Do you worry about DMS if you’re boiling with the lid on and it all sealed up?
@vochomebreweryusingbrewtoo94392 жыл бұрын
Hi Joseph Thanks for commenting, the lid has a pipe coming out of the top of the steam hat which exhausts to the atmosphere outside of the brew room so no issues or worries with DMS thankfully, the video didn't really show the pipe going from the top of the steam hat out of the brew room...

Gary, I really like that filter! I've been playing with smaller crushes with it and it really pushed my efficiency. BTW I like how you put the salts in the grain the day before. I'll start trying that. Also, what are you using at the top of the malt pipe as a blocker?
@gazhugs3 жыл бұрын
Hey Shaun, the lazer cut filter is top quality and defo helps the efficiencies a bit, i've been putting the salts in like that for ages as i read somewhere it helps them dissolve better when mixed with the grains. The malt pipe blocker is just a small old short glass, perfect fit and stops any grains getting down the centre pipe before popping the mash hat on...Thanks for the comment.

Maybe the issues with steam leakage around the rim of the steam hat could be fixed by adjusting the length / height angle of the ducting attached? Found with mine if I have the outlet end too low it results in a lot of steam being forced out via the cap.

Thanks Todd, I'll have a look at that, thanks for the tip...hope all is well with you on the other side of the world...

@@nodaleks Nice, Hope you have a good brewday...I thought the new filter worked very well, excellent upgrade IMO, keep your eyes peeled on the volume when you are sparging, don't make my mistake :-)

Filter went well, had a increase of efficiency by 7%. Will be interesting to see if same on next batch.
@vochomebreweryusingbrewtoo94394 жыл бұрын
7% is a great result Todd, maybe a one off, will be interesting to see if you can repeat that increase on the next batch making perhaps another beer style. I have not long finished another brewday, didn't film anything as its the same [apart from a couple of minor tweaks] beer i did a couple of months ago [House Pale with Kveik Voss] obviously used the new bottom plate for its second outing, got a small increase in both efficiencies over standard, however i did get quite a bit of grain debris in the kettle, mostly due to me using literally the last 4 kg of Maris Otter that i've had in my big storage tub for a few months, so a lot of the small grains had found their way to the bottom of the tub...yet another variable of a brewday...hope you are keeping well...

Damn - looks like it is worth buying the filter then.....more money ;-) !!!!!

Who said home brewing was cheap lol always more money lol

Hi Stewart & Danny, yes i would say the new bottom filter is worth the money, it drains through the grist bed quite a bit better than the standard coarse filter, the sparge water did seem to make its way through the grains more quickly tbh, maybe it was the new bottom plate helping the flow? may of been the combination of grains...personally i think its the new plate, next brewday i'll be checking the kettle volume level a bit better when getting close to target...

Are you running that of a normal 13A UK socket?
@vochomebreweryusingbrewtoo94393 жыл бұрын
Yes i run the B40 on a 13 amp socket, i run it at 16 amps which Brewtools themselves say is fine...

Would use use old screen on top of mash to prevent the wort coming out the mash hat tunneling thru one area?
@vochomebreweryusingbrewtoo94394 жыл бұрын
Hi John, that's something to ponder about using the old bottom filter, i would have to cut out a much bigger centre hole to accommodate the new sparge pipe upgrade i got a couple of months ago, tbh i really haven't seen any channelling in the grist bed while mashing...
@jonmccombs17114 жыл бұрын
@@vochomebreweryusingbrewtoo9439 i saw some people's comments about they were worried about that with B40
@gazhugs4 жыл бұрын
@@jonmccombs1711 As i mentioned i haven't had anything remotely like channelling on my B40, the top of the grist bed doesn't dry out at all during the mash, i can only vouch for my own experiences while using the B40pro.

Nice man. I was looking at that exact same beer on TMM the other day, where they have the all grain receipt kits, but because I have the B80, I wanted to do two batches and you can’t add two kits which is a bit annoying. I’ll check out their recipe generator at some point. I just wanted a quick solution, so fortunately they have Punk IPA clone as a double batch 😁 Any way, nice vid, prolific as ever and the colour of that beer is a thing to behold!!

Cheers bud, Punk IPA done right is a great beer, ridiculous amount of hops in it mind, saying that i've got 300 grams [180 Citra & 120 Galaxy] to go in this on Day10, i copied TMM recipe malt percentages but got all the grains in separately, from TMM :-) The wort did look nice in the trial jar tbh, hopefully the beer will taste good in a few weeks, racked a BD dead pony Club Clone today, smelled lovely...
