We each have to decide for ourselves the risks and benefits of medications to treat our bodies’ natural processes. 😊

I was told that being 62 and post menopausal I can’t start taking hrt since I had my last period 8 years. I was taken off the birth control pill 9 years ago from a new obgyn(mine that I had since I was 18 and delivered my 5 children retired) who said I couldn’t be on the pill anymore even though my former doc said since I had no history of breast cancer, heart disease, I was thin, exercised, never smoked and was diligent with my check ups could to get me through menopause. I found a new doc but she wasn’t much better and I’ve been through hell these last almost 10 years and now I have achy joints, haven’t slept in 9 years, crepey skin, dry eyes etc., vaginal issues and no energy. My question is can women who are 6+ years post menopausal candidates for HRT or estradiol or are we SOL?

Some of us aren’t afraid of exogenous hormones because of a single study. It’s because we have lifelong personal experience with a great number of other, so-called ‘healing therapeutics’. I’ll take my chances and sweat, thanks.

I saw the research was for 52 weeks not 12. I have a strong history of breast cancer in my family so not comfortable taking estrogen. I've tried a trial of Veozah and it works perfect for me and my hot flashes/night sweats. Thanks for your information it was helpful.

If you have high liver enzymes, VEOZA can cause problems with your liver. I mean many medications can but this one seems to be particularly troublesome to your liver. I just wanted to point that out. And you have to get a liver enzyme test I believe it was every three months, which is insane to me. What does that tell you?

I love how much better I sleep with estradiol (and progesterone) that I have been taking for a decade now, since I was 56. My first Naturopathic Physician helped me dial in the right dose for me, but MDs since then have pressured me to lower my estradiol dose down to .5 mg, which does not feel sufficient to me so I supplement liberally with phytoestrogens, as well. It's not just women who are afraid of estradiol, it's our doctors. I went through some pretty invasive and aggressive procedures because my doctor did not believe I should "still" be on estradiol. I suffered a completely unnecessary painful biopsy of my uterine lining and an excruciatingly painful ultrasound of my uterus right AFTER the biopsy because they were trying to prove to me that I was being harmed by my estradiol. They only proved that I was completely healthy... And that they were harming me.

I went through almost the exact same process. And my OB/GYN was a NAMS (North American menopause Society) practitioner. I endured a uterine biopsy as well. She had me so scared. 😨 so needless.
