Better yet - The Animorphs book series. I mean seriously. An army of alien parasitic slugs who have taken over multiple other alien species, whose enemies are the Andalites, proud centaur-like creatures with the technological power to morph. The Yeerks invade Earth secretly, taking over human minds and are so convincing that the hosts' closest friends and family can't even tell the difference. The Andalites try to fight but are taken down in orbit. One of the last surviving Andalites, war-prince Elfangor, gives five human children the power to morph and fight against the Yeerks. Jake, the leader, whose brother Tom is a human-Controller (Yeerk host). Marco, a jokester whose mother supposedly died years ago, his dad is a wreck, the financial state of his household is in shambles, and suddenly he finds out his mother's death was staged and she is really Visser One of the Yeerk invasion. Rachel, a salty fashionista with divorced parents and a love for fighting, who later goes pretty much insane. Cassie, a girl who cares for wild animals and hates the violent fight against the Yeerks the most. And Tobias, whose parents are both gone and he lives with his neglectful and abusive aunt and uncle. He was the first casualty of the Animorphs. If you stay in a morph past two hours, you don't come out. Ever. The Animorphs barely manage to keep the Yeerks from advancing on against the human race, and they can't ask for help. They don't know who could be a human-Controller, and don't want to put their friends or family in danger either. The Yeerks think they're just Andalite bandits who survived, and the Animorphs would prefer to keep it that way. Because if the Yeerks find out that they're just un-trained preteens, the whole planet is at stake. TL;DR - You need to do a review of the shitty Animorphs TV show once the graphic novels come out in 2020, is what I'm basically saying.

@cjwrench074 жыл бұрын
The problem is we don’t see ANYTHING of why the old lady and young girl: -never aroused suspicions with their any of their actions, especially a missing young white girl in America. -took so long to get to SanFran, or even had the money and ability to travel there. - somehow knew to go to the company’s SanFran HQ, and not any of their other buildings, legal east coast rocket launching facilities, or dedicated R&D facilities. [any smart company/scientist would keep an intelligent alien goo, that can easily infect people’s bodies, inside an *isolated* Level 4 Biohazard lab/building, at minimum] - how come neither of them had any of the semi-autonomy(ability to speak for 1), that every other successfully blended person did? Or, if they did, why did both go along with following the alien voice in their head without question? - why didn’t anyone set off an alarm when they saw a young girl killing security and scientists: at the gate, on the main level, and all of the subsequent levels until she somehow got to the secured symbiote testing level? These are some of the questions I had to ignore to enjoy this movie, but I did fully enjoy it overall.

in hindisght , the spite makes sense, and the "addiction to the symbiote" he basically developed (most obvious when after getting the symbiote out he acts in a withdrawal state), BUT in hindsight.... shouldn't he getting the symbiote should have made him realize "huh. that' explains a lot"? (I know that scene is easily fixed with a minor dialogue of venom saying just 1 or 2 lines to easily convince Eddie, and we understand why that works. because he is already bonded). ALTHOUGH i will always give that venom this: h has the best reason why would he call himself venom. Although spectacular spider-man's venom loes points for me due to how his plan for exposing peter's identity was just entering the bugle, yelling "peter parker is spider-man" and apparently leaving the building (given next episode immediately starts with peter being interviewed by the bugle staff). I kow status quo, mind games and all..... but really? that was his start? not even attacking peter or the staff?
@ztslovebird5 жыл бұрын
Ian R. Nava Huber Fair points. If Eddie had been calm, he might have realized all the times Peter or Spidey “ruined his life” were accidents or the result of a teenager making bad decisions in the heat of the moment. But he was already pissed, so hearing the “best friend” who kept showing up & the hero who kept sabotaging his work were one & the same may have led him to the incorrect conclusion that Peter was using his double life to make Eddie miserable. And while exposing Peter’s secret identity doesn’t sound all that intimidating, Eddie was probably banking on all the news channels digging up every possible scrap of dirt in Peter’s life to ruin his credibility. Beating Spider-Man to a messy pulp is easy & a short-lived victory. Trashing his name, ruining his reputation, putting him under the merciless scrutiny of the 24 hour news cycle & the Internet? That shit can last forever.

