Thank you so much for reviewing this flip phone. Reviews on Verizon are terrible for any simple flip phone, and I need information. lol I am a senior, elder sounds more respectful to me, but I am switching/adding a flip phone for the purpose of not worrying about it being stolen in the markets, etc. and for use in certain camping areas where if it is lost, I can afford to replace it. So thank you for the information so much. You are concise and have a pleasant voice. Going over features is also appreciated. Really, it's sad to learn that Verizon places these smaller flip phones on low call priority on their network. It is not just seniors who use them. They are easy to slip into pockets and as a woman, there are times I definitely do not want to take my purse. Purses get stolen. Most smartphones do not fit in pockets comfortably. :) Take care and God Bless.

He isn't online, wanted nothing to do with technology but I finally got him to get a phone since there are virtually no pay phones around any longer. And his daughter and I want to be able to reach him and he needs a phone for himself and safety. I've only had smart phones so this flip phone was new to me and I needed help. Since he only wants to call out and receive calls, this is perfect for him. You didn't go over setting up voice mail, but I think I can do that. Thanks again.

After having the new iPhones for years, I finally decided to back off the phones that are "supposed" to connect us, and go back to an actual phone. So much less of a distraction. I think what shocked me the most if how easily adding contacts uses up the 8GB of phone storage.

I found this phone NOT to be good for seniors. I bought it for my elderly mom and there are too many problems to list. She had an old flip phone that is 3G and will be obsolete soon. I also bought her the Jitterbug and while it is easy to use it runs on the Verizon network, but it has low priority on their network so the calls are crap. Any suggestions for an easy flip phone would be appreciated.

One frustrating problem...especially for a construction worker who is using loud equipment AND has his phone in his pocket: the volume control is constantly getting 'hit' and either off entirely or lowered. Even though there is a "set" option on volume, if the lower volume button happens to be pushed...fergeddaboutit! We have even tried taping over the lower button, but still it happens.

Thanks for the review. I have an Orbic flip phone. The first one Verizon gave me didn't hold a charge more than 2 days. The replacement worked for about a month. Now it loses its charge overnight. I had a flip phone for 15 years that worked fine. The only reason to change was that it didn't work on 4G and was always going out of cell service. How can I make this phone hold its charge? I only call and text, and not often at that.

For adding contacts, best to go through main menu, contacts, add contact, CLR button will delete /or clear entry /or take you back to main menu, and the space bar for names is on the 0 button. You can also use the people silhouette button (next to CLR button), but may have to hit CLR to take you to the start.

Question: I set a lock on my Orbic flip phone and it asks me to unlock it every few minutes when it goes to sleep. Where can I set the time limit for keeping the phone unlocked. My kids decided I needed a flip phone because they were worried when they couldn't call or reach me on my smart phone and it would go to voice mail. I am adjusting and waiting for them to call or reach me anytime. LOL So goes the story of a mother's contact with kids who lead busy lives. Thanks a Bunch! You’re right, yours is the only YT clip for this #OrbicV phone I found! The phone’s surprisingly advanced for an old folks FLIP-PHONE. Can’t wait to TRY to teach him. That’ll be FUN! Verizon can’t Port his number, to 1 if my old working LG phones either. That’s now $99. Or 2 yrs at $3.33/month for us . So we just had to buy him this OrbucV. -bummer. My 83 y/o Brother-in-Law LOST his phone & Verizon TOLD ME, they can’t Ping it, even tho’ we kinda KNOW, it’s lost somewhere in his house; he hasn’t actually left his house in 5 weeks w CoViD2 out there. Lazlo -Oh my gosh! You’re so right! My brother-in-law is an electrical engineer & he adored the Internet & could have taught me a thing or two 15 years ago. But today, he’s lost with the CROWDED MENUS & pages. Funny you mention Microsoft Windows! He insisted on an HP desktop (I hoped he’d go with Mac). WELL! We sat there for hours, just trying to set his PC up! It’s a pity. Now, the only thing he does in his HP is read email & if he doesn’t get frustrated, occasionally he can “Search” with IE. I was an Apple person back in the 80-90’s. Then had 3 PC’s. Once they messed-up Internet Explorer & we needed security patches every week, I WENT BACK TO APPLE. And the ONLY SEARCH ENGINE I USE, is DuckDuckGo. Since doing this, I haven’t had 1 frozen screen & no annoying pop-ups. I’ve diverted from the phone problem, but your comment about MS Windows really got me going. I thought about the Jitterbug for him, but he does love taking photos & I’m pretty sure, Jitterbug didn’t have a camera. BUT THANKS FOR THE VIDEO! I’m making sure he watches it before we open the Verizon OJV phone.

