This is a BRILLIANT tutorial - thank you! I followed along with you, using different kinds of sounds to yours, but still, it turned into a wonderful sound I'm happy with. I really appreciate the time you've taken to share this with us. This video has increased my understanding of Falcon a lot!

Glad you enjoyed it! Falcon is an incredibly deep instrument so there's a lot to get to know but once you really start to understand it it's incredibly powerful and rewarding to use!

Yo! Glad it was helpful! Falcon is incredibly powerful for sure, and has really replaced Kontakt for me except for a few libraries, but I rarely use them haha. Falcon is great for scripting too if you're familiar with Lua! I find it's a lot easier to make things happen as opposed to digging through a mile of KSP to figure something out.

@@VenusTheory yeah making my steel and glass "ice bowls" kontakt instrument was so tedious compared to doing the same in Falcon. I'm going to be learning Lua for it pretty soon. One thing I'm stumped on is how to design my own UI for Falcon instruments... It seems like UVI has no documentation on how that is done. Do you know?

Yeah unfortunately it seems a bit underrated again. Hopefully UVI perhaps adds a demo version or something to help people spread the word and get to know Falcon!

@@VenusTheory I played around a 'bit' and am deeply impressed with its power and sound quality. Suddenly my other synths look useless. But as I have seen from you and others on KZbin once the hype is over you do go back to others if the sound calls for it. It took me a while to learn about Falcon's existence and I have watched a lot before buying, so I can only imagine how many others missed out on it. Guess we need to create videos about it again ;-)

Should come with Falcon actually. Pretty sure it's part of the core library unless perhaps it was taken out in a later version?

Hi Cameron, great tutorial as I also love generative compositions - ala Eno. However, I just did a fresh install of UVI Falcon and I do not have that file structure as seen in the video. What I do have is: Win10 > Docs > UVI > Falcon > UVI Scripts. Ideas?? Thank you so much! Drone On!

Those Event Processors make me really wish Falcon had some form of MIDI Out to control other VST’s. I use Studio One and while I love it, its creative/generative sequencing abilities are...lacking. I’m super jealous of Logic’s MIDI Scripting device and if Falcon had MIDI out it would be a great replacement.

Stumbled across this a few days ago, and have been messing around with these concepts. Really nice, and thank you for posting! Have you ever tried this? Applied a random LFO to the Position control on the multi-granular, set the frequency to 0, and set it to retrigger, which creates a random start time to each "note" played in the final instrument. Love it! Thanks again!

Hi Cameron ... I managed to download the Falcon Punch files however, on my Mac Pro when I open up the document folder I'm only seeing 2 folders, under the UVI tab which are Falcon then UVIScript, which is empty ... I've made a folder called Falcon Punch, as you suggested and have copied the items from the LUA folder into this new folder ... I'm therefore wondering where to place this folder and your help would be very much appreciated ... Thank you for your informative videos ... All the best ... Siobhan .

Hello Cameron, I'd really appreciate your advice, I'm looking for a "phat, analog, warm etc" sounding plugin with a nice arpeggiator/sequencer engine. Most of the synths with a great and detailed arp/seq section sound too digital, and most of the analog emulation synths don't have a detailed enough arp/seq section. I hope I was clear enough haha, anyways, looking forward to checking out your suggestions!! thank you!!

Yo! If I had to make some recommendations: Dune 3 - Love this synth, very powerful Arp and 8 part multitimbral with several different engines, effects, etc so it's a powerhouse AAS Ultra Analog 3 - About as close to analog as they come. Bitimbral but only subtractive and has a weaker arp. With some MIDI FX though it can easily fix the lack of a crazy arp. Sound quality is second to none. Synthmaster One / 2.9 - Both incredibly powerful, pretty cool arps and decent selection of FX and filters. Bazillions of presets too for 'plug and play' factor (including some by yours truly) Parawave Rapid - Badass synth, 8 part multitimbral, many FX (per layer!), arps for days, variety of filters and waveshaping modes, one of the sleekest reverbs out there, actually really fat sounding. Lacks many LFOs and Envelopes but makes up for it in stupid layering power and waveshaping/wavetables PhasePlant - Lacks a true arp but fucking powerful synth all around if you're into sound design, capable of vintage tones with the right patch design Falcon - Pretty much the greatest thing ever and extremely powerful. Very deep interface, very steep learning curve for complex patch design. Insane synth and sampler engine modes, effects, etc etc etc. Price is up there, but it's fantastic. Presets are good, and there are many preset libraries available but it really shines if you put in the time to learn it. However, there is no demo. Really, you can't go wrong with any of the above and I'd encourage you to try out the demos to see what you think and listen for the sound itself. Arps and such can be made up with MIDI FX and other effects can always be added later, so it comes down to the raw sound and your own taste/workflow.

@@VenusTheory The funny thing is everytime there's a new synth that I really like I go to the developer's KZbin channel and boom there's Cameron showing off his sound design skills in an official video haha congrats dude, I'm really happy for you and how far your channel has come! @VenusTheory
@VenusTheory 5 жыл бұрын
Yo! Well, not really too much to talk about. It's just a patch on my Novation Peak (two detuned saws, low mixed sine for stability) with a lowpass really low (any synth could do it really) around maybe 200hz with a 24db/oct filter and quite a bit of filter drive and maybe 20% resonance and a little bit of keytracking to taste depending on the track, then put into Kilohearts Multipass - low band gets mono'd with the Stereo snapin, and a slight Distortion on Saturate (1-3db), then a chorus on the mid band and that's that. Compress it after (5-8db reduction) to tame it and that's my typical bass patch haha.
