I have a 1990 town car and the heater will blow cold air and randomly switch between cold and hot on it's own. Mostly just blows cold air though. The temperature and fan speed controls don't seem to work. Previous owner said he thought it was the HVAC control in the dash itself. Do you think that's the problem or should I check out the atc sensor in the dash or the thermal switch under the hood instead? I'm lost at where to start looking. Thanks for any help.

@@tonyscarcare5657 I changed the HVAC control's in the dash after I wrote this and that took care of the issue. At least so far it seems to work. I'll find out for sure after a few days of driving. The previous owner figured that was the issue and found another control box on eBay and included it with the car. I just needed to change it out. I was looking up videos on tearing the dash apart and found your video and thought maybe it was something else but since I had the part I figured might as well change it and see. Thank you for your response!

@@tonyscarcare5657 it was mostly just blowing cold air on high no matter what I did it wouldn't change temperature or fan speed and then randomly while driving it would start working on hot and low. I live in wny and it was January so I needed heat and I kept it on low so when it worked I could hear the change in fan speed. That only lasted a few minutes then it was back to cold and high though. After taking the old HVAC unit out the circuit board area on top is very loose and worn out. I drove it for a half hour tonight and everything worked as should.

I watch him. Sadly, he doesn't know as much about these cars as he lets on. I'll probably do a video explaining why I say that. He's just flipping these cars. May videos show people how to fix them. I've been driving them since they were new. Thank you, though!

I'm glad your parents are doing good. Those year model Town Cars were very nice in there day. I was in High School when these models came out, they are beautiful cars. I never ridden in one of that year model. I'd love to have one in mint condition. I'd take good care of it. I hope everything works out for you and your parents.

Kinda reminds me of my classic olds. It was in mint condition until I let someone use it while I was away. When I came back my beautiful classic was destroyed. And I do mean destroyed from beautiful bumper to bumper. I completely feel you on how you feel about that beautiful Lincoln. I used to have one of those. They really are a nice car.

@@tonyscarcare5657 I most certainly don't anymore. This car was so clean that you could eat off of any portion of it and not even be able to pick up a single piece of dirt anywhere. I always buffed and waxed it every two weeks. I even took the chrome off the fender wells and would clean behind them. My rear bumper was hanging halfway off as well as a dent down the whole side of it and a smashed in front and the driver's door armrest broken off. Also a greasy tire thrown in the back seat. And my exhaust was loud as hell to.

I was detailing cars in 1978 at a gas station, And got to detail a Yellow 1950's Crown Victoria for a local car lot. I don't know the exact year model. With all of that Chrome inside and out, I had never seen that much Chrome on a car. I must have used a half a can of glass cleaner. I didn't think I would ever get finished. Happy to say I saw the car at its very best. Nice and clean and very Purdy!

nice vehicle... although all that plastic and vinyl interiors... downright ugly to look at... but maybe even worse to be seated in... I guess... But, that is the american way of life... syntethic and just trying to look like something... Really, i am happy to be an european... we never did that kind of junk. (except the british with their Leyland junk in the 70-80´ties - they are all dead and gone now)....
