I was in Venice for the first time over the weekend, and I literally spent the entire time wandering around down random streets and getting lost--like you said, it's the best activity. Of course, I took occasional breaks to eat and drink. Thanks for posting, great video.

I've been 3 times (once as a study abroad art history student) and love it so much. Always in early summer through. It would be fun to go during winter (as a Canadian) I think. Getting lost is one of my top 10 things to do in Venice! So enjoyable and you can easily find your way back to the main paths with all the signs and it being a small island.

Hello fellow Canadians from Vancouver Island. Love these videos reminding me of what I am going to experience when I am in Venice this spring. Most interested in the Canadian perspective. This trip is an art residency for a full month. Past two trips were just 3 days in Venice each time. Would love to hear more and will watch FoodieTownCA video of your time in Venice. Have also taken an apartment in Florence for a week, conveniently located just steps form the Mercato Centrale, after watching Audrey and Samuel in the market and upstairs in the food court I just got so excited to be able to shop and take back to cook in the apartment or eat some of those tasty dishes offered there, while watching the class in the cooking school of course. Thank you for all the inspiration. Love Italy.

@@kristis61 Perusing the market is a great way to explore the food scene, especially if you have a kitchenette at your disposal. There's are a few great cicchetti bars around the market and into the Jewish Ghetto area. Bar All'Arco, Cantina do Spade, Al Merca, literally so many. Hop around and find the one you enjoy the most.

This great little video brought back so many memories. I have been fortunate enough to visit magical Venice six times since 1987, five of those in winters but there was only snow on the first visit in 1987.The first five were the usual quick one day visit as part of a tour, staying on the mainland. For the last one in 2017, I decided to experience the city properly, so I rented an apartment in Cannaregio for two weeks and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. New Year's Eve was memorable and of course I got to experience so much more than on previous visits (though I did have my 50th birthday there with lunch on Burano on my fifth visit). Going to the supermarket on the vaporetti with a little shopping trolley like a true local was a highlight, as was flying into Marco Polo Airport. The rest of my 2017 trip was a week in Florence (where I celebrated my 60th birthday) and nine days in Rome (where I had experienced New year's Eve on my third trip to Italy and my 30th birthday on my first trip). All these visits to Italy might be linked to throwing coins in the Fontana di Trevi, though I hope not as I didn't do it on the last trip. Thanks for recording your Venice adventure.

We’ve learned to get the vaparetto tickets for the full trip. Riding the canals is my favorite pastime especially at sunrise and sunset... and night! I also meet some of the greatest people on the water bus. It’s so valuable to us that we will pay for a full day even if we are leaving at 10am. You never know when you ‘need’ to get one last ‘noodles to go’ meal! The multi day passes are worth ever euro

Looking for a good sit down meal? Pass by those really close to the biggest tourist sites. Also skip ones with a menu in lots of different languages. They're probably tourist traps, with higher prices, and less care taken with the food since most tourists don't come back. A site to see is the "Scuola Grande di San Rocco". It's off the beaten path, small and exquisite (check it out on Wikipedia). A Scoula is a building for a religious charity association. This one was built in the mid-1500s. It contains some of the best artworks by Tintoretto, a master of the Venetian School of Painting. If big art museums aren't your thing, this might not be too much. It's mostly just one really big upstairs room, but what a room!

The architecture in Venice is so beautiful! I love how you guys give a variety of ideas of where to go (famous places, food, and just tips in general). Though, my favorite tip was your first: wander through the back streets. I love to do this anywhere I go. Just set out on an adventure and see where your feet bring you. Though the islands look a lot more fun than Venice itself (less crowds, which I don't like). I love your videos and can't wait to see where you travel next!

What a gem watching snow and ice in Venice today when almost cooking in the heat in London today ! Your Royal Steward Tartan scarf ,many years ago worked in Tartan shop in London and learned to recognise the paterns. Piers Brosnan worked there too at the same time , wonder if he remembers that time ? I watched you both first in my birth place Krakow. I loved watching you experimenting with all the food , but Venice prices (i found it expensive) not so much. Do a double take in Krakow and call it ......Travel with my dad.
