I think that part fo it is the fact that Anikin was very loyal. I think that the emperor took avantage of this trait in him and it remained when he turned and became Darth Vader. Also with out his wife, in whos death he had a hand it, it seems that the guilt and selfloathing that Darth Vader had were flaws that the Emperor could easily exploit to control him.

Kevin Ricard The only thing Vader managed to do was walk into a temple with an entire legion of clones behind him to kill padawans not ready for combat yet and like 2-3 jedi masters taking care of the temple. The clones did most of the work for him. In the mean time Malak fought in the Mandolorian Wars when the entire freaking galaxy was scared shitless of them. On top of that , Malak fought in the Jedi Civil War. Him and Revan fought Jedi on a daily basis which is more then Vader can boast who killed them occasionally. Malak would have much more experience fighting other force users etc. Also, I am pretty sure that over the millennia most jedi and sith teaching would become diluted,distorted and lost considering all the infighting they had. Even if Vader is naturally stronger in the force malak makes up more than enough with experience.

You used the Hayden Christensen Force ghost. :-P I get why you gave Malak the edge in Force abilities as he did have a few potentially crippling abilities against Vader, but Vader's application of the Force was more refined than Malak's. I'd say this goes to Vader 9/10 or even 8/10. Malak doesn't have too much of a chance against Vader, they are in different leagues. Vader is like a Level 8 or 9. Malak is like a Level 6 or 7. Still gooooood video fo sho my dude.

George Lucas said that Sith do not have force ghosts. That's why we see young Anakin was switched with of Sebastian's Anakin. Remember what Obi-Wan said in ROTJ: "Your father was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force. He ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and 'became' Darth Vader. When that happened the good man that was your father was destroyed. So what I told you was true...from a certain point of view." Anakin "died" when he was young and only redeemed himself at the end. Since there was no young Anakin in 1983 they just had Sebastian stand in Jedi robes.

Since he was Anakin again at that point (as you yourself said) it should be the Sebastian Shaw version that we see as the Force Ghost.

What's weird is that despite Vader's so-called weakness to Force Lightning, he was able to tank the Hell out of it a few separate occasions. One of them being during his fight with Galen Marek's clone, Starkiller. Despite how much lightning Starkiller purged into Vader at the near end of the duel, Vader was still very much alive. I suppose that it depends on the intensity of the Force Lightning. Even with Palpatine's own lightning surging throughout his mechanized veins, Vader didn't die outright and he was still able to kill the old bird.

Oh, this is a nice matchup! I've been trying to figure info out about Darth Malak for a long time! It's awesome to see someone actually take the time to figure out his lightsaber form. Though your analysis makes perfect sense-- Juyo, Ataru and Makashi are best suited to one on one confrontations, and Malak takes great pains in his first encounter with Revan, and then later with Bastila to ensure it stays a one on one duel.

***** Dooku is epic, he is freaking awesome and one of my all time faves. In fact he is my fave in the Clone Wars era. Have you read the KOTOR graphic novels? If so do you remember Malak fighting unarmed as well? And dont forget he did kill 3 jedi at once with a force choke without ever even looking their direction. On the other hand dooku tamed a Krayt Dragon. Makashi clashes with Juyo, master mind faces off against master battle tactician, fluidity vs aggression, lighting and crimson clashing on both sides. Malak has enough front line experience to be considered a veteran and same can be said for dooku. Malak is physically more fit, stronger, and resilient, dooku is able to keep calm and think ahead in a fight, sometimes leading his stronger opponent into an area he can better exploit them. It would be more of a challenge than you give dooku credit for. When Malak was finally defeated it was with the combined power of both Revan and Bastila so he is no slouch. IF malak got around dooku and grabbed him dooku would be done, if dooku can get inside the lack luster defense of juyo than malak is done, if it came to force powers they are pretty close. It would be a good one imho.

