Verrazano added a hard-fought victory in the Grade 1, $1 million Wood Memorial at Aqueduct Racetrack to extend his perfect record to 4-for-4 on Saturday, turning back previously undefeated Vyjack and then holding off a rousing late run from Normandy Invasion to win by three-quarters of a length.

I had Freedom Child at 47-1 and in double with the 29-1 winner of the finale that was paying $1,600. I was not pleased. Did have him and the exacta in the Peter Pan though.
