of the church. It is so unique. I have seen hundreds of churches in Europe and this one stands out to me! Maybe it is the blue marble or maybe the ceiling but whatever it is, it is a true gem!

Hello Vic, love watching your travel videos. There are a lot of beautiful churches all around Europe, I have seen a lot of them myself. Some of my favorites are the really early ones in the Netherlands, where I grew up. There is one tiny little church here that is my favorite from the 12th century, that is in a very industrialized area now. Seeing such a small and old building on a background of smog and factory's gets to me every single time. Very powerful.

The church is called 'Heveskes kerkje', Heveskes is the village that used to be there, but nothing of the village is left there after 800 years, it is just the church and I think one or two farms. My grandfather worked in one of the factory's many years ago, and he became so ill there that he couldn't work anymore after that job. He worked with chemicals, and ended up dying too soon. Before the 90's the church was almost ready to be demolished, but they decided to fix it up, because of the age, and the beauty of the thing. Here you see a photo of the church with the factory in the background: home.kabelfoon.nl/~jrav/genea/59a5d930.jpg Here you see a picture of the trains carrying industrial equipment that ride infront of it: groningeninbeeld.rtvnoord.nl/content/groningeninbeeld/pics/delfzijl/Heveskes27062005.jpg Here is a picture of what it looked like in the past (the text says 'Greetings from Heveskes'): www.oosterhoek.com/Kerken/images/Heveskes/pastorie/kerk%20Heveskes%20pastorie_clip_image002.jpg I love seeing the history in your travels, this was me sharing part of my history, hope you appreciate it Vic.

Hi Hendrik, thank you for your message. I saw the pictures of the church so beautiful, I would love to videotape it and to upload the video on youtube one day. There are so many churches here in England too, just yesterday I visited a church built around 1190 in the village of Stoke Bruerne and had a chance to go inside. It is used once a month for liturgy (for about 20 people or so)... Here's a picture of the church (scroll down to see the church): www.aboutbritain.com/articles/narrowboat-holidays-grand-union-canal.asp

Vic Stefanu - World Travels and Adventures It is very sad that a lot of these older buildings are sometimes in very bad states, although this church looked like it was very well kept. I'd like to travel trough the UK some day, it seems like a country with a very diverse history, with lots of interesting historical sights to visit.
