The Laowa 15mm f/2 is designed for mirrorless cameras too. It is a little heavier and bigger but it much brighter and not very expensive. Christopher Frost has another video about this lens too.

'A little heavier'? 'Not very expensive'? It is twice as heavy (228g vs 500g) and 200-300USD more expensive. venuslens.net/product/14mm-f4-ff-rl-zero-d/ venuslens.net/product/laowa-15mm-f2/

The distortion of this for a 14mm is almost zero to none. That’s insane
@vikmanphotography79844 жыл бұрын
I bought the Canon 14mm 2.8 right before the market started to focus on ultra wide-angle with the Sigma and samyang options and while I absolutely got screwed with an overpriced lens, I can confirm that even that older lens has virtually no distortion. The Canon also has way better field curvature. Don't buy the Canon though- it's overpriced. Just saying this lens isn't particularly special imo.

I have the RF versions of the 2:1 and 5:2.1 macro lenses; really quality products and easy to use with my EOS-R! I won't be getting one of these until a Canon RF version is produced. But manual focus notwithstanding, these are solidly-built and useful lenses!

I'm puzzled as to why the test chart for resolution shows both the center and corners to be sharp at all apertures, yet the distortion chart shows only the center to be sharp.

Hey Chris, do you have a recommendation for Nikon Z shooters on these affordable UWA primes? This looks decent, but then Samyang has a manual focus Z option as well, or the Irix 15mm is very affordable (only about $250 used in the States) and could be adapted even. thanks!

great review work as usual. the lens itself feels too niche for the price - though the price isn't bad for what you get, it's probably far down the list of lenses most people would want

Hi is it equivalent for a 18 mm moment lens in edge to edge clarity and also the lens softening and barrel distortion are eliminated. Some lens like Samyang 14 mm f 2.8 has barrel distortions which is limited for landscape photos only.

The problem with receiving samples from manufacturers is the samples are cherry picked, not random as a consumer would get from store.

Chris, Love your reviews! When I watch "DA" I feel like my social security check will arrive any moment and I have grown to despise "Fro-bro" with his condescending approach and his frequent references to previous cocaine addiction. A suggestion, with the arrival of these third party ultra wide lenses that will accept filters, most landscape folk will want to know about vignette problems.
