I remember watching 22 teams at Long Beach in the 70s and early 80s. I say the more the merrier .
@dannyboy-vtc57414 ай бұрын
They had pre qualis back then, the number of cars has always been limited. I also remember when they allowed f2 cars to race as there wasn't enough f1 cars for a full grid. Lamenting history makes no sence, rules change, f1 before tv and post tv isn't the same, likewise pre and post social media. I remember when it was a sport for us petrolheads only, when i turned the antenna to catch orf, austrian tv because ours didn't emit free practices back then, times change.

F1 cars are huge now. They need many more plus should add classics cars, fire trucks, high school bands and confirm it is just the Monaco parade.

In the cost cap era teams bringing a upgrade or partial upgrade to one car is common, all teams have done this just this year alone. The investment on just a new front wing for a team is close to 100k a piece. If the sim data on a new wing is inconclusive as far as gains a team would be crazy to start producing multiple numbers of them.
@neil58724 ай бұрын
You're right Cam, the Andretti issue is prob. just a negotiation about the franchise fee, its been like that with "expansion" in almost all usa pro sports for at least 50 years basically add new teams and share the wealth in the dilution to value to existing teams, seems to be the model, not sure if that could apply to F!/Liberty but why not?

Until he has more race wins this year, then, I can say that he is not in a real title fight. Let us wait till the end of this first half of the season, then, we can now talk about Leclerc being in a genuine title fight.

Hi, Lewis always tells everything that can help himself....as it now appears, given your wing subject. Formula 1 is about money, so do you really think that there would be even one team that would deliberately weaken itself? Of course not, don't be stupid and we have now had plenty of time to see how Lewis keeps his own PR machine running! And Cameron, have you ever noticed that when you talk about a driver's dominance, you consistently fail to mention the most dominant driver and team ever in Formula 1? Why do you do that or is it completely unconscious? 8 Constructors' World Titles and 6 Drivers' World Titles in a row... that's some dominance! And I completely agree with your Charles analysis, of course he's going for the World Title:-)

Doubt Lecrec would win the title this year. The Red Bull is gonna streak away on more conventional tracks. But the constructors is well within reach.

Cameron good Sir, greetings from Australia. Unfortunately this is just driven by greed. F1 is just a business. The team principals should practice what they preach. It’s meant to be about the best teams and best drivers in the world? So let’s see that, they are making enough coin, at least give them an opportunity. Liberty media wants to make enough money so a new team can get a piece of the pie? Get 20 Karts independently tested and run the same tyres and put the current drivers on the grid in a special event. Why not add the reserve drivers as well? See how good these young guys are. I would definitely pay to watch that…

Probably 2022, When he spun at the Hungaroring, chasing Charles, he was very lucky that day. Just as Hamilton looked untouchable for years, but before having a dominat car, he wa sclasing every other race race with felipe Massa, and you see how many mistakes he has done in the last couple of years. Charles never had the luxury of driving a dominant car, his Ferraris, apart from 2022 where very hard cars to drive, and many times were around places they had no right to be, just because Charles was driving without no limit whatsoever. Sainz made more mistakes in the same amout of time, driving the same car, and yet was significantly slower, and I regard Carlos as a very solid driver.@@Cameron-Cc

Also, you keep refering to Charles as the modern day jean Alesi (not sure if you mean it in a bad way), well jean was one of the most talented drivers i ever saw, probably the best wet weather driver after Gilles, and in terms of raw talent he was up there with Michael and Mika. Michel just had a diferent mentality and work ethics that took him to another level, and Mika had the raw speed and teh acr to go with it. Many have this idea that Jean was just a fast fool, crashing everytime, but this couldn't be further from the truth, he was in 1997 the most reliable driver on the grid, and he made few mistakes compared to the risks he was taking to drive those Ferraris.
