Ventures forever baby!! Thunder are a close second but when you like loose trucks nothing compares to ventures. That delayed turn really helps us loose truck riders - less wheelbite.

Pretty stoked to hear you speak so well about these. Since way back in the day, when everyone was split between Indys and thunders, I always rode ventures and the 5.6s are right in my sweet spot. I tend to like pretty laid back decks like Real or Antihero 8.25s with pretty small wheels (50s) so these are high enough for me to still get some sick pop but low enough to keep me stable. I like the slightly wider base too for silky smooth hill bombing 😅 nothing worse than snaking yourself into an asphalt sandwich 🤣🤣 I've tried indie stage 11s and thunder mids but this truck still does it for me like no other 👌👌👌

I like my Tensor Mag Light TENS a lot, but they are a very low truck. So if you're riding a pretty mellow tail and nose board, it might be a bit harder to get high pop. It's by no means impossible, especially with something like a Powell Peralta Flight deck that pops great despite the fairly mellow concave overall, but you might want to use them on steeper decks especially. Of course, if you're getting a lot of ghost pops on your current setup, these Tensors might be an excellent choice. On the plus side, the trucks are of course very lightweight, which does make them pretty good for anything that flips (I mean, technical stuff, flat ground etc.). The metal used seems a bit less rough and tough than the Venture Hi V-lights I've got, but this is kind of a good thing in grinds actually. Less resistance or something, not entirely sure. I also have no issues with them turning, pretty much better than the Venture Hi V-lights, although to be fair with broken in bushings I really have no issues doing tight turns on those either. And as a beginner I ride them slightly more tight than medium. It might be more of a wheelbase thing anyway, than the maximum angle these trucks can turn, as modern trucks all pretty much turn _very close_ to the same and at the same time hardly anyone uses the maximum turn anyway.

Totally unrelated but I've never considered a truck being a point of either hurting or helping my skating, recently I feel like perhaps I'm going backwards but after this I think back and I progressed the most on thunders, had a pair of aces and I liked them but I was having a hard time with certain grinds then got some indys and it's starting to feel normal again. I think I'll grab a pair of thunders and ventures and keep them. I'm always giving my stuff away to the kids at the park. I'm only gonna do that with old decks now 😂😂😂

Charging into those big spins haha. Well I set up my 8.0 for the park setup this weekend and I was not disappointed, it’s early so we will see how the pop lasts but so far I love these generator boards. I could use a little more concave but it’s totally not a deterrent at all. Thanks for all the work you put in and inspiring young and (mostly) old alike to get on the board. Or get back on the board.

You've for me recording measurements now. My thunder Sonora Hi 147s are 333 grams only slightly used. Just bought some thunder light 149s and they came in at 348 grams which seems counterintuitive but they are also 7/8" wider. Another note: the lower forged base plate on the thunder lights left my axle height at 2" even where as my Sonoras were 1.875. Thanks for turning me into a nerd Ben.

Hey! This was really good review and alot of information that helps me understand skateboard trucks better! Few years ago i started ride skateboard again and i tryed element 8.0 board with thunder lights 147 trucks! Somehow i tryed 2 pair of spitfire 51mm wheels and the board was just behaving strange! I then updated the board to a real, ishod wair 8.0, dubble tail board and 50 mm wheels. The pop was way better! But it was always something sketchy about the trucks! And after i looked my videos i noticed i land all my flips in rocket style! So then i tryed to ride wider board: 1 year later i got thunder hollow lights 148mm with ishod wair dubble tail 8.25 mm wide board & 52mm ricta slim wheels. This was way better setup and i landed my flips way better! But still today the feeling when standing on board feels (strange). So i did watch your video and order venture hollow, 5.6 trucks!!!! I really look forward to set these trucks on my dubble tail 8.25 board & 52 mm wheels and see if it feels better!!!! I can strongly recomend those bones swiss bearings (the expensive ones) Specially for the (secret weight they have). I feel like these bearings make skateboard feel more stable and i lost alot of fear/worry about many tricks!

How the Ventures feel
@Filip1ve
@Filip1ve 2 жыл бұрын
@@jouhajohnny Hello! I tryed 147 and also 148 thunder trucks and i had alot of problems with the bushings! It felt really weird to stand on the board! Then i got high 5.6 venture hollow lights with 8.25 april board. I then tryed the hard bones bushings and felt way better and stable when standing on my board! After skating a couple of months with this setup (venture high 5.6 hollow lights & 8.25 april board) i felt like both trucks and board were to wide for me. So i got 8.125 april board and got high 5.2 high venture light trucks! Again im using the same bones hard bushings and also 52mm bones slim street formula 99 wheels! I feel stable on my board but i feel that the board follows my body when i do flips alot more then before! So i defenetly look forward when the new season arrives so i can skate more with my new setup! I think its up to each rider to discover what works best for them, what size of board, trucks and wheels work or what brand of trucks to use! I been skating on thunder trucks 3 years and skated on venture trucks only a couple of months. Good luck!

