what size sump were you trying to use this in? i am trying to see if it would fit in my 11"x11" sump?

I really can't remember the size but it is very close to the size of the skimmer footprint. As long as the skimmer is not touching the walls it should be ok. Mine was to close which made it loud. There are a lot of options out there for Omega money with a smaller footprint.

a skimmer should be always used in a chamber were the water lvl is constant period .

I know they come with a valve for the air, that might have been ur problem!

Yeah it does but I think the pump is just to big for the skimmers body so it makes it difficult to dial in.
