Its good, a medium level restoration. This is another quality Japanese machine, built to last I wish I had it for my home shop. Like my previous comment on the drill press, you should consider using electrolysis and chemical methods of getting off layers of old paint, rust and grime. All electrics to be tested for current leak and integrity. Also the shaft needs to be balanced. Operators at times get metal stuck between the wheel and the holder, so bending the shaft. This creates a vibration and noise and slowly wears the bearings.

True, but then there were the other examples of how not to use tools. What's the use of buying and installing new sealed bearings if you're just going to smash them in with a mallet?

I was a little disappointed at not being able to read what was on the original name plate. I assume the information it held had been rendered unrecoverable in the past. Hmm... maybe you could have printed something on it that gave credit to the restorer, and affixed it to the motor housing. Just a suggestion. ;)

you put your self in danger of serious injury by using a "G" clamp on the grinding wheel in order to undo the nut and then reusing the wheel. there is a very good chance the wheel is now damaged and could well explode at working speed.. can be a killer.

If you don't have access to an arbor press, you can carefully tap these bearings into place. Carefully is the key word. Freeze the bearings for a couple of hours. Heat the housing with a heat gun. Find a socket that matches the outer race. Ensure the housing is clean, then set the cold bearing into place, align the socket over the outer race, and tap it until it's seated. Do not hammer on the inner race. The heat difference will allow the bearings to practically fall into place. Not a fan of the clown paint, but applaud the effort. I would have spent the time to thoroughly clean the exterior, install new bearings and wiring, polish the tool rest assembly, put new wheels on, and left the old paint alone. You could have had perfect function, and old patina.

Where is the Name Plate, and the hole for the set screws to extract the stator if the motor blows? and it will because you didn't change that weak old capacitor? Why didn't you clean the rotor and stator while you were cleaning inside the casing? The filler and potty reduced the holes size for airflow. Why did you paint where did not have any in the first place? Why did you filler and potty a bench grinder? If you don't know this.... You just created more problems than you solved, Look how easy it came apart in the first place, try doing it now. I can't like this sort of restore. "0.8/5" You did not need to rush it. I have seen you do better before.