Another advantage of a flip phone is that the construction of it makes for better/easier hearing than the flat smart phones. Also, a thing to consider when addressing older folks (of which I am one) is that words are easier to follow that icons. What makes sense to a teenager or 20-something programmer does not necessarily make sense to a 70+year old.

@@denirn8725 Also there are issues with the lack of *real* logic! These youngsters learned on BASIC style programs and did not progress on to *real* program languages. Quite honestly, that is why it is so freaking easy to hack current systems and why Banking and Government and data storage sites should never use Windows-based or similar-based programs as their platform.

Compared to to older style flip phone, I personally think it could have a louder, ringer, and better ringtones, and the phone vibration is really week for the people that do not hear well. Also the eas of use for the elderly is not very good.

You can record your won ringtones, including bringing over old ones from other phones - that's what I did with the Kyocera. Ease of use for elderly is up for debate - it is familiar and the keys are fairly well sized compared to some, especially the smart phone screen keyboards!

It's worth noting that you can watch videos full screen in KZbin, even though it requires holding the phone sideways. I also noticed, just like you did, that when I connect to wi-fi, it's says "no Internet", so now I'm wondering if that's a bug, or if it's not possible to access the Internet via my wi-fi router with this phone.

I have the el cheapo Orbic Journey V. If you are, say, checking one of your settings and then you flip it shut, you will reopen to the same screen you were on previously and have to clear several times back to get to your main background screen. What's up with that? When I shut my phone I shouldn't have to reopen to the previous screen and then clear several times to get back to ground zero. Very frustrating.

Battery life is horrible, make a 30 min call and % is down to 75% after a fresh charge and standby run down is quick. Recharging every 2-3 days without using for calls more than 1-2 hrs. My other 3g phone was 6-7 days before a charge. Horrible. Verizon could care less. New battery cost is $45. Lots of functionality limitations I am discovering.

This phone is okay for someone who just wants to talk and text easily. BUT the battery life could be better. Verizon says it has a 9 day standby time. Actually, it's about 2 days. And this was with no Wi-Fi, no Internet access connectivity, and only 15 second display time, and the lowest setting for display brightness. I like the phone for basic use, but the battery life ruins it for me. My old flip phone had standby time of more than 14 days. PLEASE fix this Orbic!

I know this is dated, but Trac Phone offers it as a free upgrade due to 5G. I neither have nor want a " smart " phone. I have over 2700 minutes that carried over from my old phone. Except mine has nothing that says Verizon. No label or apps, which is fine as I'm not a Verizon fan. And you now have to dial 611 to get account info or buy airtime.

Hi Thank you for your dedication. Now my problem... This phone was given to me by Verizon as a replacement since they went to 5G. Have been on the phone with the TRACFONE to accomplish a transfer. OK... however, during when I get to the network screen it will not let me "skip". Therefore I must choose a carrier. The problem is when I try select a password I get lost. There has to be a technique for typing in the right word. Also how do I get the volume up? When the phone starts to talk I can barely hear it. You can watch KZbin on the Orbic Journey V in the horizontal plane which makes the screen size large enough to see the vids fairly well for a flip-phone. After starting a KZbin vid. move the pointer to the lower right corner of the screen, click the little square box and the vid. will go full screen horizontally. My only problem with this phone is I cannot get the 'Hotspot' to activate??? And yes, my plan includes unlimited hotspot use.

Just bought this phone, got a text message, and now a week later, my exterior screen still has the name of the person who first texted me in the middle of the screen, with the little green box with the smiling emoji above it. I read and erased the text, so it's not like what I'm seeing is a new notification, it is just always there now. NOWHERE in the manual or can I find online how to clear or reset the exterior screen, they only address the "home screen", but I don't want to see the person who texted me's name every time I shut the phone! How does speed dial work? On other flip phones you just press one number and it calls whoever you have connected to that speed dial. This phone does not do that or am I missing something?

I would scold you for lying to her but I realized that if she's stupid enough to ask such a question after the reviewer showed how small the battery is as well as all of the other negative comments about the phone's poor battery life, I guess she pretty much asked for it. I just got one today. I had a ZTE flip phone from Tracfone. Then Verizon bought them and I had trouble getting on the website to add minutes. So the first big change was reduced service. Half the time it wouldn't recognize my log-in. Then they said they were discontinuing the network and I had to upgrade to a G4 phone. they'll send me a free one. After using more than a half hour of my phone time fighting Verizon's poor connection and shouting repeatedly back and forth over the static, (I tried doing it on line, but they didn't recognize my log-in. Again) I finally managed to get the info across and they sent me an O(r)bit Journey V. Unlike my ZTE, it has a tiny battery, a tiny screen and no touch screen. The latest change from Verizon, along with inferior service and connections, is a downgrade to an inferior phone. I've been thinking that they're deliberately trying to drive me to a different company. It may be working.

None of the ringtones are loud enough. Can I record my own ringtone? If so, how please?