eventyraren The Klyntar story arc kind of retcons that to make Venom more sympathetic and explain why he swaps to the hero side more organically. The Klyntar used to be happy with a symbiotic relationship with various species and absorbing their cultures into their own until their leader bonds with a hero who harbored a dark side. It introduces megalomania to the Klyntar and the entire species starts assimilating rather than co-existing. Venom chooses he would rather retain the old ways than follow the brood and he’s sealed in a meteor and sent to drift in space forever.

Iskalde Edemark The Eddie Brooke Venom considers himself a hero and Spider-Man the villain. But it’s delusional and he is murdering people for minor crimes. He is an evil mirror to Spider-Man, but out for a bloody crusade with zero real moral compass. I think the original Venom was a great villain with a well established agenda, clear flaws and a fitting form of evil. But yeah, it all hinges on him being delusional, which is not the case in this movie, this movie clearly intends Venom to be a hero, not a villain, hence cutting away all his dark sides.
@olserknam5 жыл бұрын
@@palaniuki Well, you're almost right. Eddie did in fact kill innocents in his first real appearance, Amazing Spider-Man #300. He regretted it even back then, but said "it was necessary if it a part of him punishing the Spider-Man" (keep in mind that back then Eddie Brock was written as a raving lunatic). Eventually this was sorta swept under the rug, Venm gradually got a more defined moral code and shifted into anti-hero territory (though he was still often written as a delusional lunatic; remember the lobster scene from the movie? I... honestly would say not. Sure, they could have shown a lot more in terms of violence, show actual blood splatter and gore. But if it still had the same story, plot, and characters, then it would have ended up the same, just with people citing it as ten-times edgier and filled with grotesque, uncensored violence. The story, characters, and writing needed a lot of work, it felt super rushed like they were just hopping from point A to point B with no stops. It was like the director was saying, "screw pacing and taking our time building up the dynamic between these two characters, we got to bullet-point this sh*t!" There's no levity, there's no time to breathe. There's no time given for these characters to grow and understand each other. As Critic explained, there's really is no reason for Venom to go from unstoppable hunger of death and destruction, to "I like you, let's save the world, pal." A-Rated R version would just show a lot more of the blood and carnage, but it wouldn't fix the more prominent issues with this movie, sadly.

Despite its flaws, this was a fun and enjoyable movie, and I'm looking forward to its sequel. Overall, I give it an 8/10.

Okay, I feel like this had to be said so everyone can understand. I saw this movie with my friend a year ago, when it was first released. And they had told me that this movie was set in a universe WITHOUT Peter Parker a.k.a Spiderman! Eddie and venom's character and their development relied on Spiderman because it was him that brought them together! Peter Parker, who had taken away Eddie's job and caused him to resent the superhero. And Venom, who was Spiderman's first host but was rejected. When Eddie and Venom found each other, they used their hatred of Spiderman as a common ground for them to work together to bring the superhero down. But, there is no Peter Parker or Spiderman in this universe. This movie is set only on Eddie's point of view and in his world! So of course the story and the characters are going to change because they do not have the triggered Spidey to bring it to life. Not to mention, even though people are offended by the fact that it wasn't truly based off the comics, again, the comics are based off of Spiderman universe, and you can't be in said universe if you do not have Spiderman! Meaning that Eddie, Venom and even Eddie's ex-girlfriend would act differently because they had different lives and different outcomes. Like in the 90's Spider Man Animated series. The symbiotes, mostly Venom, was brought to earth by JJ. Jameson the third but the rocket crashed into the Golden Gate bridge. Spiderman went there to save the astronauts but got infected with Venom. However, because there was no spiderman or J.J Jameson, that meant that the story had to changed. And that was only the beginning. Don't even get me started on when the Rhino came and Eddie took pictures of Spiderman "Robbing" the space shuttle. Again, this was only from the animated cartoon and I do not know how much canon that was from the comic. But the point is, not everything is going to 100% from the source material. Especially when creating a world where the main plot device (Spiderman) is not present. I thought the movie was a bit silly, especially now looking at this review. But I still liked it. And yes, there might have been some material that they glossed over that they could have put in here without needing to reference Spidey. However, they did have to change a lot for the characters and story to fit into this new universe. Plus, they may add in more of Eddie's backstory if and when they end up making a sequel or at least find some way to tie in venom into future Marvel crossover movies. I just had to get that off my chest to inform you all.