@@Filip1ve Nice 👍🏼 I recommend trying to find Deluxe Supercush bushings in the same hardness as the bones because Bones bushings change the geometry of the trucks. Use those deluxe supercush bushings and the stock spacers on them and I think they will feel more stable than bones. I ride 5.6 V-Hollows with 88d Deluxe Supercush bushings and they feel so good. Btw those Deluxe Supercush bushings are the same as the stock ones but they have more hardnesses available 88d to 99d I think. Ventures come with 94d bushings

got 2 sets of 6.1s and a pair of 5.0s otw for a 27" cruiser. Im still waiting on some pro edition v/hollow 6.1s once i grind through a set of 6.1s to try that forged baseplate and weight change. I like the 53.5mm height bc i havent adapted to the stage XI indys. Still riding out my stage X hanger and stage 9/X baseplates which are 53.5mm. For me the venture bushings are a bit of a mystery the white kateder bushings were too soft/much wheelbite. The stock clear yellows on my second set turn perfect and dont need bones/hards conversion or risers. Just receantly got the REAL wooden risers that are supposed to be perfectly made for ventures ill try those out for a bit. For me ventures have the best lock in/pop out feel for grinds/slides/manuals like amazing response esp when the hangers are grinded down and have a huge flat spot to balance for fliptricks mid grind. Still waiting for a 8.75" axle ace. As far as venture/indys though if i try anyones board with indys or ventures its like im not even riding someone elses setup. Very comfortable trucks to skate. For big spin variations, or full cabs or bs 360s....there really is nothing like the pop/spin feel of ventures. And here i thought 159 indys had those tricks dialed in for me. You can really generate the right amount of force on the mid tail/run for these big spins to really scoop and get some real air/pop on them vs the basic flic most people do for regular and fs big spins. 180s in general with ventures feel so good to pop and land squared ventures just have this overall feel when popping and landing bolts that indys or no other truck bring. It really brings a signature street style/feel when you stomp a fat bs 180 off a curb cut or bs flip or bigspin

Venture 5.6 Titanium HI are the same height as 6.1 team HI. The 5.6 Titanium has a forged baseplate and the 6.1 standards have a cast baseplate. Cast baseplate looks thicker. However, the axle are matched exactly even level. Not too sure about you're statement about the hollows being 52mm or 53.5mm. I'm sure it's Forged as it looks different and have a 5.2 V-hollow lo with same forged baseplate. Regardless, it's good to see you enjoying them! Hope I get to enjoy the 5.6 when the time comes! Ace and Indy’s have held it down for there turning radius’s. Now not for nothing Thunder and Ventures are great for tech and gnar rail chompers. I think and this has been my evidence that the metals on these two trucks has always been an issue.

Good inside about how tippy a truck feels before it turns. That was one thing I don’t like about my indys, but interestingly enough I had been wondering why my manuals were better on them. These have reached the upper level of the truck pantheon for me. They're more or less my go-to on flatter decks. It's just a happy medium between everything and I've actually grown to like the little lag time between the lean and response, it makes me feel more comfortable when I'm setting something up and my balance is all goofy. If you're a longtime venture low rider you should try mini logos.. I know you lose cool kid points for riding them but no one else is making low trucks past 8" to my knowledge, and I really like the snappy pop and how stable you feel on a low truck.

I have been on thunders for several years after being on Venture. Unbeknownst to me Venture made a truck for 8.25 decks. I switched to some 5.2 Venture los for my new fav size deck: an 8.25. My brain is telling me this is wrong to have set up like this with there being a 8.25 specific truck on venture now. Am I being a baby with madness and there isn’t anything wrong with it. Don’t want to go down in board size.

It's been in the mid to high 90s here so I haven't really felt like getting out and skating much. I think I may set up a different complete though. I have a Fancy Lad deck(8.75) I got recently and my old indies, old lockins, and my old bearings, could be interesting to see if I like Thunders or Indies more. Ben thanks for all the videos, I've enjoyed watching your stuff over the last couple years. I'd love to hear your thoughts on overall height on a setup. Maybe a video where you compare two setups. Have the board and bearings be the same for both setups, but in setup A have low trucks with smaller wheels, and in setup B have higher trucks with bigger wheels. Could even have the wheels be of the same make and model, just different sizes.

Did you notice a ”gap” between the board and the forged baseplate on the Venture 5.6? I don’t know if it even makes a difference or if it’s due to my boards having a large wheelbase combined with the venture baseplate that does not have “centered” holes for the hardware. What I mean by “gap” I mean that the baseplate is not connected fully to the board on the side closest to the tail/nose.

I used to have a pair of Venture back in 2005 , my set-up was a Mystery deck 7,625" , mini logo bearings and pig wheels , but someone stole my Skateboard. 😞. So I went to buy a new set-up and I rode Fury Trucks Arto Saari pro model , bones wheels and PlanB board. Around 2012 I had Royal trucks but they are not that great, they seemed a cheap copy of Indy, so in 2015 I quit Fury and Royal and I decided to try Indy which I stick with now. But I will rebuy some Venture at some point.
