He passed away from throat cancer didn't he? Eerie to see him smoking...............

No, he passed away from stomach cancer

I'm not sure what type of cancer finally killed him. Margo's comment says stomach cancer. All I know is he was a heavy smoker and he did pass away from cancer only a few years after CBS cancelled his show abruptly after over 20 yrs ! I loved watching his show every Sunday night with my family as a kid in the 60s ! :-(

It was esophageal cancer and his family was reluctant to tell him, they let him think it was his usual gastric issues.
