I did storm Dennis in winter inside a £15 2 man tent from Tesco.. it actually did well and we used it quite a few more times after. We actually only bought a new one because we wanted a bigger one

In my experience hydrostatic head doesn't have much to do with tents leaking and its more to do with build quality and design than lets down tents in the rain. One night in the rain is fun,my sense of humour starts to struggle getting into a damp kit on the second night!

Hey Chris, I reckon you're right my friend! I've had the same HH rating on different tents and others have failed faster so I definitely think you're on to something! I recieved the Tick Twisters also, very much appreciated Chris, as you say, hopefully I won't have to use them! But glad to have them if I do! You're awesome!

Put the bivi bag inside the tent under the tarp. That would give you a very good chance of staying dry.

many of these very cheap tents can be made waterproof is you use a silicone solution on the seams as well as spraying them with a cheap waterproofing aerosol. It is actually surprising how with a little effort these very light weight dome tents ( often in the ultralight 1 to 1.5 kg category) can be useful shelters for backpackers.

Best way to make sure an Ozark Trail tent doesn't leak? Put a DD tarp over it!
