its been a long time since i've read the chaos king story, but i'd give it to the marquis for one reason. chaos king wasn't ALWAYS ridiculously OP, he went around killing gods and stealing their power, slowly amping his power up like a celestial version of Cell from DBZ. the marquis was shown to have control over space AND TIME so in theory could go back to before Mikaboshi even really became the chaos king and destroy him then.

Reality warping aside, the nature of the Marquis of Death...Clyde, is essentially not a part of the Marvel Universe. Clyde accesses the Marvel Universe from outside of it. He's like a reader/writer/character. Which is why he seems to be able to control everything and everyone inside of it. In a sense, Clyde is an extension or maybe even an avatar or rendition of us placing ourselves into the MU. Once inside of the Marvel Universe he succumbs to the strain of fighting himself. So while an environment is provided for the battle, the impact of the battle still comes from himself. He is only weak to himself. Being weakened by himself makes him weak to a degree to the environment he infiltrated. He lost himself. MOD is very Meta now that I think about it. Chaos King and Oblivion are anchored to the Marvel Universe as abstract entities of that universe. They cannot step outside of it, nor exist outside of it. They are subject to the writer and to a limited way the reader via interpretation and imagination. Thus they are subject to Clyde's whims when not weakened by fighting with himself. MOD has it

Beings like him and perpetua(the presence) create omniverses for shits and giggles. The point i'm making is that there needs to be an end of the line, be wary lest TOAA suffer the same fate as Galactus and Fin Fan Foom before him.

The only reason I said Oblivion is because him being the void at the end of things may mean that while he's got nothing on the TOAA power wise, he'll eventually consume him at the end of time similar to how Death from the Endless or Mistress Death does. Apart from that I don't see anyway they can top secret wars stakes and while that DEFINITELY shouldn't be their focus (they should focus on making good stories first), an event such as this would change the landscape of the 616 universe in a way we've never seen before

Are you stupid? Marquis killed eternity and had to go from universe to universe killing everyone. While chaos king is as strong as multi eternity, who is so much stronger than eternity. And chaos king just wrecked nearly all the pantheons of gods, heroes of earth and more than 97% of the marvel multiverse. He was also stated to be the greatest threat the multiverse has seen. While marquis of death was defeated by the heroes of earth 616, and although they had a young Clyde and other comic bullshit to help them, it still counts. While the chaos king absolutely wrecked everyone and everything.

I think that this is going to be a "he who strikes first, wins" situation. The Marquis of Death could wave his hand and eliminate the entire universe the Chaos King exists in, then just hop on out to another universe. However, the Chaos King could theoretically kill the Marquis. This is a hard one, because the Marquis is clearly a multiversal threat, when the Chaos King, as far as I can tell, has always been confined to one universe - but the Marquis isn't nearly as durable to punishment. I think when it comes down to it, the Marquis takes it simply because of the reality warping. If he doesn't want to die, he can just will himself to live, teleport out and wipe the whole universe from existence. He could just spawn endless numbers of literal gods to go and fight the Chaos King forever until he either wears down or is struck down. Hell, the Marquis could just spawn ANOTHER CHAOS KING and have them fight each other. He is the representation of a reader's imagination being able to change a story.

It was still a universal Eternity (which, by the laws of the Marvel Multiverse, is just one of infinite amounts of Eternity's since every universe has an Eternity) while Chaos King destroyed 98% of said infinite Multiverse (even though that shouldn't make sense since it's infinite but whatever). If there's an infinite number of universes, that doesn't mean there's some non-infinite number but more keep showing up, it means there's an infinite number of them. If you destroy 4 universes for every 5 in the multiverse, you've destroyed 80% of the multiverse. If it's infinite, you have to have destroyed an infinte number of universes to do this, even though you haven't destroyed everything. This is mathematically possible and can theoretically be done by the right kind of reality warping power or abstract entity, but it doesn't make sense as something you can assign a real number to because of the nature of infinities. Entities powerful enough to achieve this kind of feat are absurd and make no sense using normal thought processes but there is a logical framework within which you can understand them conceptually. If you're in a constantly expanding multiverse with new universes showing up at some unspecified rate, and in a given moment, there are 100,000 universes, and you desroy 80,000 of them before another universe can form, you've destroyed 80% of the multiverse, but it'll replenish if you can't somehow cut off the production of new universes. And if you're in that constantly expanding multiverse and you destroy the 100,000 universes that existed when you started, but 25,000 new universes have shown up while you were doing so, you've also destroyed 80% of the multiverse, at least within that instant, and you potentially could maintain a lower rate of destruction to sustain that 20% survival rate compared with the numbers of universes which have existed.

