Demo of the Vermona DSR-3 stereo spring reverb, hand-crafted in Germany.
Moog Model 15 (sequence), Schertler Arthur Prime 13 analog mixer, TC Electronic D-Two delay.
Although I have used several even higher-end digital reverbs such as the Lexicon PCM 80, I have never been a fan of the digital quality of these effects, to which I prefer, from a strictly sound quality standpoint, all-analog spring reverbs such as the Vermona DSR-3, one of the few produced as a rack unit and in fact the only alternative to similar high-end models such as the AKG BX series of the 1970s and early 1980s or the current AudioScape XL-305R and the Springtime from IGS Audio.

Been looking at buying a used retro verb (the stereo one). But this one sounds lush🤔 , twice the money 🤦🏻

Hey, this sounds so good to me and I'm close to purchasing one, thanks for this! Would you be into posting a recording of drums through it. Would be super helpful to hear how the unit responds to percussive sounds. Thanks again for this one!

Thanks for your appreciation. At the moment I am too busy to do another specific demo, however I can say that also with the DSR-3 percussive sounds in general generate the kind of 'sproing' effect we all know from spring reverbs. For sounds with sharp transients I generally prefer digital reverbs such as the higher - end Lexicons even if their digital quality sounds less lush if compared with the Vermona, which sounds especially good with pads, drones and similar sounds with slow transients.

Huge amount of high frequency noise in this track. is that from the reverb?

love the sound , I don't understand why when you put 100% wet mix, the delay goes away ? what does the delay ? thanks

Yes, that's interesting, i didn't notice that in this quick demo; probably only the reverb sound comes out and the delay signal is suppressed in some way.

It would be in the same vein as I prefer the sound of a Hammond organ to an electronic organ😉😊

Indeed the original, electromechanical Hammond organs are soundwise far superior to the purely electronic ones. Never had one, but a friend of mine owns a B3 and that thing is impressive!

@@robertoraineriseith Why I like the sounds you build❤️ Even though it is electronic music, the sounds you create have a life force. It has brightness, strength, humor, and sometimes evilness😁

@@etsukomakizono2445 Glad you appreciate them, Etsuko! The sound quality of higher-end analog circuits is unbeatable, allows a wide range of interpretation and "comes through" even when recorded digitally!

@@robertoraineriseith it's a bit frustrating. When I first got into music I was so excited to combine genres and explore new sounds, but while daws provided all the tools I needed the sound just doesn't have the sweetness of my favorite music. Outboard gear, on the other hand, sounds beautiful but is so unbelievably expensive and very limited.

@@reecedeyoung6595 I absolutely agree. But for me the choice to go old school was in some way natural, because i set up my first home-studio in the 1980s with hardware only (2-3 synthesizers, a mixing board and 4-track tape recorder, a delay and a reverb outboard effect) and I have maintained this approach to this day. I see the whole studio as a unique musical instrument and use digital solely for recording purposes. All instruments go into an analog mixer and are recorded live in stereo in one take. Eventually I add something in post-production with Adobe Audition, but at most a couple of tracks. Even the effects like the DSR-3 are used as instruments because they behave that way, adding harmonics, colourations that digital does not allow.
