When Madeleine says ""Too late, it's too late. There's something I must do," it hits so differently on second watch, knowing what comes later.

@Randy White Hahaha, indeed. I can only imagine he had meant TERRIFIC, instead of "terrible". Vertigo is one of my favorite movies. Great thanks for Alfred Hitchcock (for this wounderful film) and Bernard Herrmann (for this astonishing soundtrack)! :D

The funny thing is pretty much everything in this clip looks exactly like it is today. The eucalyptus forest, the mission and the livery stable all look exactly identical.

Hitchcock's Great Masterpiece. Kudos to Hitchcock, Kim Novak, James Stewart, and Bernhard Herrman who did the memorable score. None of the principals Hitchcock, Novak, Stewart nor the Picture were even nominated, seen today Oscar made a mistake.

"No one possesses you. You're safe with me". No, Madeline was not possessed by any spirit of a dead woman. The only person that wanted to possess her was Scottie. Vertigo is so much prescient about toxic masculinity and how men try to bent their desires into women, ultimately breaking them.

“Breaking them”? “Toxic Masculinity”? She was a willing accomplice to murder.. Stop it with this “woke” revisionism of classic cinema. Lols
@thibault54603 жыл бұрын
@@quigley6643 I was only giving my take on the film's themes, no revisionism here and no judgment whatsoever. I think Vertigo is a very modern and powerful movie, and it's such a powerful one because of its ambiguity. Hitchcock was well aware of the limits of masculinity and made it one of his ongoing theme in all of his movies. Scottie's obsession for Madeleine turning into the will to posses and bent a woman into the memory of another is at the heart of Vertigo. Scottie has some sort of necrophilia for a ghost image of what a woman should be, and the fact that she was an accomplice has nothing to do with this.

Umm, did you watch the movie? Madeline was never there but an actress playing copycat. She was suppose to seduce Scotty up the bell tower where he was supposed to 'witness' the suicide. However, the actress started to fall for the detective and things got complicated. Then it becomes a story of shame and consequences when the detective, who was there to be conned, finds out the truth behind the entire matter. Those fictitious fears became real when the actress is the one who dies the same way the original Madeline did. Justice comes full circle and I think the moral of this story, you can run from problems, but it ultimately leads to the same conclusion.. it'll always comes back to bite you. Also, I find it funny how you say that Alfred Hitchcock, knew about toxic masculinity.. I guess that's true, considering he was abusive himself.. He was great at his art but that doesn't make him a good person. Go look some people up before making great claims, the guy is quite the opposite. Lol!
