Capcom Allstars needs to happen. They have so many franchises that could make up a massive roster. Just take every Capcom character from this game, MvCI, TvC (Tatsunoko vs Capcom) and MvC2 and add in new characters like Nero, Juri, Rashid, Dimitri, Asura, Leon and Power Stone characters, bring the gameplay and netcode of MvCI, add Arcade Mode with actual endings, Tournament mode (offline and online), Tag Mode (each player controls a character in a fight) and make it available both offline and online, an in depth tutorial, some trials, and you're good.

Perhaps, but unlike this Nintendo has almost always had two Smash games in the competitive spotlight since Brawl while Marvel 2 (and later on Marvel 3) got more or less completely dropped at events for sequels with only some side events being exceptions. Infinite is definitely different in a number of ways but it failed to connect with people due to presentation, content and modes. Smash 4 may be lacking in modes a bit, but it is a fully featured Smash with just a few blemishes. The character roster never got smaller for the series as much as there were some missing favourites.
