Jimmy is wrong. The Wizard of Oz is not an allegory for America. That idea was invented by a history teacher decades after the author died. The author, L. Frank Baum, intended his work to be more about feminism. It's a consistent theme throughout all 14 of the Oz books he wrote that the men are impotent, while the women are the real power.
@kennythomson549326 күн бұрын
That isnt feminism

There's a literary theory that you can interpret things however you want and be still completely correct even if you're pulling things out of your ass and it was not intended by the author. For example Lord of the flies.
@danieldoherty4204 күн бұрын
@nybbleme Yeah, death of the author. But it definitely wasn't what the author intended, which is obvious if you view the story in the context it was written. Not to mention, if you read any of the thirteen sequels.

35:15 seems to be a theme in Canada. Don't they have a kids story called "Travel to the Sea" in which a young boy living in the wilderness carves a little canoe and rider out of wood, and positions it on a snowy slope above a frozen river during the winter. On it, he paints the message, "I am Travel To The Sea. Please put me back in the water". In the spring, the thaw comes, and the little boat slides down the melting snow, into the now-running water, and begins to make its way downstream, to the sea. But to get there, it relies on the occasional human picking it up out of some trapped position, and kindly putting it back in the water to continue its journey. At the end of the story,...well, you'll just have to go find it. I believe it's on KZbin. 🙂

Sandi, you've let yourself down by quoting "Cold Temperatures". You can only have "Cold Conditions", brought about by "Low Temperatures". Temperature is a numerical measurement of available heat, so its either, 'High', or 'Low', or an average between the two extremes. To confuse these to definitions, means you have either committed that old schoolboy howler or re-written the laws of heat and thermo dynamics.
@kylecampbell21644 ай бұрын
Frank, you've let yourself down by using the word to when you mean the word two. To means you are sending something to another place. Two means more than one but less than three. To Confuse these Two definitions mean you never learned grammar or you have rewriten the English language. What a fool you are 🙄
@vink61633 ай бұрын
I suppose by that argument there's no such thing as a bright light, only a light that has a high lux. No such thing as early hours or a sharp angle either I guess. I would argue that just like the term "sub-zero temperatures", the term "cold temperatures" is a descriptive label, referring to the group of temperatures that (in this context) humans consider to be cold. Here in the subtropics 25°C/77°F is considered a low temperature, but few would consider it a cold temperature.
@perkeyser20323 ай бұрын
Frank: Throwing stones in glasshouses much? I hate defending Sandi, but complaining about a liiiittle thing like that when you can't even spell thermodynamics correctly makes you look like a tit. Or are you Sandi's brother? That would explain why you are so annoying and shallow.

Again with the overhyped, unimpressive, pet-yourself-on-the-back-statistics : "Oo look at my rockstar engineer making one small fart margin saved per unit resulting in millions of dollars saved". That's called multiplication, every five y/o knows that. Might as well stop making aeroplanes together you'll be mighty impressed how much you'd save, both your wallet and the environment.
@vink61633 ай бұрын
You completely missed the point. It was supposed to highlight how expensive it is to move things by air, by pointing out how such a small reduction in weight can quickly add up to substantial savings in fuel costs. Stopping planes altogether is a ridiculous takeaway because then you would have no means to turn any kind of profit at all, obviously.
