The full review of Vermont. I've played this ship a lot recently and now feel like I have a firm grasp of how to play this ship. I like it a lot, it might even be my favorite battleship at t10. The guns are that good.

People need to realize that everything that ships have exists to serve its offensive capability. When they designed and built ships, they started with the ammo first, then the gun, then the vessel to tote those guns around. That is why Vermont is powerful, and people will underestimate it. Vermont is balanced, and people only crap on it because it doesn't fit their play style.

I definitely agree with you, if someone would ask me what is my advise to playing the Vermont i would say "Position" and "Accuracy". I've hit ships to the citadel and even sunk alot of them with most 2 shots from a distance where they haven't been even able to spot me yet. I think that if you are really good at aiming, you could possibly sink the most ships in the gameplay because you only need one or two shots and especially cruisers and destroyers can be taken down long before they can reach you. So yeah the Vermont is definitely my favorite ship and i don't remember that I've ever been sunk by a CV before, the AA's are absolutely brilliant in my opinion and i also find that this ship turns better and faster than the Minnesota or Kansas comparing it's size against them. The only thing i would love is if Wargaming can make the battle service cost cheaper. It's fun to play this ship but damn it's expensive to run especially when you want to take a break from the Random battles and just enjoy a good Co-Op. I hear alot of negativity about the Vermont from players but i find it the best Tier X battleship so far. I just love to sink a ship with one shot on those twelve 18" guns.

I hated minnesota, and finally got the Vermont. I've only played 5 battles with it and while I do agrre with the fact that the guns are amazing and that good positioning is required for this ship there is one caveat: your teammates. This ship requires a somewhat competent team to do well, and with the current mm is just something that you can't rely on. Great vid as always.

To be honest if you're solo rando its best to lone wolf it most of the time as it's not really worth relying on teammates in random battles

@@victorfrankenstein8005 The problem is that we're using infantry tactics in a naval themed game, and infantry relies on support. By the time you're comitted with your Vermont, your teammates have disengaged, ran away, or are humping some island like it's a pornstar. And that leaves you in your slow war-cow to be farmed to death and called an idiot.

Honnestly i've had some good games with minnesota, it hits hard and accurately, nothing close to Kansas, this one was a real pain and I had a lot of hopes on it since I loved Colorado where I was always comfortable to make points.

@ANUBHAV SHARMA Are you crazy? Pommern is nothing but a horrible brawler. It is not competitive at all. Maybe in a 3 vs 3, but in a 7 vs 7 or so it is an absolute liability. Pommern is tier 9, with tier 7 guns and tier 6 dispersion. It is a joke of a battleship because a BB's main feature - the main guns - are terrible. Great if you play meme builds trolling your own team but consider playing good ships.

You really conviced me this is a good ship! At first the negatives make it look very bad, slower than any ship, longest reload time... But given how strong it is at punishing even heavy cruisers (who are even more tanky than BBs nowadays lmao) and how good is the AA potential, the ship is meta for sure. Comparing it to Shikishima, I'm not sure who's better, shoots twice as fast, for more but probably too much penetration, but less accuracy/alpha, and secondaries at the price of AA; yeah I'd definitly rather have AA.

I can confirm the Vermont is resistant to mvr dbs... most cits on any single pass i have made against a Vermont is 1 if any at all.. whereas any other bb i consistently get 2-3

At 10min mark, another couple big things that I am not sure are being mentioned later are 1. the very long torp belt and 2. the 38 plating. The ship is effectively fattier than 32mm bbs or doesnt struggle with AA or torps like other BBs do

Although I understand the idea of Vermont playstyle but it's not necessarily the one that I like. I'm a player who likes to fight in mid range. This is where the Ohio shines. Vermont heavily relies on landing that perfect salvo to make things easier. The other day, I pushed 2 Vermonts in my almost full health Ohio by being angled at both. Focused my secondaries on one and was hitting the other with main batteries. By the end of the fight, I had burned down one and killed the other and I was down to 10k health. This playstyle is much more satisfying for me rather than the slow playstyle that Vermont offers. But it's subjective, I think.

Nice! My favorite part with the battle sequences while you were talking was the enemy Jean B in chat after you killed him saying "Uh what the f$%& I was angled" Meet 457mm American Freedom shells xD haha. WoWS Wiki: Extremely vulnerable to flanking, and savvy opponents will find it easy to exploit this weakness, making the ship much less effective in competitive gaming. Well at that angle, because 457mm guns don't have any improved autobounce angles, if he shot the mid section of the JB it would've bounced - but he aimed for the stern cheek where it curves in just enough to give him that angle to penetrate through and hit the citadel

The worst way to face a Vermont in a Cruiser is when a Vermont suddenly appear out of nowhere in a island 10 km away and guns already facing at you. Theres no way you could survive that 😂

Angle away from your team and the enemy, crush broadsides. If there is a push coming right at you hunker dowm and use island armor as they come around the corners to deal with 1 pussher at a time. Follow and support the destroyer going to the weak side? Shoot him into the cap until he dies then kite away?