***** well in the even Dooku deflects the lightning back at him or out right uses his own Malak can stop the effects of it and allow himself to push through without physical damage or pain. This has been one reason that he was hard to take down. Another being that in hand to hand Malak is a 2 meter tall man in his prime and an expert warrior. When Anakin was fighting Dooku he was green for several of those encounters and imho it is in those instances I see Malak defeating skywalker with his higher lvl of experience. Malak is also able to easily break through other force user's force barriers and use their life essence to heal himself or just choke them or hurl them. It would be harder to do with Malak but savage did it and if Malak is using his rage, fear, and aggression to fuel it. well the only person to ever resist him then was Revan. Not a single other person was able to stop him when he tapped into his emotions. So it would be a question of is Dooku on the lvl with Revan to which I say quite possibly, yes. Believe me when I say it would be a closer fight than 8/10, try a 6/10. Dooku's main advantage would be his finesse and a slight edge to his weapon, and perhaps his willingness to compromise in a fight to exploit things in his opponent. Neither is a slouch, both were in the top tier swordsmen of their day. If we are talking Malak/Alek the Jedi then I'd give Dooku a 9/10 but Malak as a darth I heavily reduce this to a 6/10. Too many other factors to consider. At any rate its not a slaughter in favor of either, it is a lengthy duel you are going to see with two very resourceful fighters in for the long haul on this one. Be honest though, you'd pay to see this fight.

So in short, Darth Vader is a walking inteligent and skilled tank. Good to know... Suppose there is a reason he remains our favorite? Hes got class, hes cold and near impossible to beat. In hes fight with luke. I feel that it might not have been that Luke was better, rather that Luke was hes Son. And in some way that could have been a distraction. And at the point there was a conflict within him as Luke pointed out. Anakin had probably awoken at that point. Altough Vader remained in control He had to hold back Anakin wich did weaken hes senses and with that strupping him of much of hes powers. Could Darth Vader beat Sidious tough? In combat i'm sure he could... But with the Force i doubt it. Sidious actually matched Yoda. Something Darth Vader could never hope to do. Well, that's what i think atleast.

Never heard that saying. Tough i've seen Sidious fight in the movies and yes he is fast. But clearly as we have seen speed isn't everything. You could send the fastest lightsaber dualist up against the slowest and the slowest could come out as the winner. It all depends on who's actually better. Whos got more skill with the blade. Who's got the best deffence and at times nails the offence. I know Sidious is a skilled dualist and all. Clearly, he stood hes ground agaisnt Yoda wich is one of the best. But he was beat by Mace Windu. And had it not been for Anakin he would have been dead. Altough Sidious is stronger with the Force Mace had the upper hand. Sidious isn't unbeatable. Darth Vader is a pro dualist. He know all the styles, he can mix them and hes not just a brute that is all out attack and hack and slash what ever he can find. So i think Vader vs Sidious could be a interesting fight as long as they kept it to lightsaber exclusivly. But as soon as they take the Force to good use Sidious would rip Vader apart before he could Scream NOOOOOOO!

No, Revan is stronger then Vader. Revan is Master of all lightsaber forms and he is known to be one of the best Niman users. He is also master of Dual wielding and also one of the greatest force users in whole Sith history. His lightning was strong enough to burn people to ashes. Not only killing or burning their skin, but literally turning them to ashes. Also he was notorious for his tactics in battle and his intellect. He was notorious for destroying whole planets using only his force. If you need more facts of Revans power just say. I am too lazy to type more ATM there is too much that I haven't said.

Revan is most definitely the inferior duelist to Vader. Who has also not only mastered the seven lightsaber forms but taken them to their full potential, unlike revan who focused on Niman. Though Revan could break through Vader with the force admittedly so it could go either way. I could see a fight between Revan and Vader being similar to the starkiller clone's fight with Vader with Revan standing in for starkiller. Also Revan has never destroyed planets so lol, and it's not like he could use the power in combat either way. Revan could win, so could Vader. Lmao, Darth Krayt could not “overwhelm” Vader in any sense. You overhype him beyond belief. The vs video against bane is hilarious. Bane would crush krayt. Without a single debate. And so would Vader. He was back on equal footing with Palpatine by 10 or so years after ROTS. Listen carefully to what Lucas said. He most roughly 40% of his power after his injuries, and yet was still about 80% the strength of Yoda and Sidious. And he’s grew some of that power back, say half of what he lost, to get back to equal footing with Yoda and Palpatine. His only true weakness WAS lightning. And even then, if he’s getting shocked, and HE also has a force grip on the opposite’s throat.... THEY are going down. Not him.

