That was a lot deeper than I expected! You have a good setup with the camera for it not to get tangled up in anything...

IT COULD GET TANGLED, BUT NO RISK NO REWARD.

Cool video! As somebody else mentioned in their comment, it is interesting that the wooden shoring is no longer present in the lower half of the shaft. I wonder why that is? It looks like you almost reached the bottom, but it’s hard to tell. The fast retreat up the shaft at the end of the video was also pretty cool the watch. Great job!

I'VE SENT THE CAMERA DOWN MANY OF THESE MINE SHAFTS IN MY PREVIOUS VIDEOS AND MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE HIT THE BOTTOM. THIS ONE WAS A LITTLE DEEPER THOUGH. I HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE IN A FEW OTHER VERTICAL SHAFTS , BUT USUALLY YOU CAN SEE THE DEBRI AT THE BOTTOM. IT'S DEFINITELY STRANGE TO SEE HOW MUCH OF THE SUPPORTS ARE MISSING, BUT YET THERES NO DEBRI THAT CAN BE SEEN. AS FAR AS THE FAST RETREAT UP I DID A VIDEO WHERE I SENT THE CAMERA DOWN AND WHEN I CAME BACK OUT I SPED THE VIDEO UP TO THE GROUND LEVEL AND FLEW MY DRONE STRAIGHT UP ABOUT TWO HUNDRED FEET. IT TURNED OUT PRETTY GOOD IT LOOKED LIKE ONE CONSISTENT SHOT FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE MINE ALL THE WAY OUT TO ABOUT TWO HUNDRED FEET ABOVE IT.

Exploring Abandoned Mines and Unusual Places “Gly”: I think they collared the shaft until they reached a point where they thought the rock was solid enough. Notice how smooth the walls of the shaft was past the collar? The ore bucket must have scrapped the sides many times to smooth that off like that. Imagine all the cool artifacts that could potentially be down there. They used to haul back up the old dynamite boxes and use them for ore sample boxes and firewood but I’ll bet there’s still a few laying around down there in good condition. One will never know.

nice work Sonny Jim....the reason for the missing Timber is most of the time when a mine is closed down for a number of reasons....the owner;s will send a team down and start the process of removing anything that can be sold or used in another mine ( i.e track, vent pipe , water lines, timber ect ) they start at the bottom and work there way up . The sets are just bolted together with hanging bolts with lap joints so not hard to do.

THANKS FOR THE COMMENT, I DIDN'T KNOW THAT. USUALLY THE TIMBERS AND SUPPORTS ARE STILL THERE OR THEY ARE COMPLETELY GONE ALL TOGETHER. I THINK WE NEED TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS ONE AND SEE WHATS DOWN THERE.

Very Cool, I'm always wanting to see a nice bottom. SO if you have the rope why not, it's part of the historical documentation.

I'LL HAVE TO GET A FEW HUNDRED FEET MORE OF ROPE BUT IT MIGHT BE WORTH SEEING WHATS DOWN THERE.

“Gly”: It looks like it had only one other drift level at the very bottom. It sure would be an exciting area to explore as I’m certain the last person down there was the miners themselves.
@mainlineprospector38135 жыл бұрын
YOUR PROBABLY RIGHT THE LAST ONE TO SEE THE BOTTOM WAS THE LAST MINER COMING OUT.

MAIN LINE PROSPECTOR “Gly”: The cutting-edge of abandoned mine exploring is going to be the first person that develops a light weight but strong winch setup to be lowered into these places safely. It’s something I may look into for the future if my channel continues to develop. Baby steps right now though.

....That's a long way down! Now I Am going to have nightmares of falling down mine shafts! Damn! Need some kind of long range tunnel drone! With lights, HD video, temperature, gas, and radiation readings! Watch for "Cryptids". Never know what kind of "unusual" critters might be lurking down there!

Its not going to look any different than what we seen. Dont waste your time. The bottom will have debris and a tunnel or not. The unusual part of the shaft is the missing shoring .

I AGREE IT IS A LITTLE STRANGE THE SHORING IS GONE. THANKS FOR THE COMMENT.