That was pretty angled. 32 degrees is almost auto-ricochet.

The thing with navigator is that it calculates angle based on the center of the ship. You can see PQ deliberately aim for the rear, where the angle isn't nearly as steep due to the shape of the hull. While the armor belt may have been 32-degree angled, the rear was probably more in the realm of 50-ish degrees, with the rounded part being almost flat broadside. The cit pen was likely the result of shells catching the rearmost portion of the citadel; athwartships pens at that angle are fairly unlikely, although not completely impossible with Vermont AP pen.

@ANUBHAV SHARMA not by much, its just a 4% increase in AP pen becuz spreadsheet says balanz and an increase to 1.7 sigma. (NC has 2.0 sigma for comparison) Don't worry, your AP will still shatter from 12km just like before, none of your shots will hit the citadel anyway so it doesn't matter.

How do you have the captain set up in the new skill system? I used Halsey and went with gun feeder, grease the gears, BOS, Concealment, Deadeye as the first 14, accepting the fire risk. Fire prevention will come when I hit 18. My real conundrum is how to manage slots 3 and 6. With Deadeye being a thing now, APR Mod 2 feels like a negotiable commodity to me and 24.5km before spotter plane is as far out as I can regularly hit most things at this tier anyway - MBM2 and MBM3 starts looking good for rate of fire and retention of good turret rotation. Also, is it just me, or do Vermont's shells come down from their apogee much faster than those of Kansas and MInnesota? I feel like the T8/9 shells get to the top of the arc and then spend FOR-EV-ER coming down on the target, and that's cost me quite a few heavy hits.

In this game, it is not the quality of the ship that will greatly influence your win rate but the MM. I have 56% win rate on the Monarch and a terrible win rate on the Vladivostok.

@@R-2500 Even for an above average player like me, I can manage to have 56% win rate in it. So, it is not a challenge at all for a unicum like him to have a video with the ship. The ship has crap armor but decent concealment, maneuverability and guns. You are not going to citadel many BBs with its AP shells but you have higher chance to do full damage on cruisers. And its HE shells are British HE after all, even if they are only 380 mm shells.

Vermont feels so monstrous my shirt is already wet from my sweating. Just look at how much dmg you did to that Amagi at 2:15 ...god forbid if I was at the receiving end with my Richelieu. And it already had enough from all the HE spamming Thunderers. Another thing, I checked the artillery chart for Montana and Vermont; turns out their shell flight time is pretty similar. These American BBs are a meme straight from WG. They took the stereotypes about US citizens and made a ship from it: slow, ugly, fat, dumb, mostly useless. It is nothing but a Pinata ready to be farmed. So far I had nothing but a dmg farming fest in destroyers and cruisers against it. And it is already disappearing from the setlists. After the initial spike you see it less and less.

Like the slava, this ship is not meant for competitive plays. The lack of speed makes it meh and in KOTS, you'll mostly be seing stalingrads where your guns and slow speed will do you crap. Tldr: Ohio or Montanna is a better pick for competitive.

I read the comments and alot of people dislike this ship. I prefer it that way so there is less people playing it and less chance of it getting nerfed. Great video and I agree fantastic ship. First few games were easy one sided wins so barely got any damage as it takes time for it to rack up the number but in evenly matched games or more passive games it starts to flex and devastate the enemy. I love hard hitting accurate BBs and nothing does it better then Vermont in my opinion.

This very long reload often enables it to go stealth again and slap ppl from insane ranges, I actually don t find that good for the game at all. Whilst I do see reasons why overmatch can be justified as an element in the game in general, I don t think it s healthy but if there s one line that needs it, it s the slow USN one as they pay for it with the atrocious rld. Won t bother grinding this line due to the slow rld, it feels much more rewarding to shoot more often and play with a ship s mobility instead of waiting for one big RNG based blap every 40ish secs.

@@Peacecamper I get it that you can tell who *could* be shooting at you based on the minimap, but how can you tell that someone actually fired on you? Is there some visual cue other than the indicator I mentioned?

@@Peacecamper Depends on which ship you talk about. I use it on all the light cruisers and most heavy cruisers. Being aware where all your enemies are ,does not let you time your dodge correctly when shells are coming from every direction. And if you keep looking 360 degrees for incoming fires, you are not able to aim at anyone. Flamu also claims it is not necessary but I think it is BS. Other CC like Aeroon found it very useful.

@@jessyschoss You can see their shells. Look at the ship whose shells are dangerous to you. Watch them fire. You can speed juke and turn based on where the shells are actually heading.

But - (1) my setup is the max info on ship icon (forgot how it's called), so I don't see the shells right away and (2) I still need to actually look at ship firing at me to evade in time. When it's behind an island or 20+ km away, that's not practical. I am using the IFA for almost all CA+BB and it works really well. It's a good investment of 1 skill point

Game certainly needs more BBs that want to sit back and snipe. Just wait for the skill rework; getting hammered from 30+km will be almost as popular as CVs, lol. I'd suggest you overlooked another negative of this ship: its speed means it's more dependent on not having a team full of clowns than other BBs.

