Nothing to say for this 48th or so Otello of Domingo. Tomowa could do very proper and interesting thing, with some miracle sometimes (Don Giovanni with Bohm in Salzburg, Ernani aria at the Met gala, for instance), less good in 80s (Donna Anna with Karajan in 1987). Here, it's on the good side of her career. But Silvano Carroli is a voice, a real one, so substantial. Like Guelfi in the former generation. Thank you very much for this sharing.

Johann Sebastian Bach he was very shy and solitary so...I never had the chance to know him better but he was kind

@@yea2080 We had general rehearsal without Domingo. In first act Kleiber said Otello's words, in the second he began to sing, in fourth he turned purple and shouted aloud. I was afraid he went on the stage to kill Frau Tomowa. If you like, in my Instagram (stoccafusso) there is a short card by Kleiber.

@@mauroferrando5580 Thanks for sharing! Any other anecdotes you can share about the 81 Tokyo tour with Kleiber? I hear there was an episode with a donkey in Osaka with Boheme?

@@MrTann2010 I remember the donkey. I didn't play that Bohème (I played it in Osaka with Kleiber in '88) but my colleagues narrated me that just a few minutes after the end of that show. The donkey was on stage in the second act and then put in the nearest. Just during the death of Mimì the animal began to bray (he wanted to sing too? 😂). Kleiber finished conducting the last minutes with an arm on his face for not to be seen while laughing.

Carolli was underrated by a mile! I know Domingo has many haters but he is my favorite Otello besides Vinay. Lots of people give him a stick for not having good high notes and yet keep praising Vickers who didn't have them at all

I was there.Domingo,a good actor as everyone knows he was.As a singer ,my impression was ,well a mediocre,,,no better than his recordings.Sintow on the otherhand , far better tha her recordings.Carroli,typical Itarian bariton. Good Iago.The best was chorus and orchestra at that night .and of course Kleiber.
