This is nice. No pin bending and even cheaper to produce. You are a genius. Thank you!

Hi there! This is an amazing solution! I got one for my 486 motherboard, and it works really nicely. Your video actually inspired me to do my own PCB design, a keyboard connector adapter between AT and PS/2, which should work both ways, so either an AT keyboard to PS/2, or a PS/2 keyboard to AT. The former i cannot test, because at the moment I dont have any AT keyboards at hand (the reason why i made the pcb in the first place). I wonder if you would like to show it off on your youtube channel, if so, then i'd gladly send you the gerber files over. I will upload it to github too eventually, but i'd like to make sure if everything works fine with it first.

How bad is it if i don't use the Diode so the Board doesn't charge the battery? I have a lot of dead OEM Socket 775 Motherboards and just took on of the CR 2032 holders from them and soldered it onto a 486 Board.

So i tested it for like an hour and it did not get hot or anything. Guess this an option temporarily?

@@xDJxGNOMx Well most batteries warning you against charging, so it might be dangerous.

Yes but how do you take the battery out the slot
@scrap_computing9 ай бұрын
You just pull it out.
@rtcxhtm9 ай бұрын
@@scrap_computing no no, I had to jam a flat head in it to take mine out, other than that it would have just been stuck
@squirlmy5 ай бұрын
@@rtcxhtm I think there's misunderstanding; you should just be able to pull the battery out in the new VBBB. For getting the old battery out of the old holder, YMMV. If you couldn't just pull it out of the VBBB, you messed up the installation somehow.

wont work in the short run battery drains fast on older motherboards and early 486 motherboards
@MauiWowie516 ай бұрын
lmao ok. they just do this to hundreds of motherboards but thanks for the info.

I think the idea is to make an easily replaceable battery in place of the old, soldered-in battery, not one that will last for years, like the original. If you do want one to work for day-to-day use for the long term, a different solution is required.
