Great tips! Connected Speech is important both for listening and speaking (in that particular order). What's great about connected speech is that it is easy to get. You just need to pay a little bit of attention for some time, start recognizing some patterns and then, if you choose, apply it to your speaking.

I stopped studying for while but it's awesome because I could understand you easily.. is it possible to forget a language someday? I already read a bunch of books on KZbin.. but sometimes i overthink in my mind: what if I forget everything I learned? Well, currently I can remember nowadays.. my pass memory it's incredible

Yeah when we don't use the language, we start to forget it which is natural
@MaxEnglishCoach
@MaxEnglishCoach 2 жыл бұрын
the question is how comfortable are you allowing English to be a part of your life? If you've already integrated it into your life (reading/watching/listening) then I wouldn't worry so much about forgetting it. If you're not putting it practice, it will get "rusty", but as you start using it again you will get back to your previous level eventually.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon! 🙏 Thank you So Much! You're Wonderful!

4:36 It's NOT "gʊɾeɪ": the "d" of "day" is a real one - it's "gʊʔ deɪ" (ʔ representin' a glottal stop). It seems that there's a very fast, almost inaudible transitional schwa sound from "ʊʔ" to "d", so, I guess, a more accurate transcription would be: "gʊʔ(ə) deɪ". In any case, with or without the schwa, it's not "gʊɾeɪ"...

As a native speaker I'd caution against the "I met the James yesterday". That doesn't really seem like something I'd often say or hear. Where it would come in would be as a more advanced variant. Consider the singer James Brown (who might not be still with us but ok let's go with that as an example.) It's a famous person who has a relatively common name. Person A: "I met James Brown yesterday." Person B: "You mean *the* James Brown?" Person A: "Yes! *The* James Brown!" That would be entirely natural. But it's more of a specific case. Also and here we pronounce the "the" with an "eee" sound as part of the formula even though it's before a consonant! Also I can't even imagine how you learn all these rules for connected speech! I watch them and I know none of them intellectually - it's just how we talk. But it tells me I'm going to have to learn all of this in French which is scary. I think this connected speech stuff is really the "secret sauce" and far, far, far from easy!
