I've been landscaping 15 years and have to say this is quite impressive. It's very similar to the Steiner mower we have, but no longer use. It's multi-functional and very diverse and agile. Some of the slopes we deal with are very steep with plateaus and can only be cut side to side so the angle get pretty hairy. The Steiners are out of service, so I have to use a Husqvarna that doesn't have the same wide stability. It's nerve-wracking to say the least when the tires begin to come up off the ground or when you start sliding down a hill due to insufficient traction. Any moisture whatsoever and you're going for a ride. I'll have to run this machine by the boss to see what he thinks. Thank you for posting.

Im from Ohio where Steiner is from. Been around them for years, love them. Used 420s and 430s. Great machines, But Ventrac is the old school Steiner brothers new machine. The sold Steiner in 90s and now are Ventrac. Love the 430 Max, but if I were to buy one today I would get the Ventrac 4500 over the Steiner 440. I love Steiner attachments but the 440 is half the machine of the Ventrac, sorry Steiner but the 440 not impressed, should have done more field testing and feedback. Bothe Ventrac or Steiner need to listen to there customers And produse A 430 size tractor. We all dont on golf corses and want A affordabe nimble tractor for home use, just throwing that out there.

When you go into these high weeds and brush, what happens when you hit a rock/stump or piece of discarded metal?
@ventrac6 жыл бұрын
The blade will usually just skip off of the object. If the rock, metal, etc. is big enough it can stop the blade in which case one of the drive belts will slip to help prevent damage of more expensive components like spindles. If this happens, immediately hit the PTO switch, and back away from the obstruction before any further damage is caused. Then, turn the machine off and inspect the deck for damage to make sure it is still operational before proceeding.

I appreciate the design of this and what it can do, but most of the time I fail to see the actual reason for cutting brush like that. Unless you are >using< the cleared out land for crops, animal pasture etc, I get it. Even if it's just for promoting the growth of endangered species plants that require a poorer soil (mow & collect). But al that often happens is mowing several times a year, and leave the mulch to be reabsorbed. If I wasn't using parts of my land, I'd just leave it for the birds and other animals, or mow perhaps once a year and collect the cuttings.

@mikel95677 жыл бұрын
Well for starters your not helping anything by leaving it. The overgrowth can choke out other plants, prevent germination, promote invasive species and deter wildlife in addition to being an eyesore and creating a substantial fire risk. Attitudes like yours and other environmentalists have caused more hard to our environment than good. Our environment was designed to be used and enjoyed not left to grow unchecked. But what do I know, I only see the effects of the environmentalists every year when I go up to the wildfires.
@mikel95676 жыл бұрын
You realize that if you let brush become overgrown, it can choke out other plant life and prevent wildlife from coming into the area. Tired of all the people who bash on brush cutting, the simple truth is "environmentalists" have caused more harm than good.

So who owns who? This is essentially the same machine as a Steiner that has been around for years. Does Ventrac own Steiner or does Steiner own Ventrac. Or did Steiner's patent run out so Ventrac copied their design?
@ventrac5 жыл бұрын
Neither. We are completely separate companies, with no affiliation to each other. Steiner was just acquired by Doosan of Korea. As far as patents go, it's actually the other way around.... There are patented things about our machines that are advantages and can not be copied.
@eddiehauenstein12015 жыл бұрын
@@ventrac look at the attachments from Steiner, The loader bucket, the blower attachment, the trencher, as well as a lot of the things about the tractor itself. It sure seems as though somebody is being copied.
@ventrac5 жыл бұрын
@@eddiehauenstein1201 Yeah, that's totally understandable. Think of it like a truck or car from two different brands. They're basically identical.....except totally different. Conceptually, the Ventrac 4500 and the Steiner 450 are quite similar, but nearly every part of the machine and the execution are completely different. If you look at our attachment lineup, we have a more extensive range and we have some attachments that they don't. We also both have other machines in our product range that the other doesn't. The trenchers, blades, loaders, etc. all look similar because the trenchers, blades, loaders, etc. look similar from all companies that sell them in this size class. We're just friendly competitors - that's it :) . Also, if you're interested in the History at all, Ventrac has been around since 1996 - so we're over 20 years old. And we've been located in Ohio the entire time.