Joker: mostly ignores the unclear origin of the character for a new story that nails the core themes of the character Venom: mostly ignores the very clear and expanded upon origin of the character for a new storyline that misses the core themes of the character I'm just saying venom had it spelled out for them and they screwed it up whilst Joker had very little to work with and was successful.
@DragonKnightX125 жыл бұрын
No, this a lot like the more recent comics. Venom with Eddie became more of a Anti-hero with a strict code not to harm innocent bystandars, just Spider-man. It's just that with out Spidey.
@weeaboojones24515 жыл бұрын
I don't think they actually understood the Joker character that much, I mean they made him look like an antihero who cares about the outcasts and he became the Joker as a result, when in reality the Joker is just a fucked up entity with no resemblance of human emotions, it was a decent movie with an interesting tone tho. Yeah you could say that Joker was different in White Knight, but that's a whole different story and he had been cured of his insanity.
@RandomCorvid5 жыл бұрын
I think that is because they could not keep to the core themes of venom while making it another teen friendly anti-hero story. Venom is the story of a serial killer with Dissociative Identity Disorder and the urge to eat his victims, just add monster goo abilities and you got it.

Uhh.. Technically the bit where Venom mentions he was basically bullied on his homeworld and he wasn't popular was technically correct. In the comics Venom was ostracized on his world. This was mentioned in the comics prior to the movie's release.

I am a massive comic book/Spider-Man fan, and I LOVED this movie! It wasn’t trying to be a super gritty and complex venom story like the ones we’ve gotten in recent years, it was paying homage to the kind of goofy, cornball version venom from the 80s to the early 90s who sings “Strangers in the Night” and the Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood theme song. I remember Venom for being the lethal protector who OCCASIONALLY fought Spider-Man, not the guy who fought Spider-Man and occasionally did good. Magneto is the X-Men’s archenemy. It is often argued if Venom is Spider-Man’s archenemy and he has various solo series depicting him as an anti-hero rather than a villain while Magneto is seen as just a villain so comparing him to venom doesn’t work. And once you think about it, Spider-Man and Venom have teamed up more than they’ve fought. I like you guys’s videos and all, but I don’t think you really understand classic Venom the way you think you do. (Also Venom wasn’t super dark in the original source material. Like I said a minute ago, Venom was a freaking cornball.) (Also (again) why is She-Venom appearing before you even though she killed herself?)
@operationstratos10135 жыл бұрын
This goofy Venom is pretty fun to watch, especially the “like a trud...in the wind” part. It’s basically Venom saying: “I like good people, but I also like to eat people. So if you don’t to be eaten, you will NOT prey on the innocent, and you will stay good with your hands in pockets. *awkward silence * On second thought, you can stay bad, so I can eat you.”

Yeah, like hasn't Venom at least Eddie Brock's Venom really been a anti hero for a longer time than he was just a villian? So I got to disagree with Critic saying people remeber Venom for mostly being a spiderman villian who sometime tes up with him.

I mean especially right now it seems like spiderman and venom while they still fight over the way Venom operates, don't really fight anymore.

I never read the comics or the old shows but I agree with you still I really liked the film (and the original spider-man trilogy). He mentioned how Eddie Brock became a VILLAIN in the comics but the movie has him as an antihero I also actually liked when he said something out of place like "aww that's nice" because it was really funny hearing it come out of his voice. Also the he asks why they were friends all of the sudden when all they did was go at each others throats when friends do that all the time.
