November 5th, 2023, a time I’ll never forget. I met Veronica Taylor at the George R Brown Convention Center in Houston. I shook hands with her, we had a picture together. She signed the autographs for me of April O’Neil of 2003 TMNT and of Ash Ketchum of the original Pokémon series. She even gave me such a big hug. She truly has a heart of gold.💛

Another great podcast, thank you! I love Veronica Taylor, she's such a lovely person! I was lucky enough to have met her at a comic con in London a few years back (her AND the OG cast! Childhood dream!) she had SO many people come to see her, & even stayed much later then she should have despite the staff saying it was time to end the session for the day. Not everyone had gotten to see her (the line was huge all day!) people had been waiting hours. She stayed on anyway just so that she could meet everybody. She was so easy to talk to as well! She made a lot of people happy, so thank you for your dedication, & to all the cast for the amazing work that they do/did! (The guy who played Mewtwo was hilarious! 😆). Thanks again to Jim & the Team for another awesome show!

Hands down, one of the best deliveries of a line I have ever heard was from a voice actors panel at Emerald City ComicCon in I think 2014. Jim was reading lines from A New Hope, Darth Vader specifically, as Pooh. He even threw in that patent Pooh chuckle at the perfect moment. Absolute professional.

Having listened to a bunch of audiobooks, I feel like recording one is kind of like reading to A child, in the sense that you're taking up the authors's role as narrator as well as performing different voices in order to support The listener in having a different mental image of each character. Someone in Veronica's position would probably have to mark up a copy of each book or something in order to keep track of which voice to do when.

Pokémon never felt the same for me when they replaced Veronica. I remember crying over it as a kid when it happend. Man I would love it so much, now that Ash's journey has ended, if somehow Veronica could re dub Ash on all the other seasons and movies so we have her complete performance through the whole of Ash's journey. The 4kids dub era of the pokemon anime just had so much more heart and character than the shinoh onward dub which might be more accurate but its way more clinical and bland.. (Xyz is still the best when it comes to the base writing but the original cast and crew would have boosted it more)

The 4kids actors were more expensive and it was less expensive to hire American actors. 4 Kids lost the rights to Pokemon. Also 4 Kids shut down in 2012.

Yes, the work they did during the indigo league has a special place in our hearts. But from the Hoenn saga onwards, Ash's voice just got so pathetic and irritating, not to mention the 4kids disaster: Trainer's choice during the break. So yeah, it was for the right reason 4kids had to be removed.

Disagree. I think the video games launched that franchise. The show is just daily advertising of that game that happened to become a cultural phenomenon. (Case in point: as a child I loved the series. But as an adult I stopped watching but still play the games) I’m ok that their tenure didn’t last forever. No job should last forever. Let other talent have a go. It’s an opportunity to move onto something new for the cast. They are still getting royalties and making Con appearances. They are fine. It’s not a snub. It’s called moving on. This comment is a discredit to the creators, the writers on the show, the designers who create new Pokémon, and the developers who write the games.
