Veritas, I have been following you for awhile. And I have owned tarkov for 3 years. But in owning it 3 years I probably haven't even logged 45 hours of total play time on it. I was an on and off player. Part of this was my job getting in the way at the time, part of this was the steep skill gap this game has but I have always enjoyed it. Recently with patch 0.13 I have come back on, having last played at 12.12 with intertia introduced. This time however, I decided I wanted to go all in with this game. Ive watched enough of your streams and pestily's streams that I feel the itch to "get good" THANK GOD FOR THIS VIDEO. Veritas, you produce Tarkov masterpieces when it comes to the content you upload to KZbin! But of all the masterpieces, this video has got to be the coup de grâce of all videos. Dare I say the absolute best Tarkov video ever created?! Best because it tackles the very purpose and essense of this game with a full blown strategy...for if you can't figure out the absolute basics of playing, then why would you play? This video serves as a launching pad for ANYONE who is struggling in Tarkov. Before this video, I still had gear fear...and AI scavs sometimes would wipe me out. After this video, I just dropped 7 in factory before extract. It only took me a day of taking advice from this video to start actually performing. THANK YOU! Thank you for taking the time to make this to help others, and thank you for being so articulate and educated in your presentation. Truly, some of the absolute best Tarkov content on the internet.

@@R2B2YT update: sometimes shit happens but for the past couple of days I haven't died once as a PMC in raid. My last raid I killed 5 scavs with minimal damage & with a backpack so heavy it drained stamina just walking (full of loot). This works. The strategy of this game is played so differently to other shooters. Just throw out everything youve ever known about how you play other shooters and accept the fact that this game requires retraining yourself on FPS. Its really rewarding once you figure it out. The stakes in this game are real...its so easy to get killed. So theres alot more thought placed into what you are doing and why you are doing it. Overtime of playing, but rather playing consistently it will stop being such a huge challenge and start being very rewarding. The biggest advice I can give to start seeing improvements is to give 0 fucks about the gear you have on. That doesn't mean you go in with a trash setup, but just remember that gear can be replaced or looted. In the past everytime I engaged in a fight, there was this sinking stomach butterfly feeling of life or death lol, almost like I was really there and doing whatever it took to get out of a fight alive. Dying is apart of tarkov. One other piece of advice I would recommend is to set your music volume to 0. This might just be me...but the moment I made the music 0, is the moment I saw the biggest increase in survival after following the teachings of this video. There is something about hearing the tarkov hard rock music before a raid where you know you could loose everything that seems to psyche you out as you sit in long queue times. But a silent queue time provides a whole lot more peace and focus. Thats just my thoughts on why I feel im doing better. I liken it too not hearing a familiar tone that I always hear before I go into a raid and inevitably fail. Hearing nothing, calms you way down and helps you not have that feeling of "another one" Good luck. Everyday is improvement Edit: also, prioritize bleeds before healing. Say you win a fight, but die right after, you probably have 2 heavy bleeds you didn't even realize. Bleeds suck away your HP. So if you win, stop bleeds first, maybe heal right after or loot quickly, and reposition for heals and blacked limbs. But not stopping bleeds right away or broken bones is most certainly gonna result in you dying right after a won fight.

Set small goals you know you can reach for yourself, one at a time "Improve at the game" is vague, and at best too long-term to matter as an objective. "Survive a factory raid with 1 PMC kill" is direct, straight forward and achievable. Once you do that, turn it into "Survive a factory raid with 3 PMC kills" and go on like that This is not only helpful in tarkov but anything in life really, aim at very concrete and very short-term goals that will act as small steps to your ultimate goal of improving at that thing

One thing that I'd like to re-emphasize for using this technique is the importance of occasionally doing something else. If you find yourself bored, tired, or overly frustrated with your raids and you find your performance getting worse, don't hesitate to go try something else for a bit, regardless of whether or not your schedule says you're "ready". Your body and mind have evolved for thousands of years to tell you when you're approaching burnout, so listen to them.

