Old rusty lighter Restoration 2

Today's video shows you how old an old gasoline lighter.
I bought this rusty lighter at auction. The lighter was in poor condition, very rusty and dysfunctional.
Something history:
Gasoline Lighter
Gas lighters are mostly metal and are located in the bottom of the container, which contains the lighter body. The inside of the body is filled with cotton wool, or it is a substance that absorbs flammable material (presumed technical gasoline) and retains it from evaporation. A node is inserted into the lighter body, which is moistened with combustible material. When crossed out, flammable mixtures are ignited, causing a flame.
Some types of lighters with areas protected by special parts that are used as a tool for caution when working with wind or falling to the ground. This technology is patented.

Zippo produces cotton balls because thats wat hold the fuel but u can go to the dollar store and get a pack of 50-100 cotton balls for like 2bucks

What is a technical gasoline? or which product can be used as a substitute? Acetone? White spirit or lighter fluid? brake/carburettor cleaner?Thanks

@@nitro74cs I think most common fuels, like regular gasoline, kerosene, diesel, etc will work fine. High pressurised lighter fuel is often butan based and will not stay in open canisters, just for a few minutes i think before it will gas off Aceton will probably work, possibly brake cleaner, maybe white spirit... but those last opitions does not sound very helathy to me carrying around in your pocket and breathing in the fumes, especialy not aceton or white sprit fumes probably not regular auto gasoline either i think, it work the sam it's just not purified and may contain various additives or destillates with different fractions and it gives pretty nasty fumes. (However ONLY use gasoline in equipment that is originaly constructed for gasoline, NEVER experiment with using gasoline in parrafin/kerosene lamps, etc, that may be realy dangeous, in extreme case it can possibly even explode (however less likly, but it's a thing one shall keep in mind, liquid gasoline is not at all that dangerous, but gassified it's extremly flamable if one use regular car fuel).)