The thing is though. The chaos king was about to wipe out the entire marvel multiverse. Theres two versions of Eternity or i guess eternities. One which is a fragment and the main body. Im pretty sure the chaos king is the latter halfs side of the same coin because the eternity we know should exist in each universe individually which means if the chaos king was just another side of the same coin on just a fragment of him i highly doubt that he would be able to pull of such an insane feat. So i think the marquis of death only summoned a fragment of eternity.

Whereas Chaos king was actively fighting against Multiversal Eternity but still managed to conquer 98% of the entire multiverse in a stupidly short time span.

The thing is that I consider it safe to presume the Marquis of Death merely used *an* eternity as his trifling plaything, and the Chaos King has technically slaughtered a literally infinite amount of those becoming no weaker for it because he is the concept necessary to even *define* Eternity, Multi Eternity, he is his other half, not just an Eternity. An analogy I find more apt to describe the Chaos King and the uncharted immensity of his power though, is that Eternity says he is the backdrop upon which he is defined. In essence, the Chaos King is not the other half of Multi Eternity so much as Multi Eternity is the *temporary* absence of the Chaos King. The Chaos King is the absence of reality, or more so reality is the absence of The Chaos King, he really is just a miniature Oblivion, and as such it's safe to surmise the acts of killing so many things that they amount to tolls without number, wreaking endless havoc, and sewing chaos about the multiverse empower him because they move the universe (multiverse really) closer to a primordial state of non-existence, his Utopia. In other words the Marquis of Death seemingly merely bends what the Chaos King subdues, devours, and wishes to see utterly gone.

Man I’m reading the comments and it’s disappointing that people are equating CK with Eternity as far as power…people keep forgetting 2 things . 1)He represents Oblivion,who is above every abstract,I’d venture to say even the LT;he’s clearly above 616 Eternity because of his multiverse feats which would suggest that he’s not simply a flip side of 616 Eternity,but likely Multiversal Eternity,and even then he’s likely above him because of his power source,and the fact that Eternity acknowledges that he could succeed and Eternity would cease to exist. 2.CK destroyed 97% of the multiverse before being tricked.CK was never killed,he was tricked and transported.That’s typically how you deal with someone that can’t be defeated.MD was however killed and the ones who killed him CK could kill as well,summon them,amp them,and kill MD in a what if battle. Chaos King I think is more powerful in battle or literal "fight" and will win squared up 1v1, but if there's no rules then Marquis of Death can just say NO and cancel him and there'd be no fight at all. Too close to say, if it were a comic though it all depends on what benefits the plot, and in the end nobody would be satisfied XD

The Chaos King never left the universe he was in - he is at most = 1 eternity ; Marquis of Death apparently obliterated many many eternities can can apparently summon and control multiple copies of anything in any reality - he could maybe even create a copy of the chaos king to battle the chaos king

Agreed it depends upon when this battle occurs. Lets assume its at the last battle before Cho tricks Chaos King into Hera's pocket dimension. The Marquis of Death is just selfish enough to think he could avoid being taken over until there was no where else to hide because there is no other reality than what's left of the 616 Earth and the Hera's pocket dimension. All of the rest of the Multiverse, time, and space has been consumed so the Marquis of Death has no place to run other than this pocket dimension. So if only Cho has the means to open the pocket dimension then the Marquis of Death has no place to go. He can't go back in time because there is no time to go back to, its all gone. so he looses like everyone else. Only if he can leave the multiverse and flee to the non-dimensions of Set, Chthon or the Many Angled Ones (who would also f.. up the Marquis of Death in their places of power where the Marquis has again no way to use his reality warping powers because they are the realities of these entities) could he escape. So if the MArquis has to face and fight the Chaos King like Hercules did (without the power of the Elder God Gaea to sustain him) the Chaos King is going to possess or destroy him with ease just like he did the Impossible Man, Satan or Nightmare.