I just found your channel and honestly, you are the closest, nah cross that, the only channel actually dissecting the problem with new players, is that you can’t learn by just keep on dying. Hat off you to and I’m now a subscriber. When ever I spawned, I just don’t know where the heck I’m at, maps online doesn’t exactly have a name for a the location so you go on and just name it, the spawn at Old Gas station I just call it “death trap” for my very first raid because I can’t get out of that area and there is no exactly guidance. I literally lost 6 hours of going in, die under 3 minutes while exploring till’ I know there is literally 1 gate to get through which there likely a scavs check point or a sniper waiting for you on the other side so you die and again because it’s so open and i don’t know how to trace the voice line until I get a bullet in my head and yep, back again. Also, I just wish that there is some short of match making in this game so new players can learn together as there will be new players around your skills.

When I first picked this game up 5 months ago I was that guy you talked about at the end of your video. I went in to every run thinking I had to make it out at all costs with what I had on me and what I had found, and anything else was a complete failure. I listened to people like Pestily and Jesse who said new players need to just memorize exfils in offline and focus on quests. At the time I thought that was exactly how you had to play the game when learning, and that led to an unbelievable amount of tilt from me. So much so that I quit just 20 days later. Figured why question seasoned vets of the game they obviously know better than me. I didn't stop to think that they never bothered to explain what to do if you find yourself in a situation where your only way out is through an exfil camper. They never explained what to do when completely lit up and limping halfway across the map. Their advice's were always boiled down to "Bring enough meds to where that's never an issue." except as a new player who isn't even aware yet of how much damage you take from simple falls, all the meds in the world aren't going to help if you can't use them properly. I just installed the game again and am going to try giving it a go again. This time however I'm going to do what was suggested in this video and instead of treating my gear like the end-all be-all that I had made it out to be in my mind, and instead view them as a disposable tool that will aid in my escape. I'm going to try and treat gear in this game like how potions are treated in RPG games; consumables that are meant to be used up to help one complete an objective.

Great video. I’m a new player a couple months into my first wipe, and I initially tried factory to get my PVP bearings, but it was just too fast paced for me. Frustration would often get the better of me. Interchange actually ended up being BY FAR the best map for me to learn on. You can choose to avoid the mall completely, and just stick to the outer loop, so there’s less PVP but not zero PVP. The map is basically a square, easy to learn the layout. Emercom to Power Station to Railway to Scav Camp, it’s so much easier initially to just think “I need to go to that top corner to extract” rather than “I need to get to this one landmark and then this other one and then I’m at the extract.” And this map also makes it so most of your engagements are linear, while moving in a straight line from one corner to another. And also with those easy to learn ground/barrel caches you can get some pretty solid loot to start out with. Don’t sleep on Interchange!
@Nooneishere7772 жыл бұрын
I agree with a lot of this. Factory is something you should focus on after you’ve scuffed your elbows a few times Getting used to gun/movement mechanics. Tarkov is more than just pvp shenanigans, that’s what makes it unique. But yeah, Factory is a place that instills gear fear in new players.

Great video. I learned a lot of what you said by accident and totally agree with the learning strategy. Was trying to learn the game as people suggested: learning Customs and doing quests and was always terrified of Factory. At some point I got a weekly quest to survive factory 22 times and I committed to it. Not only did I manage to get it done in several hours, I had a great time doing it even when I died a bunch. It changed the way that I make decisions while playing the game and worked on the very basics which translate to all other maps as you so rightly pointed out. Movement, fighting, looting efficiently, healing, weapon handling, etc - all of it translates. I will add just one thing to what you said that I found to be incredibly useful for players in the early stages of getting good at surviving Factory. When you spawn in, you should already have a plan and move immediately based on where you spawned. I was dying a LOT trying to wait and listen and then decide what to do. Do not be afraid to run around the map right away and either get a good defensive position on another player spawn point, or push contested loot, etc. The worst thing you can do is sit still and wait. If you spawn forklifts for example, you have to push out immediately, or if you spawn glass hallway you have the option to push office relatively safely and hold an angle down the hall. Do whatever you want, as long as it isn't sitting still.

One of the best vids on tarkov I’ve seen. For me a lotta the of the learning curve has been/is dealing with the fear and stress. I came back to the game this most recent wipe after not playing for over a year (first started playing back 2 wipes before the bigger expansion of customs). It feels a lot better mostly cause of a shift in confidence and ability to handle stress (also have less anxiety than I used to). Also side note: offline raids have been (for me at least) more than anything a good way of helping me get over the fear of getting shot at and dying. Fantastic video as always Veritas. I'm a Tarkov daddy now, got one of my friends into the game just a week or so ago and I'm guiding him though the difficult beginnings. Forwarded him this video because it's great advice. Keep doing what you do!

