I think you're giving Max too much credit. For those of us with no first hand racing experience much less driving a F1 car, just driving an F1 car with no other car around, at full race pace, naturally can seem pretty daunting. These drivers though, by the time they reach F1, they have anywhere from 10 to 15 years of karting/racing experience so multitasking isn't hard. Most F1 drivers today are playing with their steering wheel controls sometimes multiple times in a single lap.

I’m not British, but Max’s reputation is his own doing. He was the only one defending Nelson Piquet’s racism while he doesn’t know a word Brazilian- Portuguese.