If you think about it you could have a 20 second reload and still out perform most BBS by timing your front guns to shot first then in 20 seconds you shoot the back ones and there you go you become something like a nc or an Iowa

I absolutely love the Tillman BB's. they fit my play style perfectly. Do you feel the buffs for the KS and MN are going to make a significant difference? I'd already thought the MN was a good ship, but i was hearing a LOT of backlash about the KS.

there's no Tillman BBs in the game though. you could say that vermont is vaguely inspired by a Tillman BB, but the actual Tillman designs had more guns and more speed.

PQ, dont you think that adding MORE weapons that you cant angle against is just another nerf to battleships? the SAP battleships , HE spam from everything, torp walls, cv undogeble strikes, and honestly the massive proliferation of 18 inch guns on battleships, it really is getting to the point that armor is pointless. in some cases it actually makes it so you take more damage then if you had less armor. its almost like tier 5-8 is the only fun you're going to have in this game in a battleship. after that unless you're some unicum player, you're just going to get farmed by everyone, or you're going to hang around in the back somewhere.

i played it twice in randoms froma distance andout of 50 hits i did only 8900 dmg and have no problems with the yam kurfurst or the thunderer. coop is easy to get good hits but not liking it much yet. only 6 skill comander and no upgrades though

When i see a Vermont !! I load HE everytime !!! Thunderer loves farming these thick ships !!! Montana can citadel angled Vermont though , i have done it many times in my Montana !! I think despite low calibre guns it feels Montana has better penetration than Vermont

Do you have like semi up-to-date reviews to the ships that are on the road to Vermont (so Kansas and Minnesota that is) I know you had a video about Kansas like am onth or two ago, but maybe your thoughts have changed since then? Would be interesting to hear what you think of the ships BEFORE this ship. Cus I got to admit, I feel I can outaim most people, BUT get trolled waaaaaay too much with dispersion (I guess that's what I pay for liking german and russian BBs though) so Vermont would prolly be a ship I like/enjoy. BUT I hear soooooo many negative things about the two ships before it though, and would be interesting to hear about them from a player of your calibre.

Ikr I have no idea what to do with the Kansas, I only get 120k+ games in it by getting lucky and using it like New Mexico. Stick around on a defending side and ambush any BBs around islands. The dispersion is just awful at range, so I'd rather trade slightly more hp for guaranteed damage at short ranges.

Why, exactly, would you use this ship over Republique or Ohio? Fully kitted out, Vermont has a DPM of 283k (or 322k if you go reload over accuracy). 1.95 sigma. Republique has 330k (with reload). 2.00 sigma (but no USN acc upgrade in slot 6) Ohio has 275k (312k with reload). 2.00 sigma. Ohio gets the option of secondaries if you want, but if you ignore them she gets a very serviceable 25km range. In other words... all of these ships have the same style of guns: 30mm overmatch, good sigma, very high penetration. They also have, all things considered, fairly similar DPM. Why would you, after admitting that tankiness is not really a very important stat, choose the ship that comes with a 7 kt tax? Good positioning is not just location, it's timing... and it's not just on you, the enemy gets a say too.

AP is bad against BBs and cannot citadel. Many times, shooting AP to a broadside BB did not reward me with a higher damage than shooting it with HE. Also, conqueror gun accuracy is low.

It just shows you how deluded wargaming is when a 1920s BB and a DD are the two most effective ships against aircraft. However everything you said about the ship is quite accurate.

Vermont even though could be a 1920s ship, in the game is has been modernized to the WWII level like Texas for example. Vermont is really big with lots of places to put AA on it, it's not so far away from what it could have been in my opinion.

Well, I wouldn't say it's the *best* battleship, but it's a good ship especially when you get the base reload down to 33 secs or so plus adrenaline rush and even Halsey

I get it hits hard but dam it's the slowest bb and it should have a slower reload but more around 34 to 36 cause 40. Its almost like multiple things happen before you shoot and if dd sneaks up🤷‍♂️☠

Surprised you wouldn't go reload mod instead of range. Already hitting 24km without spotter, and reload mod cuts reload time on those guns by 4.8 seconds.

In Thunderer you can reposition so mutch easyer. I never palyer vermont, but i want to play it on pt server, just that i get my personaly experience in this ship. But for now, i would take Thunderer over vermont. Me personaly.

Why have I never seemed to have been in battle as EASY as some of the best players in the game go in.... A Des Moines dumb enough just sit in the middle broadside to a Vermont and not seem to do anything to try to turn in... a Mino that litterally suicides by staying broadside super close to the cap mouth opening.... petro that's dumb enough to remain broadside after he see himself get double citadeled.... and that was just that last match.... don't even get me started on the first one. Almost what makes me think these matches get staged. Yes, I meet some UNBELIEVABLE stupidity in randoms, but most of the time they stay at a long range away so they aren't getting as easily cross-fired from the other side. When there is stupidity, normally they all just die within the first 5 to 10 minutes and I don't have that quick of a reload to punish them all before my team does.
