*Venom Comic Origin:* So in the comics Venom's origin is VERY much connected to Spider-Man. Peter Parker first encounters the Symbiote during the Secret Wars event, which ran from May 1984 to April 1985. This was a massive crossover where the world’s greatest heroes and villains were teleported to Battleworld to fight each other. After one of the battles, Peter’s Spider-Man suit is damaged, so he visits the lab of Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic of the Fantastic Four. While in the lab, Peter finds a tube containing the Symbiote, which bonds with him, forming the now-iconic black suit with the white spider emblem. In Spider-Man comics it would first appear in Amazing Spider-Man #252, released in May 1984, marking the suit’s debut. After the heroes return to Earth, Peter continues wearing the suit through several issues of Amazing Spider-Man. However, by Amazing Spider-Man #258 (November 1984), Peter grows suspicious of the suit and takes it to Reed Richards for analysis. Reed reveals that the suit is actually a living organism, a Symbiote which freaks Peter out. Using a sonic device, Reed forces the Symbiote off of Peter, but it later follows him home and reattaches itself. Realizing the Symbiote won’t let go, Peter heads to a church tower and uses the sound of the bells to forcefully remove it. Unbeknownst to him, Eddie Brock is in the same church. Brock, who blames Spider-Man for ruining his journalism career after Peter exposed the true identity of the Sin-Eater (in Amazing Spider-Man #300, May 1988), becomes the Symbiote’s next host, transforming into Venom. *Movie Changes:* The biggest change, of course, is the removal of Spider-Man from the story, both for Eddie Brock and Venom. I’m not sure why that is, but Sony seems to have this whole thing going on right now with movies based on Spider-Man characters that don’t actually feature or even reference Spider-Man. Because of that, Venom doesn’t have the iconic white spider symbol on his chest, although he still looks great in the film, it’s just missing that signature detail since Venom in this film never bonded with Spider-Man. The intro of the film does pull inspiration from the 90s Spider-Man: The Animated Series. That show took the storyline from the comics but ditched the whole Secret Wars crossover. Instead, they had the Symbiote come aboard a space shuttle that was collecting samples. On the way back to Earth, the Symbiote breaks free and takes over the pilot, causing the shuttle to crash on a bridge in New York. Spider-Man shows up to help, and the Symbiote sneaks onto Peter, eventually bonding with him and giving us the black suit. From there, the show sticks pretty close to the comics. The movie also features J. Jonah Jameson’s son as one of the astronauts, just like the show did. Another big change is the setting. The early Venom storylines all took place in New York since that’s where Eddie worked and where Spider-Man was based. But in the film, we see Eddie working in San Francisco after leaving New York. Venom arrives, and the two have their origin story unfold in this new location. This is actually inspired by the 90s Lethal Protector storyline from the comics, where Eddie and Venom agree to leave New York and head to the West Coast, with San Francisco becoming a key location for them. Eddie and Venom then become lethal protectors, heroes who still kill but also save people who need help.

43:25 - I'm sure many people will mention it, but that was the legend Stan Lee, creator of many of the most famous Marvel comic book characters (Spiderman, X-men, etc). He has a cameo in nearly every Marvel movie.

The animation at the end was a scene from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), an incredible animated film that won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. It's not just the best Spider-Man film of all time, it’s also one of the best superhero movies released in the past few decades. It's the best thing Sony has done with Spider-Man in the past decade, along with Across the Spider-Verse (2023).

inna, in the comic books, i think venom comes from an alien symbiote that spiderman finds in the comic book, the Secret Wars (1984) when he goes to another planet and he comes back with a suit made of a black alien symbiote that makes him stronger, then the suit separates from him and becomes his own character , but he still looks like spiderman, that is why he looks like spiderman in this movie, even though spiderman isn't in this movie.

San Francisco used to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Now it's literally a shit hole (there are apps to show people which sidewalks are covered in poop).
