If Toyota makes this truck available in the U.S. at something close to the talked about price, Ford and Chevy will be put out of business. Because, they will find out that the country doesn't necessarily want over priced huge trucks. What we want is an affordable truck that can get the job done.

I drive a pickup and it’s twice what I need, except that it’s exactly what I need if I want to be able to see around every other giant vehicle on the road. I miss my old 84 4cyl manual mazda. I got like 100k miles out of that thing for $3G’s but my eyeline today in that thing would be tailgate high on my current ride.

@@MC-24Today i have a 84 Land Cruiser whitout any eletronics and a modern Kia car whit a lot off eletronics. Of course the Kia is more confortable but, if something broke i can't even imagine how expensive is gonna be. And the Land Cruiser, well there is not much to broken

Absolutely! I got hooked in 88 when my luv broke down at least twice a week and my friend had a 78 Sr5 LB, he drained all oil out of it for a test, started everyday, I swear you could've shot that 20R block with a dbl barrel shot gun and it would still start, God gave Kiichiro Toyoda something very special and he shared it with us, there's no other explanation! I just traded in my silver 01 2wd Tacoma for a silver 15 4wd Tacoma, been working on her for a while,couldn't be happier!

its' definitely a champ. Not a LC. There is no rigid axle in the front and the doors have the original pattern. Question is how did they match the front shell and bonnet . Plastic air intake and side mirrors those can be fixed any time.

Nice, I’ll take one, Toyota is keeping the good stuff for everyone outside of the USA, unless there’s some other reason that we don’t get the privilege of owning one of these vehicles as well as the other HiLux vehicles. If it would help, we need to start a petition to present to Toyota or whomever is standing in the way of these vehicles being imported to the US, maybe the specs don’t meet USA requirements, who knows

I have no problem with them assembling them here, I live in a state that has a Toyota Plant and it’s about a 39 minute drive from where I currently live, some of Toyota’s vehicles are only made in Japan and are shipped here, I’m not so sure that tariffs would make the Champ out of reach for most. In any case, the likelihood and probability of the Champ being imported is very slim as lawmakers will protect the Big 3 from actually competing. The popular Lexus Es350 is currently built in the USA but is scheduled to return to Japan for production, Toyota wouldn’t do that if tariffs were going to limit sales as this vehicle would have to be imported to the USA when production moves. The Tacoma, Tundra are not built here and the 4Runner is exclusively built in Japan but these vehicles seem to be prevalent everywhere in the USA, so tariffs can’t be that big of a problem. I did not mention all the vehicles that are not made here

The USA imposes something like a 25% tax/ tariff on imports of vehicles of this type. In addition they have Corporate Average Fuel Economy regulations that in effect encorages manufacturers to build large vehicles as there are less stringent economy requirements based on the size of the vehicle
