VERNANTE the town of Pinocchio - Italy Slow Travel

Vernante is a cute mountain town near Cuneo. The Pinocchio illustrator spent a big part of his life here and the town has embraced the Pinocchio story. Throughout the town you will find over 160 Pinocchio murals, primarily reproductions of the original story's drawings.
The collection of drawings is a big tourist attraction and local painters keep adding to the collection. We really enjoyed walking around the town in search of these murals, they are literally everywhere. It's a perfect short getaway if you are in the area and want a more relaxed day.
The village also offers many hikes as well as a top restaurant in the Cuneo area, which we left for our next visit.

Vernante was like walking through a storybook. This is why we love the slow travel that we're doing, finding these little places that are not known to the vast majority of tourists. When our Airbnb hosts told us there was this town that had murals of Pinocchio throughout, we had to go!
