Yeah, I admit when their accent comes out it's really cute, I'm half-Filipino, I'm here in the Philippines studying for my mechanical engineering bachelor's degree, I sometimes tutor my female classmates in math, when they get excited or nervous their accent becomes more prevalent and it's so cute

The more I hear it. The more I think that Indonesian and Filipino accent are somehow different yet very similar at the same time. Filipino accent is much thicker in intonations while Indonesian seems to be very soft and songy. Interesting.

As a part of SEA, I kinda wish I still had my native accent. I've spoken english ever since I was a child growing up in the U.S. Even with immigrant parents I never picked up my native language. Since I'm not really familiar with my roots, I feel like at least having an accent would make me feel more "connected" to said roots. I'm Khmer (Cambodian) by the way.

I find that Mika and Aia sound almost, almost the same with their accented English pronunciation. The difference between the two being that Aia is somewhat more... light? Lessen? The emphasis on some of the words aren't so prominent. But with Mika (and Millie too, now that I think of it) it gets really heavy with how they put pressure on some of the last syllables of a word. Like trying to kick the vowels forward kinda-way. Stupid rambling, just wanna get this out there about my favorite SEA girls.

well, mika is from indo while millie is from the philippines, their countries are pretty close and have the same language root, austronesia. filipinos just have a strong accent when speaking english ig (not so sure), but for mika i personally think her accents are from java island, the main island. most ppl in java have an accent called "medhok" which emphasis some vowels like you said (but i think the accent mika used in this clip is mixed with another accent but i have no idea what accent it is, cmiiw). meanwhile aia is a vietnamese descent, which is a further from those two countries and has a slightly different root, austroasiatic. the three are from SEA, but their language roots are slightly different which makes them have different accents too.
