I think i am now at intermediate level having said that i was horrible at speaking. Every time i start speaking, i was like complete beginner but these days i am beginning to feel comfortable with my speaking because i do a lot of listening. In my case listening and practicing speaking afterwards has helped me lot. From Nepal 🇳🇵❤❤

I’m a current English learner. I used to learn English by watching TED talk, but I soon realized that it was too difficult for me, and then I’ve changed my way to study and started watching other videos, which used way easier vocab than TED talk, and that really works well. I appreciate my decision, and your video reinforced my opinion. I like your thoughts you show on your videos.😊

👍🏻 Your English is excellent and at some point, I couldn’t even imagine that your first language is Russian because I would say that English is your first language because you are from the US. I know that those people who have been living in the US for years and English is not their first language, but they speak English as if it is their first language. Those people who speak English everywhere in their daily lives are lucky. Unfortunately I am not one of them, but I am bilingual and I speak English and Russian every day. I don’t live in English speaking country and no one speaks English with me: The question is how can I speak English fluently if I don’t have anyone who can talk to me? I talk to myself in English every day about different things. I speak English with my mom, but she doesn’t feel comfortable speaking English with me and she mostly speaks Russian with me because she is not very fluent in English, but I do my best to help her as much as I can. Some people still can ask me different questions when I speak English: how did you learn English? I remember the time when I was in the UK, I was asked: is English your native language? And I said: not really, my first language is Russian since it was the only language I heard when I was a kid and I grew up in a Russian🇷🇺 Family. Therefore, some people in the UK confused me with a native speaker because I spoke with an American accent and they thought that I am from the US. 🇺🇸I have an extensive vocabulary in English and suppose I know 10 000 words. I use advanced English C1 level, but I have a dream to achieve my goal and I want to have C2 level. I had to work so hard to learn the language and I did it myself, no one helped me and all these lessons with the tutors were a waste of time, so I realized that I can do it myself and I am proud that I managed to do it. I watch the movies only in English, I am constantly reading something on the internet, including the daily news because I want to be aware of everything what’s going on in the world. I listen to the music and I use slang, idioms, abbreviations and etc. I write a lot in English and sometimes I can start talking a lot, but when I am depressed, I can’t find the right words and I guess this is because of my mental health because I feel upset when things are different in my life and I am very desperate. However, I don’t give up when I have to deal with different circumstances in my life. My goal is to make my dreams come true. I hope I’ll make true friends and I’ll communicate with them. I am friendly, kind, loyal and decent. Those friends who betrayed me, it’s not fair and I would never do the same with others. I have a kind heart. Who wants to know more about me my Instagram is johny_jutta21 I’d be happy to chat with new people and make new friends. ☺️

@@SrfgtjcicSfjejdkkx I started learning English when I was 15 and before that I only knew basic words. I always think about how much I regret that I didn’t learn the language in my childhood, but the main thing is that I speak English at the native level, I speak two languages every day since I am bilingual. Unfortunately, I don’t live in an English speaking environment, so mostly I talk to myself and I read, watch movies only in English and I have a friend who speaks English to me when we talk on the phone.

STRATEGIES 1. 80/ 20 learn less study smarter: learn common vocabulary/ words, not the advanced but the every day - Anki app - Quilk bot: for making sure your writing is error free. 3. Use it or lose it principle: "Immersion", if you feel you're forgetting a lenguage, start surrounding yourself (KZbin videos, podcast, etc) 4. Total physical response: use physical actions and movements for remembering - Try to mimic the actors while you're watching a movie -Shadowing: repeat the words, use the same gestures, etc. 5. The input hypothesis: slightly above your current level. the material have to be easy but a little bit challenging, just right.

I think in my opinion the best way to improve your English is always study grammar, but it's very very important you find someone who speaks English either, because we can be much passive when we are learning some language, and one important thing don't have fear to make some mistakes when you're writing or talking to someone.

I believe you can achieve a reasonable level of fluency in any language in less than 3 years. Faster than that... is, in my opinion, impossible. Unless you change your definition of fluency. If your goal is simply to talk to native speakers, you can learn simple vocabulary and simple grammar and then be able to say simple sentences like "this is a pen". Most native speakers will understand you, and as long as they also speak in a simple way, you will be able to understand them. So you will be able to talk to native speakers. I never use ANKI, I never use flashcards, I never try to memorize lists of words. In theory it makes sense, but in practice, I don't think it works. Trying to memorize a list of words out of context is too boring, hard, tiring. And most textbooks already have vocabulary lists. So simply reading a textbook seems to be better.

Bunch of thank yoy for your help. I have learned vocabulary with pictures and I can easily remember it. I will try to learn vocabulary in an active way and you mentioned that you see pictures with words, and you do the same thing to create sentences. It is an interesting and effective way to learn vocabulary. I started to showdowing a method and it was difficult for in my initial stage. I will also try what you said about the showdowing method. I have always tried new things and also found effective way for myself.

Native speakers often use poor grammar, so most of them won’t care if yours isn’t perfect (unless you are taking an English exam!). If your meaning isn’t clear, most people will ask questions to make sure they understand you. Don’t panic about speaking. No-one expects you to be perfect!
