As a teenager in the 90ies I got the "old" 'Welcome to hell' album just for the cover and I liked the raw charme and distortion of this early black metal! As Miotörhead for speed and trash metal Venom was quite relevant for Black Metal.

Venom was definitely a precursor to black metal but to call them a black metal band is as silly as calling motorhead a black metal band.
