Back around 1985 I saw a 1967 Country Squire in a parking lot here in Houston and noticed the 428 emblem on it .. I went up to it and it had bucket seats, console, all in white, power everything, factory air,, every option basically.. I left a note on it and there's a long story that goes with that but I did take some polaroids, I drove it, it drove amazing for a 148000 miles and it's on Adrian Clements 67' Ford registry though I haven't seen it since he moved to Facebook...... A short part of the long story was the lady that owned it told me that there was a nursery/garden center here in Houston that ordered 4 or 5 of them just like that as delivery vehicles and company vehicles,, that's what she was told anyway...

I worked at a Buick/Oldsmobile dealership in a small conservative town in Wisconsin. I remember lots of oddly equipped cars. For example someone ordered a Delta 88 Royale with a divided bench seat with 6 way power for the passenger side but the driver’s side was manual. An older woman ordered a 1970 Buick LeSabre with an automatic transmission, but no power steering or brakes. I was 19 and drove that one a few times when it was dropped off at her house after servicing. I could barely steer it and it stopped best with two feet. As far as this Country Squire not being delivered until the following year I remember a case where a guy ordered a really loaded ‘76 Regal, but when it came in, it had vinyl upholstery. He was a good customer so we ordered the same car in cloth. I do remember it taking into the ‘77 model year before someone bought it. Lastly, I remember a customer bringing a 1971 Pontiac Grand Ville 2 door hardtop in for service work. It had a 3 speed manual transmission. There couldn’t have been too many built like that.

Those are definitely some crazy combinations! I know where there's a 1970 Impala convertible with a lot of options, including power windows, but it has a 3 speed on the column. I should go see if that's still there.

He made me so angry he did that. That station wagon was a great car. I ended up getting a 96 Buick Roadmaster later that was much better. Last of the big station wagon my car was. Then I total it running a stop sign I did not see. I was so mad at myself for that. I love my Roadmaster. The person I hit was not hurt badly, and I was and my car totaled. That car saved me. Interesting to hear you talk about a FBMP listing. Our thought process is similar, even though your knowledge and know how is beyond mine. Growing up I always let my Drag Strip, car collecting Dad work on my car(s) because I didn't like the filth lol. I did some things and always kept his cars detailed though. That was the 60's and 70's. Getting back to FBMP, I have saved interests. There are three '78 Mercury Marquis, one a 2 door. It's triple green. One is 4 dr hdtp blue/blue/blue and the other 4 dr is a pale yellowish (forget interior off hand, probably brown). Some others until they sell. I also do the same on BAT auction site. There's a '66 Cadillac Calais selling today no reserve I'd like to have (had one in the late 80's with 57K miles). So with that said, please give us more if you wish. After some research the starter delay relay box may not be specific to just R code 428CJ engines built after 15 April 1968 so there is some debate however I highly doubt that 69 seats where installed at the factory since this car was built in Jan 69 thus 68 models were still being built. interesting discussion though.

That's my kind of wagon right there, gotta throw out a barf to the 2.80 conventional axle though. I bought the Marti report for my truck a few years back and my truck has a few more options than the Marti report said it came with. I suppose the dealer could have added options as it sat for 11 months before it was sold. It has a clock, and trip meter/tachometer package as well as a couple other options I'm forgetting. The speedometer date code is like 5 months before the sale date, so I suppose the dealer swapped the cluster for the trip/tach package. I've seen a few 428 order cars now with the 2.80 gears as optioned and just wonder why order the big engine and kill it with the overly tall gears...

Probably looking at fuel mileage. Marti definitely doesn't get everything correct. However, if your truck is an XLT Lariat and was ordered with the 506B or 507A package, the clock would have been included in that package and likely not listed as a separate option.

@@tonyscarcare5657 I wonder if there were any ‘65 or ‘66 Ford Galaxie 500 4 door hardtops that were ever ordered with the console in the middle, that would be a find of a lifetime. There were some full sized Fords in the mid 60’s ordered with a 4 speed manual, but don’t know if there were any with the console in the 4 door hardtops.

We will probably never know unless one shows up like this one.

I was talking about the starter delay relay. I had one guy driving me crazy wanting it.

The car is NOT a 'Country Squire', but a Country Sedan wagon (no shelf paper on the sides)

Did you watch the video??? Good grief, dude!!! If you did, you failed the test with an F!

Shoulda stopped heaven and earth and bought that wagon! No excuses! The unforgivable sin for a car guy, especially with a Buddy in the area. So many sleepless nights of what coulda been, it's like not asking the gal to dance at the school event before a buddy did and they lived happily ever after. No do-overs in this life and the bold will reap the rewards.

But I had just bought a very nice wagon.

I made an oops , Bob the wonder cat was helping by walking across the keyboard . Interesting car I would venture to say it passed everything but gas stations and grocery stores with the 428 and being the family truckster 😁

I'm not sure. I wouldn't think it would be that bad on gas it driven right.

Well fuel economy would suffer by my driving . With a 428 and me weighing 180 pounds and my right foot 133 by itself we don’t need no stinking fuel economy. 🤣🤪🤣
