Kazakhstan? Very nice!
It's a place you may have heard of, that's nicer than you ever imagined. Where you can find endless steppe, sand, and epic mountain peaks just a short drive from a modern metropolis. Where garlicky Kazakh horse sausage meets spicy Uighur noodles. Where shopping malls have sandy beaches and glass spheres dot the horizon. Where people are so friendly, you might just end up at a Kazakh toi (a traditional wedding) after a few salams (hello!). How can you describe a place this surprising in just two words? As a wise man once said, "Very nice!"

All the same, I won't be going to see Borat 2. When Cohen tricked the people of that village, he didn't just make an ass out of them, he made an ass out of all the viewers that watched, too. How am I supposed to feel good about laughing at any scene in Borat 2 when it's entirely possible (in fact, it's highly PROBABLE) Cohen might have tricked some other poor sod into looking bad for his movie? How many other people have I laughed at over the years that he's dishonestly portrayed? It's not about being angry at him, it's about feeling bad in myself.

I would definitely recommend going to Almaty before the capital Nur-Sultan (Astana) as it has all the history (the capital was only built 1996) There are lots of things that you can do, here are some: - The museums about Kazakhstan - Abay Opera House (there is a promenade with cafes, fountains and just a pleasant walk) - Great Almaty Lake - Shymbulak Ski Resort (open in summer too) - Medeu Ice Rink (highest in world) - Kok Tobe Hill (views and parks) - 1st President Park (peaceful walk, cycle) - Tradition markets Hope it helps 🙂 Kazakhstan is not well known so it’s not too touristy although tourism is growing, and people are super friendly to tourists. 🇰🇿

The food is phenomenal, the vodka wonderful, the people amazing, the women stunningly beautiful, the men fun to be around and just so, so much more. The point of making Kazakhstan seem so backwards and uncivilised, is a joke on the ignorance of the audience, who probably doesn't know much about the relatively obscure Kazakhstan, so Sacha Baron Cohen can get away with saying that they screw their sisters, and have town rapists, in Kazakhstan, because it's obviously fake, and if the audience believes SBC, that's on them for being so stupid/gullible, which is kinda clever, considering the rest of the movie is about SBC fooling other people with outrageous shit, so why not the audience?
@SereVie

Sadly mamy people actually think that Borat represented Kazakhstan. I came across comments that always mentioning Borat when "Kazakhstan" being talked about. And what Kazakhs are fighting now is that same image people have towards their country, their people and their culture.

@belgebelgravia100

@@mr_knowitall That's the point. Some would consider it slightly true, but would be so gullible, to not even try to check if the TV show and movies are correct, which they obviously aren't, which is pretty similar to the fact that most people who are interviewed by SBC, in character, don't even really try to do a background check, which could unmask SBC, pretty easily, as a troll

Did you know that Kazakhstan is a dictatorship. The past leader even changed the Capitals name from Astana to Nur-Sultan which is his from his first name Nursultan Abishuly Nazarbayev. They arrest and torture political opponents and critics of the government. Do not visit and fund that regime. Look up the Zhanazoen Massacre. The Kazakh regime also censor independant media and freedom of speech. They also violate Religious Freedom by constantly targeting minority religions. Due not travel to Kazakhstan if you support human rights.

Guys, I'm from Kazakhstan. A few true facts about this: 1. Borat-1 has NEVER been banned in Kazakhstan. Never since 2006. 2. There are no Kazakh people in Borat, there is no Kazakh language and there is no Kazakhstan at all. 3. Kazakhstan is a multinational and multicultural county. More than 130 nations of the world live here. Each nation brings a part of they culture for all. 4. Kazakhstan is a secular county. However, many religions are represented in Kazakhstan. Muslims, Orthodox and Catholic Christians, Buddhists (rarely), Judaism. In Almaty, you can find a church and a mosque on the same street. 5. Kazakhstan by GDP (PPP) more than Austria, Norway, Greece, Chile, Denmark. Kazakhstan's external debt is no more than 94% of GDP (the US has more than 149%), assets are 5 times more than external debt.We are not a poor country at all. 6. Kazakhstan has really low and simple taxes. VAT is 12%, corporate tax is 15-20%, individual income tax is 5-10%. Also for small businesses single combined tax is 3%. Unfortunately, this looks bad because there is a high level of corruption. 7. Especially for feminists: Yes, in Kazakhstan, women can drive a car, be part of the government, do business and not live in cages. Also, our women don't have any restrictions in clothing. 8. Kazakhstan is the first county in the world that renounced nuclear weapons of its own free will. Yes, we had nuclear weapons after the Soviets. 9. Our former President Narazbayev step down in 2019, after 30 years as leader of Kazakhstan. He was never been Prime Minister. 10. Kazakhstan has no conflicts with neighbors. Never. We don't engage in any wars, don't seize other countries resources and territories. We don't build a wall with our neighbors. We don't find "our oil" under another country. 11. Our politicians don't adjust their shirt or trousers in the presence of foreign journalists. 12. Monkeys don't live in Kazakhstan. But I'm not sure. Even about minister of culture. ))) 13. Many of us have watched Borat-1 and even Borat-2. Yes, we also wanted to laugh at ourselves. But we didn't see Kazakhstan there and we didn't see ourselves. We had to laugh at AySyShy (USA in Borat trascription). 14. Yes, we are strong, we can open a bottle of beer using our asshole. But we don't like shit-flavored beer, so we prefer to use a tool. ))) 15. No, I don't work for the government of Kazakhstan. I'm not a journalist. I'm not suggesting that you can fuck my sister or daughter. 16. Romania has never looked so bad as in this film, where poor romanians show what Kazakhstan might look like in alternative reality. I think Romania should have been more offended by this film than us. 17. Borat is a name that has never been used in Kazakhstan. 18. Borat help do some business in Kazakhstan. Yes, we started making toilet paper with his face on it. This is in demand. Some our guys got a good profit from this. But we will not share it with SBC, because Borat is a brand of Kazakhstan. ))) 19. US citizens don't need visa to travel to Kazakhstan. We are also open to 73 countries that don't require a visa. Welcome! 20. We are close to China, but we did not infect the world with Coronavirus. You can address these questions to the Chinese government or the US government. Today we have almost no coronavirus. No more than 10 new infections per day. This is a good result for our country. Unfortunately, we spent a lot of time in quarantine, lost a lot of money, but it has a result.
