Court Tiles $4500.
Hoop $2200.
Patio/sublayer/surrounding aesthetics all depends on your preference. My yard is on a slope so we had to add additional soil, build an 18" concrete footing at the end and went with a 5" slab. Once completed, additional soil was added to grade the ground around the court and finish it with sod. Concrete cost was $10k.
Sod/soil $2k.
Install for hoop was about $600.

You did an absolutely fantastic job on that, my next door neighbor once had a beautiful half court he made all by himself and had it for years. Sadly he passed away and two months later his wife had it all dug up with heavy equipment, I couldn't believe it. I guess she never liked it, because she planted grass there and let the yard grow back.

Appreciate the kind words. Thank you! I guess she'll get more use out of the yard with the grass being there. I can't imagine ripping mine apart, but if I was to ever change it, I'd perhaps build an entertainment area on the concrete slab.

We get our Megaslam XL installed (well started) tomorrow! We are all really excited about it. My court which is 31' from the hoop, seems small for a hoop like this but really the 72 model is as big as the XL is only a little bigger with the pole and an extra foot of overhang. I figured just get the best when it's so close in price.

@djshag
@djshag 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Marlon - Thanks for watching. The Megaslam XL is a solid hoop. Does not move at all. I'm curious if I'll have to eventually tighten any of the bolts over time but, so far so good. Even with strong winds, I have not seen the hoop move or shake. It's nice to have the option to lower it, but 99% of the time it sits at 10ft.

Nice, if I ever spent the money on a court like this, I would make sure there was enough room on the sides, so you could shoot 3s from the sides as well. Either way, looks really nice, I wonder how this court material would hold in colder climates?
@djshag
@djshag 4 жыл бұрын
Yaaaa...If I had the room, I would've done it. City limits you to how much of your yard is covered and doesn't allow more than 50% of your property to be covered. Holds up fine over the winter season based on other folks I've spoken to. We've had this go through 1 winter season so far and no issues at all.

What company did you use to grade the sod and soil around the court , it looks really good since your yard is on a slope. I have a similar situation now where I have a slope at 13” on one side and need to build up the grade to the court. Is the versa court good for the knees?
@djshag
@djshag 3 жыл бұрын
Hard Rock Design who did my concrete work also did the grading, soil and sod. You can always get your landscaper to do this as well. Just make sure that the slab has a footing at the end of the slope to avoid cracks in the middle of your pad over time.. Yes, the court tile is gentle on your knees. The sound is also absorbed a bit.

@jonathanshaw9674 3 жыл бұрын
Shaggy - Awesome! The DIY design feature on the website makes the graphite color look a little brownish for some reason. Does the graphite color hide footprints and dirt well? I was considering black but it’ll probably show every single blemish. I also noticed you mentioned the court needing to cure for 28 days. Did you literally let the concrete slab sit for that long before you stepped foot on it?
@djshag
@djshag 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, graphite does hide it well. While black will show dirty foot prints, nothing a little rain won't take care of. Based on our emails, you have a couple options to consider :) Concrete just needs to cure for 28 days before you seal it. You can step on it as soon as 24 hours, but just wait 28 days at minimum to seal it.

Thank you! No issues over winter. Snow and Ice simply melts /drains through the court tiles. Still looks brand new. Not sure how much value it add's as its hard to quantify that but I'm sure it would for the right buyer. In my opinion its better on the knees and offers better grip vs. concrete.

I am a sports floor saller. This kind of floor can be used in the hot Middle East and the cold northern Europe. @djshag
@djshag 4 жыл бұрын
@@lifeofsubstance9724 NBA Range would be 23',9". NCAA was 19',9" and then changed in 2008 to 20',9". This year it changed to 22',1" to meet international regulations. Mine is at 20',5". The boarder where the grey tile meets the dark grey is exactly at 23',9".

Court Tiles $4500, Hoop $2200. Patio/sublayer/surrounding aesthetics all depends on your preference. My yard is on a slope so we had to add additional soil, build an 18" concrete footing at the end and went with a 5" slab. Once completed, additional soil was added to grade the ground around the court and finish it with sod. Concrete cost was $10k, Sod/soil $2k.

$2200 from a professional installer?? it's $2250 if you buy direct and install yourself, so its even cheaper to get it professionally installed? did you get a special deal on it, or buy it during some kind of sale?