I basically just started playing last night, pulled an all nighter, lost a lot gained a lot. I couldn’t have been more happy when he said factory is the best map to learn on, I also enjoy customs. Factory for me means it’s very easy to learn in just a few hours of playing on it, in practice offline, or as a scav, it’s super fun and easy. Now online is different, it’s definitely harder but I needed up making some plays too. Good luck everyone and enjoy the game!

My first experience with tarkov was playing woods. Probably the worst starting map hahaha i avoided using map genie until I learnt the map myself. Because I didn't want to cheat myself of the intended experience and cheese it. Man it was frustrating but also the most addictive feeling from a game. Soul clenching anxiety and fear. Love it. Great and informative video.

As a new player I must say that the toughest enemy to fight is the matchmaking time. I didn't realize how much impact it had on me untill I compared it to Hunt showdown or Marauders. There I'm always happy to get back into the game and learn from my mistakes, in tarkov instead, it's very hard sometimes (especially if you have only few hours). I'm just a beginner and I'm loving tarkov, I just wish matchmaking time would be shorter.

Pre-wipe five-seven runs on factory with half decent armor against people with more serious gear are the thing that helped me immensly with everything, i got used to dying, losing kit after kit and just going "oh well, lets go again!", that mentality carried over to the normal game very quickly and almost completely eliminated gear fear for me, and it made tarkov more fun. Losing some good loot (especially if its for quests) every couple of raids is still demoralising, but thats the nature of the beast. I think this video gives the best advice that every new player needs to hear. Great job Veritas!

Solid tip for those using Scav guns (ala guns with terrible durability) bind your Check Chamber/Clear Malf to the same button as your inspect, but as a "Press" then rebind your Inspect on that same key as a "Release".

Constant fights and swarmed from scavs, learning the mechanics and constant mayhem. Love it. Still learning it obviously after less than 24 hours but loading into factory taught me real fast

This video could be 10 minutes, not 23. Your habit of over-explaining blatantly obvious concepts is tiring and at times even annoying but after watching you irregularly for years it seems you won't stop doing it. You say that most people don't give good advice only to then make a 23 minute video of mediocre tips that most people already know about

The best advice I've heard. Everyone dies, even hackers. You're going to die a lot. Set small goals, like "I'm going to spawn in and just make it to the exfil." Then "I'm going to kill 2 scavs and exfil.". Don't do too much. Don't repeak raiders, you'll get destroyed. Pick one map and stick with it, learn what you can just cruising around. Do scav raids. Ammo is more important than the gun. Shoot people in the stomach and legs if you have sh*t ammo, cause it'll do more damage. A good rule of thumb is 10k rubles per square, anything less, unless you personally need or a quest needs it, it's a waste of space.

I just bought the game literally 24hr ago and have spent hours watching videos for tips and tricks for beginners, and I have to say this is the first video to recommend this. I will be using this information to it's full extent. I have a pretty vast FPS experience from multiple games. But EFT is something different, from movement to shooting to looting. My first few raids got me second guessing my purchase, thinking maybe it wasn't for me and so on. But now with this video my hopes are so much higher now. So thank you for this information and I hope it turns my views around on the game.

Right there with you, first season started a few weeks ago and I wish I had seen this then. The gear fear isn’t really a problem for me but I’m beyond tired of dying without a chance at a gunfight. When that happens I learn absolutely nothing, other than how much I despise shoreline. Looks like I’ll be trying factory tomorrow.

The center mass thing is always trippy to me, I was playing factory and stumbled across two geared fellows, I snuck up on them an head shot one (btw using a saiga 12 with 5 round mags), I proceed to dumb the next 4 round center mass and he doesn't die, he also dumped all his rounds center mass and I dont die, I accidentally didn't fast reload and he's able to dome me first. This game is very funny.

