Funny my friend also fell while I filmed him on the Verreal F1. But we didn’t lose the board and his injuries were minor. 😄

Damn, sorry for your rider, hope he will recover fully! How did he get a concussion with the helmet on? He didn't seem to hit the ground on the vid, did he bang his head against the guard rail? These rigid decks and thin plastic wheels are very dangerous on sudden tactile pavement and bad gravel.
@skatemetric627

He hit his head against the concrete barrier between the walking path and the freeway. To be clear, the helmet did take some of the impact, but we think the sudden rotation might have been responsible for the surprisingly serious outcome. Definitely a good reminder to ride in decently open areas when possible.

perhaps your rider will consider new helmet with MIPS technology?

Impressive review, as always. Also that race simulator is a nice addition to the website (why isn't the 12s monster there?). Also, I know you have the parts for doing so: there are many comparisons between dual 6355 vs dual 6374 (or 5065), but all of them are basically useless since they use either different battery configurations or different kv motors, even different gearing, so they are always biased (and stupid). Do you think you can make a comparison between motors with same specs but different sizes? The battery is the bottleneck usually, so you might have to go lipo or multiple li-ion packs in parallel. Reach out to a supplier and see if they can provide you some samples for review in exchange for promoting them. Theoretically they should perform the same if they have the same kv, gearing and battery, but everyone is biased towards 6374

For the "foosted board" how did you hide the wiring between enclosures, or did you not? I've already built on electric skateboard but I put it all in one enclosure.

Your virtual drag race is Awesome! Just wanted to point out, in that tool, it seems that the Boosted mini X is set to top out at 18mph like the S, not 20.
@skatemetric627
@skatemetric627 6 жыл бұрын
The virtual drag race tool animates the data we collected when we benchmarked the board, which in this case didn't exactly match Boosted's claim.

Oh okay sounds good. Just curious, why do you guys use the Stealth instead of the Foosted regularly? I have both (I used a 16/36 gearing) and I prefer my DIY much better. Is it because of the control interface? I use this: www.electric-skateboard.builders/t/simple-3d-printed-nrf-remote-arduino-controlled/28543/1576

We actually use the Foosted as much or more as the Stealth in the making of these reviews. Generally, we just take whichever board we have on hand, and that happened to be the Stealth on the day we filmed this. These nRF24-Arduino controllers look very cool. We've been considering building one once we crank out reviews for the many boards we've recently been sent.

You should give the Yeeplay m2s a try, it seems like one of these boards but at a much lower price point.

Tell me about this, I ride among cars in a capital city in vast speeds, this is my nightmare, unfortunately it happens about 10 times a day (usually without the falls until today when I fell on a wet asphalt and brutally crashed... I am starting to realize that riding electric longboard is one of the most dangerous sports you can ever do... Parachuting is nothing in comparison... I mean where can you tell someone you experience the "holy shit" moment 10 times a day...
@Skapo
@Skapo 5 жыл бұрын
The problem is largely the lack of experience required to get up to ridiculous speeds. As a street skateboarder, you usually fall a bagillion times at vastly lower speeds and learn how to properly interpret your environment in the process. You also learn how to take falls more readily. Fast speeds and rough terrain generally meant having to be hyper aware. Many e-skaters get comfortable at speed before they really learn to fall. The worst accidents by far tend to be when you get too comfortable and something catches you off guard. Haha This is why a stray pebble is a skaters' worst enemy. Generally catches you when you don't even see it. We have to be crazy aware of tiny little things on the path. Sorry you fell hard!

That's good advice Skapo, I agree. I've just got back into riding on a normal skateboard after a 38 year period of not riding, and within the first day I got caught off guard by a seed pod from a tree and crashed into the 3rd rock from the sun at about 3mph, causing a 'slight graze' which took many weeks to heal. But since then I've taken an extra cautious approach, always make a close observation of the path in advance (a 'reconnaissance' run) and I read the road surface like a book, virtually watching it like a hawk, yet not let my concentration spoil the ride. Anyway, I've overcome the temptation to quit, and I really enjoy getting on the board for those adhoc opportunities, and I'm glad I didn't wait another 38 years before I gave it a second thought! The best thing I did was set up my board by replacing a few parts; (a) a nice cruiser longboard deck, (b) OJ Thunderjuice 75mm wheels, and (c) full ceramic bearings. I've been tempted to get an e-board, but unfortunately they are not legal in my country (anything with wheels and a motor is considered a vehicle and must be approved & licensed), so I'll stick with a conventional board for now. jirka merunka's comments about the danger are spot on. If you have the right mental approach, understand the risks, and stay within your limits, hopefully we'll all ride safe and ride another day. I prefer to pick my time & place to ride, so whilst that creates self-imposed limits, I don't regret being sensible about it. SkateMetric's KZbin clip is good, making some good points about the Verreal F1's pros & cons, so I appreciate his unbiased & informative report.

That's the thing... Riding an electric longboard among cars is something totally different from riding downhills... You can't slide, you can't carve when there are cars beside you... There is just so much stuff that will happen, experience or no experience... And learning how to fall, this goes for downhills, not roads... You can't learn how to fall when you all of a sudden hit a manhole cover that you could not see before as there are cars in front of you... I am glad I filled my adrenaline to max in those two days and then went to bike paths... O was going to kill myself for sure... I still am I guess, but what can you do... I can't stop riding.... Who cares where my girlfriend is, my board is charging... that's all that matters...

We haven't tried the Juiced board, but I'm observing that the Verreal has a higher top and (imo) a much nicer aesthetic.