Yep exactly. Everyone underestimates Anakin and Vader. Vader has a weakness to lightning, but only if it's EXTREMELY powerful lightning, like Palpatines. Vader took a blast of lightning from Starkillers clone and didn't even get injured. It barely stunned him for a few seconds so the clone could escape.

I'll admit I'm a Revan fanboy. But I'm not going to throw a fit because the person I like looses. EvanNova does a really good job. I was just upset that Revan wasn't explained the best in my opinion. The helmet he has is mandalorian iron. You get that in the KotOR comics. Though it was modified later on. Revan is pretty over powered. While I agree Luke would have won I just feel it should have been much closer. That's all.

Most of the characters in Kotor would not stand a chance against Vader, or Sidious. Revan might defeat Vader, but certainly not Luke or Sidious. However, the two that could very well defeat both of them, are Nihilus and Sion. Not simply due to power, but rather their oddities. Nihilus was a black hole in the force, and could instantly defeat opponents that were even stronger than he, simply from his presence. Sion, could not be killed. These two oddities would certainly be impossible for Vader, Sidious, or even Luke to defeat.

Nicolás Zan Possibly Sion, but then Sion could just dismember himself and leave the cage, like a trapped feral animal. Nihilus, however, I believe would be too powerful for Sidious to trap. His power was so great, it actually consumed him, and caused an enormous black hole within the force, that could potentially kill all living things in the galaxy, and the force itself. A mere thought, from across the galaxy, could draw him. Which is terrifying, to me. The idea that there is some unstoppable monstrosity out there, that can see your thoughts from light years away, and eat entire planets. The only way to stop Nihilus, is to share his affliction in the force. To feel so much suffering, and to be cut off from it, and live.

+Sherlock Holmes But Sidious was known as a nexus of the darkside, Nihilus fed on millions of people, but Sidious drained life from Billions of lifeforms on Byss and kept them alive by his own will as well as mind wiping billions at once. He also created a darkside nexus on Byss and create a huge dark side surge by his own powers/experiments which Nihilus never was able to do. The emperor was also immortal by using essence transfer and he could to transfer the essence of others which has never been done, so I don't think nihilus or Sion could stop that.

Revan vs Kun seems an odd match-up when one is the master of the Force, but Kun's armor and cosmetics are designed to enhance his defensive skills, and Revan's dueling expertise can still be stomped by Kun's radical duo phase style. Ulic and Malak seems like a replica of Malak vs Vader video, but more even in skill levels, but Malak has the edge in his skills with Force.

Every time I watch one of these videos, whether I like the outcome or not, it always seem EXTREMELY one sided. Evan makes a few vague comments about 1 side, then goes into extreme detail about the other. As though a fan boy of one and knowing little more then wiki info on the other. Revan Vs Luke is a good example. Vague back story about Revan, leaving out major points of his power (like being able to wipe battlefields clean, and being a legitimate general that the mandalorians praised in greatly), then Luke's back story and skill set is extreme detail. Nor taking into account that old republic jedi/sith were on a whole different lvl of power their new age counter parts. There fore comparing them in the first places is already naturally one sided. To me this does a disservice to the comparisons, and softens my nerd boner.=(

