It might be worthwhile to include a brief section on break points. Since power vs. properties are important for hitting break points, it's a natural fit.

My friend who is not power level 650 has gotten red items from emperor champion vaults before, and those items are power level 300. This was also in chaos wastes, don't know if that accounts for anything. Additionally. It would seem the red he got does not really effect the rate at which his power level is increasing. He only really tested it for like 3-4 boxes, but it still seemed to jump 1 or 2 power level every other box or so.

Yes that is true. Whenever you do obtain a red item before reaching 300 item power it counts whichever is the highest item power you have for that slot that isn't the red item. I think this is so that you can still get lucky and obtain a red item without that red item also being a MASSIVE shortcut for reaching 300 item power with the rest of your items. Should have probably mentioned that bit so I appreciate the comment! :)

This is exactly what happened to me I had 2 emperor's crates in chaos wastes enesing up giving me 3 reds after 3 crates only had 2 since

@@ThePartyKnife I am just now playing for the first time I got my main to 35 and opened 50+ commendation chests. I got a red. I was about 240 average before than. Next chest all pieces jumped over 20 points. So a red can definitely speed it up at this point.

@@peterleblanc661 Same here last month. Got level 35, opened some commendation chests, got red item, next chest was about +20 power. I think I was somewhere around 220 power. Even if I was at power level 1, a lucky red would only raise it by 60, so I don't think there is any point in making reds not count towards the new item power level, especially considering how unlikely such scenario is.

I always thought that drops are not determined by the average power, but by the highest item power you ever had and counting from there. Well getting 300 power takes no time anyway so that is why I never bothered to learn it.

Loot box rewards are -5 to +10 of your highest item if I remember right

I am convinced there is an algorithm that increases the drops of red items if you haven’t played for a while. Ya know, to entice you back in. I could sit and play Legend all day and get ten emperor/generals vaults and get nothing. But when I leave the game for a few weeks, my first game back rewards me with a red item off champion difficulty or something. Either that or I’m just paranoid. 😄

Funny thing is I've had (sorta?) the opposite experience. I always had this feeling that if you just started opening boxes you would get nothing but if you played/won a game and stayed in that lobby and opened chests then I felt like my luck increased. xD However despite this all too human feeling I am also well aware of the fact that people tend to seek and find patterns in the world and most likely this feeling I had was just that, a feeling. And unlikely to really be coded into the game hehe! :D Anyways hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching m8!

I've been getting into Vermintide 2 after having played the 1st one. There's a lot of depth to this fucking seemingly simple game and your videos have been helping guide me through. I'm trying to learn to main Sienna but I have no idea what roles to fill. A video on something like party role/dynamics would be awesome. ( Don't know too much about end-games)

I might have missed this but do I have to have the highest level items equipped or does it count from the highest I have had. I know that it keeps track of the highest item you’ve had but island if I have to have everything equipped for it to work. On a similar note do I count the average of the items I have on me or the highest I have in my inventory?

11:18 Discord notification! And you could have mentioned that you can see the average item power when you hover over the hero power button (the number). There are 2 lines for power, one for the level and one for equipment. The equipment power is the average item power :D. So nobody needs to do the math since the game already does it for you!

Reds can definitivly drop before lvl 25, I´ve pulled a friend of mine through a champion chaos waste 2 weeks ago and he got a red longbow for his lvl 18 waystalker :D that damn lucky guy xD

I guess drop rates were made much better over the last year. I’m at 100 hours and have had probably a dozen red drops. Enough for amulet, trinket and ring. As well as both weapons on Grail Knight

Really? I'm at 100 hours myself too and have opened only 3 red items so far (2 out of Commendation chests), so I was wondering if the rates had been nerfed, actually. There is no way General Chests have more than 1% red drop rate as I'd be swimming in reds already if that was the case.

@@tuesss I think that, maybe because it was double XP when I joined the game, I just happened to have a higher volume of Commendation Chests to open in a shorter period of time. I leveled 4 characters past 30 in less than 2 weeks when I put in those hundred hours. I have noticed that I get reds out of Commendation chests more frequently than Emperor/General loot boxes, but I still could have sworn that I got a red drop from something as low as a soldier's chest.

Don’t hoard your crafting dust like this guy. Use it often, run it dry and make the best items you can on your quest to the veteran items. There is a time when you max char level and don’t find veteran items so you might as well make and roll items that are near perfect so you’re not getting antsy to find the best, you’re making them.

Got a red item today. my highest power level item is 201 and I was speedrunning the screaming bell on veteran. Even though I ignored all tomes and grimoires I still got a red item from the shitty chest (I don't know what it's called)

i have no idea about this numbers for legend emperor chests ..... dunno... sometimes i open 20-30 emperor chests from legend difficulty and i got 1-2 max to 4 items for real :( this 16-21% look absolute unreal actualy look like 1.6-2.1%

10:25 I actually started playing this game 2 days ago, and I have now Sienna at lvl 14. I managed to get TWO orange items in a ROW in lootboxes. Therefore that chart is mistaken.

@Papa Joe The box was one you get from the achievements. I don't remember my power level, I must have been around 200 item power. If you read carefully what I wrote, you might notice I said that I had started playing not long ago, therefore I was (and still consider myself a bit) a beginner. I explicitly said it, so you calling me a leech because I don't know stuff about the game is a bit dumb from you. I was just reporting that I had received orange items while not being lvl 15. The end. You should pay more attention and throw less assumptions. In case I'm missing a point, you're free to explain it yourself.

Can someone please simply and clearly explain how to get better gear? All these numbers and probability shit has gone miles over my head and now I’m actually more confused then before. To get better stuff, be higher level, open the best chests possible then it’ll just gradually improve each chest like a staircase?

Pretty much yeah :) If you just keep playing and keep opening chests you will get better and better gear and eventually arrive at maximum power regardless of how you do it. This was just a method by which to optimize how quickly you arrived at max power! Hope that clarifies!

Yes that is correct. Cataclysm was a difficulty that was added into the game with the wind of magic DLC and I think Fatshark was afraid that people would get mad if they had a paywall blocking people from higher drop rates. :P

It's hard to call it pay to win when Cata is significantly harder. A no-book Cata run is much harder than a full-book Legend run - the only times it isnt is when you have crap allies from randoms. I dont think theres any issue in Cata giving better loot - I would just give a agyranteed emp vault on Cata success, just so that people dont start hunting for books on Cata as well and ruining the experience.

Pretty new to the game myself, sitting at 190 hours right now. So the basics are very appreciated. I haven't counted my chests sadly, but I've gotten 5 reds in the time, and none of them I acquired before switching to legend difficulty. I'd also like to point out that completing a Chaos Wastes run gives you at least 2 emperor chests, and a 3rd if you scored well enough. Seems like a great way to farm reds, especially because your gear stats do not matter for this game mode. :)