So glad I found this video! I bought the game almost 2 years ago and was an on and off player, I wanted something realistic and challenging but the skill gap after coming from years of console call of duty with controller made it extremely discouraging and literally everything you said don’t do I was doing only ever playing customs with a map up on my other monitor. I finally started really trying to learn the game and get better at it a couple months ago but only feeling comfortable on customs and not knowing any other map and being low level I found myself in a slump with tarkov once again everyone I asked on twitch all said learn customs first avoid pvp and stay away from factory because it’s a death sentence but everything you said in this video makes so much more sense! With wipe just happening I’m def going to be applying all this in the near future and want to say thankyou for making this video because without even playing this wipe yet it gives me the confidence it is possible to learn this game and be proficient at it!

Fantastic advice. Great episode. I am heading to factory now. I am level 10 and struggled to get to that point. Just when I think I can help my son and son-in-law, I can't kill before I get killed. I lose all the good loot I just spent 20 minutes running around Woods to collect. I made it an easy shopping day for the person who killed me. UGH. Thank you for the great training process.

@reven38992 жыл бұрын
Here some things that people never teach new players and can be frustrating understanding what is going on with your shots 1. Learn about the different ammos. There is good and bad ammo. Better ammo in a shit gun is better then shit ammo in a good gun. Look up “tarkov ammo chart” understand penetration and damage. 2. Learn what MOA is. You will u learn why your slug rounds out of your shotgun isent hitting your target at 100m 3. Learn about bullet velocity which is dependent on the ammo and barrel length. 4. Learn about “Zeroing” and how it can cause you bullet to actually go over where you are at a certain range (search “hold over” and “hold under”) These are a couple of things no one mentions but will help you understand what tf is going on during gunfights especially at range.

I have watched many videos about improving in Tarkov and while most of them do give some great advices, none of them helped me improve as much as your tip to play in factory and just go and try to shoot someone. In a single day I went from not being able to last 5 mins in a pmc raid, to killing few pmc and scavs and safely exctracting ~30% of the time. I also completely overcame my fear of loosing gear, as you said, gear comes and goes, best way to enjoy the game is to stop thinking about it. Thanks!

Ya know, this “boot camp” idea is the best in the biz! Tyvm! I did Scav live but Factory offline the entire 3 weeks I had the game in pre-wipe. Might add: now that grouping into offline is a thing, to do that with your “Sherpa” bud to get a guide around your first maps. Having that experienced shot-caller advise you on movement & position, how to approach locations, etc, without getting them really killed & gear lost… might be next level of this.

i like recommending interchange for a beginner map you have a lot of options for loot, movement, and extracts are simple my typical loot run way back when i started was so good id run into a player 1 in every 10 raids and make a around 300 to 400k rubles on a typical run the map is a big square the main extracts are on opposite corners of each other it has a easy car extract it has good key rooms tons of tech and hardware and if you take the time to explore there are quite a few weapons crates and filing cabinets my biggest tip is always find a content creator you vibe with and watch em here and there you will pick up knowledge without realizing it and keep playing you dont get better by not playing edit im not talking on the pvp side of stuff i agree about factory i just find interchange to be a easy map for noobies to learn to profit from

Seriously the best tarkov tip video I ever seen I’m not a veteran but I been playing for a bout 4 wipes now all the way through so I know my way around but with this video I still got some good advice very detailed and very specific this is a great video
@tmtigd Жыл бұрын
Wow. I knew this wasn't going to be exactly for me. But you have a really good grasp of what new players struggle with and this is a great video for them. I didn't really need this but I still felt like I was learning something. Specifically how to learn the maps and how you learn them (You learn parts of them and it isn't all connected) Great video would have been great when I was new or struggling. It's been four raids and I still only know half then maps. Woods. Reserve. Lighthouse. Factory. And Factory. I learned factory first. Best choice I made personally. You learn how the mechanics work but you ALSO LEARN the guns. I still spend so much time doing the "shift w" and realizing I'm in the completely different part of woods. One thing I really recomend for new players. Use cover. Bushes. Trees. Hills. Night raids are nice when you're new to get used to moving. But you have to be willing to work past it. This game is a lot of work. A lot. Of work. Have the wiki with the 3D map open in another tap. Work to getting the compas from prapor. Listen to everything else he said. What helps me the most? Going slow, making sure I have the advantage. If you go slow (for me) it works out. You can hear people moving around if you just go slow and wait here and there and listen. Take cover. But you know. He said you have to adapt you're play style to you. maybe you're more agressive or a complete rat. I consider myself inbetween. PS: full auto is over rated for rifles. VPO 206 is my go to.