banethesithari what is your basis for the new age force users massively outclassing the the old republic lords/jedi? Because it certainly isn't based on projection, effectiveness, or diversity. No one in the new age is going around downing squads of troops by the second. (even luke needed a lot of charge up time to force pulse a company to death). On the other hand, being a maelstrom of death was a fairly common thing in the old republic. esp when your talking about people like revan, nihius, kun, vitiate, ect, ect. Someone in the new age doesn't simply spam force storm/force drain while spam screaming people into little pieces. If you get my meaning, The old republic warriors had centuries of research and tradition to go off of. holocrons to find, multiple planets dedicate to just such arts, and a plethora of people to learn from, on both sides. All most all of this being lost by the new age. Luke and a handful of others having to piece fractions of it back together to build what teachings they do have. I have personally never seen anything eluding to the newer age being even kinda more powerful. In fact quite the opposite. You do not lose massive hunks of your history, then magically gain it all back + some in a few generations. Not saying the new guys are are shit. Quite the opposite. But saying they are down right better seems more then a tad bit over kill. Who in the new era goes around draining all the force off of planets from high orbit, while driving around a derelict star destroyer with their mind? No one. dan forrester OK, first physical abilities: As novels say Darth Sidious became one with Dark Side which gifted him with potential and power needed, he augmented his abilities with his force to that level that he could slice trough 2 Jedi Councillors before they even see him, only reason Windu survived is that Palpatine wanted Anakin to see him lose to Windu (He could slice him in half before Windu would even know what is happening, as we saw that he drew his saber after Plpatine finished of 2 Council members. Reason he survived is due to Vaapad ability to turn Dark Side into its power.) Now lightsaber skill: Palpatine truly mastered all 7 forms to that level he could combine them at will and thats reason he is so good with lightsabers. We also see that he can fight multiple foes at once from his fight with Councillors in 4v1 he got all of them. Now you might say that Windu beaten him. No, Palpatine let him win to make it look like Windu wants to kill him and that he is helpless. Novels negate that by saying "In moment when Anakin cut Windus arm all fear he fell in Palpatine was gone and it was revealed that he was not scared". Now Force abilities: As I said Palpatine was that mastered in his abilities that other Sith said that he was One with the Dark Side which they didn't say for no reason. Palpatine had much power in dark side that he could kill his foes only using his lightning and that it could be compared only to Revans lightning. He had numerous other feats with force, but I didnt want to make this 3 kilometers so if you want to know more on that theme search for it on google. Yeah and also many sources say that he was the strongest Sith to ever live. Now how do I think that he could beat all of them alone. As Windus actor said "I am the second most badass person in the universe" and how novels say "Windu's skill was only second to skill of Master Yoda" and now think about it, Palpatine could kill Windu without Windu having time to lift a lightsaber and WIndu was 2nd strongest in the Order only second to Master Yoda who was also beaten by Palpatine. Not to mention that Yoda the greatest force user of the order could hardly protect himself from Palpatines force and that Palpatine dominated him. Also because of Palpatines bond with Dark Side he can drain much energy from Dark Side which gives him power to fight long without getting tired (That skill would be key to his victory). Now you may say that Obi-Wan is Master of Soresu so Palpatine could not penetrate him, even without lightning and such Palpatine would penetrate him with ease because of his mastery of all forms of lightsaber combat and as it says Soresu master could only be penetrated by Master of Vaapad which Sidious is, and to be precise his form is much based on Juyo (Vaapad is variation of Juyo that was used by light side and Juyo was used by Dark Side) by using his inner anger and turning it into power. Now I say when he would go onto killing Anakin (He would most likely try to kill them 1 by 1 and it would go in order Windu, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Anakin based on his tactical abilities say taht he would see that as best option) he would most likely try to convince Anakin to come to Dark Side, but if he refuses he would most likely use force to kill him by knowing that his Force Wall is weak. But if that does not work he could always combine it with his mastery of lightsdaber which even raged Anaking could not stop. If you need more just say.

While Darth Malak is not one of my favorite Sith Lords, at all... I think he would be challenge for Darth Vader. On Kotor I, he is a formidable opponent, even for Revan. He is an avid practitioner or Force Lighting which is a MAJOR problem for Vader. Also, I understand that Vader had to refine his style, and start from scratch, but Malak is fast and flexible. Vader is restricted by his suit, he is stiff and has to rely heavily on it. The damage he suffered, prevents the Dark Side from fully flowing through him. And yes, I agree completely with Malak using, Juyo, Makashi, and Ataru, good call. It would've taken me a while to notice that, I would've guessed Makashi and Ataru, but you've proven your point. I think this fight would come down to split second decisions. Though, I have one question. Makashi relies heavily on defense and blade word, it was designed specificaly for Lightsaber combat, so Malak had to have had some defensive movements. I remember vividly on Kotor how easily he would flip and evade strikes. That is an example of the light footing and evasion of Makashi, combined with the flips of Ataru. This would through Vader off balance. Malak also, combined force attacks with his lightsaber sequences. On the Star Forge, he would strike, then use Sith Lighting. He also used, choke, push, saber through, stun and drain. He had application just like Vader. Plus, Malak would be able to outmaneuver Vader, easily. Vader had a refined style, but Malak is no pushover.

