@Michael Atkinson It actually quite true to the period of time when Venom first became a anti-hero in the 90s, which was a run of mini series after mini series. To be frank Eric Carter gets so many details wrong (like Eddie's original job being a photographer, which he wasn't, instead he was a journalist for the Daily Globe) and fails to realize they are going with the 90s anti-hero characterization, (Fun fact Eddie has been anti-hero for far longer than his run as a villain) I highly doubt he has read the comics. At best he read the Ultimate line.

Venom surely had a...Rocky start to say the least. I REALLY enjoyed the movie. Venom is my favorite Anti Hero in Marvel. I loved every second of his dialogue and appearances with Eddy. But it is certainly not without it's flaws. I'm hoping the director for the next Venom takes our criticisms seriously and improves on the next one

I was excited for Venom and I couldn't wait to see the movie. When I finally watched it, it wasn't what I thought it would be. I was expecting this movie to have a horror-like feel. It's crazy that after Venom came out it made a lot of people respect Spider-Man 3 more for portraying Venom/Eddie Brock slightly more accurate than Venom in terms of origin and motivation. Like you said Spider-Man 3 was not the best depiction of Venom, but it was something that stuck slightly more truer to the character rather than cash grabbing Venom.

It was pretty clear that Sony pencilled in venom in Spider-Man 3 only because the fans love them as neither the director nor the crew seemed to really care about the character that much. Spider-Man 2 was made by Sam Raimi. The studio kept their fingers out of the production. As soon as they started to put their hands into the production, we got Spider-Man 3. I am not saying that we can't get good comic book movies from Sony. I'm just saying that we can't get good comic book movies when Sony start putting their hands into the production and take control away from the filmmakers.

18:37 The point of Venom staying bonded to Eddie was because he was the most suitable host he could find, and even states he can't let Eddie die or else he dies as well. In this movie, Venom would have no practical reason to mentally fuck with and torture Eddie. This portrayal of the character is more in tune with what he originally was, he was an alien organism that took on Spiderman's more heroic attributes when it bonded to him and the only reason it was fucking insane in the first place was because it bonded to deadpool before hand.

I understand all the gripes Eric has in this video- he’s right by most all accounts . But look at what we have had to compare them to ... lately mcu has Justin been cranking out these masterpieces . Venom in its own right also was entertaining in my estimation . I lean to give it a lil more credit than Eric does. It was fun and exciting to watch as a casual marvel fan . From a die hard perspective it leaves a little more to be desired , I totally see what hes talking about . Venom was still a good movie to watch between avenger films . Good day . From what I’ve read of it, Sony is planning to make Venom even more of a superhero in Venom 2 and with a spider man cameo......I actually felt sick when I read it. This movie was a bad idea from the beginning. The only reason why this movie exists is because Sony got credit for homecoming and started to think that they were back in business with superhero movies. I didn’t even get the feeling when I first saw the trailer that “this seems like a good upcoming movie”, mostly because Sony spoiled all the plot points in the trailer. With for an example the dark phoenix trailer it’s like “I don’t get the full picture of it, it’s more like I’m watching through a keyhole” 😂.
