Easily the best album Mechina has done. And that really is saying something. Personally, The mix of metal, insane orchestral, instrumentals, heavy vocals and clean female vocals mixes into something truly special. I bought this album, just like everyone here should. This band has no where near the support or following they deserve. And by that I am talking quantity of support, because the fans Mechina does have are the best fans anyone could hope for :) Please never stop making music.

I buy everything that they offer, which excludes the stuff they've decided to pull temporarily until they remaster. The Andromeda single is due for a remaster and can't be found anywhere for purchase right now. It's an old release and integral in tying Conqueror and Empyrean together. I simply pirated it to tide me over until the the remaster is up for sale. Speaking of Empyrean... I had to pirate that album while I waited for the v.2 release. In that case, though, the remaster was by far worth it. I wish that they would just offer their v.1/unsatisfactory work up for free download so people like us wouldn't feel like scumbags by pirating those albums or tracks; Empyrean was pulled for quite some time while they worked on remastering it, but I did buy it when it finally came out. I'm doing the same with Andromeda now, but I shouldn't have had to track it down illegitimately. They could've simply offered it for a limited time free hold-over, or at the very least, let us buy it and get a free download to the v.2 when it comes out.

DeeM10123 Nah, they would simply generalize what the band is, then list the subgenres that apply. They do that with many metal bands that break formulas or are a fusion of genres. Unfortunately they usually just label those bands as Extreme Metal (a genre/term that I *hate*), then clarify what subgenres the band adheres to/creates in the article. I'd imagine they'd probably list them as Symphonic Death Metal, Symphonic Industrial, or just slap the label "Extreme Metal" and be done with it.

Empyrean is my favorite album also. I believe this album suffers a bit form too much intrumental, no clean vocals and too little variety on the hevay tracks. still a good album though.

The clean vocals were hit and miss for me. In small doses they were alright, but I felt that they weakened Empyrean with their larger presence there, which was an otherwise fantastic album. I liked a lot of the melodies in the clean parts, but wish there was less distortion added to the voice; this album is better about it.

The 2011 album - Conqueror - was the only GREAT album Mechina made. The follow up, Empyrean, started with the mistake this album takes too far. The music seems OVERPOWERED by the needless, dare I say it, FORCED additions of "operatic" elements. (That is, the "epic sounding choir effects, etc) If these were almost entirely removed, Mechina would very easily be one of the most brutal bands out there. To me, the sound went from great, to simply confused, and now to a complete mess. The vocals are underwhelming. The "Metal" is overwhelmed by the aforementioned operatic elements. It appears they've concerned themselves to much with trying to make the album sound "epic", and instead, ended up making the album sound mostly unnecessary. This is not metal anymore. Where's the sound I fell in love with in 2011?

+Archon0003 Mechina's music is essentially a theme that plays to their story; and it's a perfect fit. Symphonic Metal isn't "taking over metal"; hell I could probably only name 10 symphonic bands, of which only a handful of that are actually good. Mechina isn't looking to be "totes bruuuutaall, bro". If you want that, then there's half a million industrial, nu-metal, and metalcore bands out there, brought to you by Hot Topic.

+Archon0003 I get where you're coming from. But, this is still a great album. Not my favorite of Mechina, but still really great. Their best, imo, is Xenon. It had a perfect balance of metal and epic symphony, especially towards the end of the album. Acheron is their least heavy album, which I think is purposefully done for what's happening in the plot.

You are right, this record is like accidentally playing two different records at the same time. One is a cinematic TSFH soundtrack, or something like that, the other is a tech-death record. I cannot decide whether the end-result is a mistake or genious... I would still say that this is mistaken. The right way to do this is, for instance, Atoma.