Joseph Patt Actually, the lightning isn't as much of a problem as you would think. Darth Vader is a master at creating Force barriers, and has been known to block, negate, and even redirect Force lightning with relative ease. As for agility, Vader is DEFINITELY not stiff. He is more agile than you may think, although still not as agile as he was. But what he lost in agility, he more than makes up for in physical strength and stamina. He was incredibly strong and could break a man's neck with one hand, without the Force. He also have Force techniques that greatly enhance his strength and speed. As far as physical ability goes, both strength and agility, Vader has a huge edge despite his cybernetics. His saber form is also masterful, mostly utilizing Djem So, but also including moves from Juyo and Makashi.

Darth Malak was more powerful than Darth Revan at the end, having been empowered by the Star Forge, so if Vader is on a higher tier than Malak, he's better than Revan as well. SWTOR Revan might be different (I haven't played the game, so I don't know).

Vader's a better lightsaber-duelist than Malak overall. That much is obvious. ^ Though...Vader's been easily over-powered by aggressive opponents before. :P (I'm looking at you, Luke Skywalker & Savage Opress!) Vader's also still a capable Force-user, using it even to augment his physical capabilities... Malak's no slouch, though. His ability in the Force, as even this video implies, is something that will give Vader trouble. (Not to mention if he's aided by the power of the Star Forge) As Darth Vader...Anakin has lost some of his potential in the Force. I'd say Vader has been weakened to only 80% of Palpatine's full power in the Force, whereas his previous full potential was that he could be *twice as powerful* as Palpatine (which I believe has actually been said by Lucas himself before). I would say General Grievous, who has a very overwhelming fighting style that is difficult to defend against even when used against multiple people. Even though obi wan kenobi defeated General Grievous, he did so by being guided by the force, otherwise I don't think he would compensate for Grievous' extremely aggressive fighting style. And if Obi Wan Kenobi, one of the greatest defensive duelists couldn't defend against Grievous' flurry of attacks without guidance of the force, how could Vader who can defend well, but not as good as Kenobi. I would see Grievous overwhelming Vader, of course if we're only talking about their dueling abilities.

This is all legends content now anyway, but I'll still correct your ignorance and provide you with a sample of actual SW education. First of all, the old republic sith were piss weak compared to Palpatine and Vader. None of them ever came anywhere close to achieving the power and control those two had. Furthermore, given that Vader withstood a super-charged blast of Galen Marek's force lightning and wasn't even hurt, Malak's vastly inferior lightning would have no effect at all, and that's assuming it even gets to Vader since he can just block it with his saber. Malak hasn't defeated anyone worth mentioning in a duel, and his saber feats are grossly lacking behind Vader, who could easily take his head off before he even has time to react.

Slowey Joey I actually think that Revan could hold a candle to Vader, since Revan was able to very precisely control four lightsabers at once with the Force while still fighting with his own weapon. He could also make use of Force Storm, which is a much more advanced technique than Galen Marek's lightning; something I feel Vader would have trouble fighting against. Also, Revan's armor was made of beskar'gam, which cannot be penetrated by a lightsaber. Revan also had about the same telekinetic prowess as Vader, being able to unleash massive Force Waves.

It's always cool to see my favorite Jedi and Sith pitted against each other, as well as learning about some who I haven't heard of before or know little about. There is one Jedi, however, who I have yet to see in your videos who I would absolutely love to see pitted against anyone. I am talking about my favorite former Emperor's Hand, Mara Jade. I'm not familiar with most of her stories during and after the New Jedi Order series, but I never thought she was a slouch of any sort.
