This is a Bulgarian Mig-23 that was stationed at Dobroslavtzi Air Base. It was the second Mig-23 fighter interceptor air base in the country. This plane was repainted originaly it had brighter comouflage and even it had the old bulgarian air force logo on it that was later repainted to the current red star. On the side of the air plane you can see that it even has the maintanance facility in Bulgaria that maintained and demilitarized this airplane before it was sold in America. There are other videos of the jet on youtube before it was repainted and the whole story of it.

I have to say the design and camouflage of the MiG - 23 Flogger looks pretty awesome, it's quite a unique looking cold war jet. I'm sure I saw a Mig-23 flying at a UK airshow in the late 80s or possibly 90s at Farnborough. Nice to see one again in this video.

@@DelsquarePhotovideo It really is quite something to see these old Soviet cold war military jets, the MIG-23 really is an incredibly striking looking aircraft in it's own right. As I remember, when the cold war ended with Gorbachev, some Russian military jets were flown over to participate at UK airshows for a few years. I think the RIAT at RAF Greenham Common was one of those, as I was there at the time. So for us aviation enthusiasts, we were in for a real treat, they were great times for sure. Sadly I don't think a Mig -23 would make it's way to a UK airshow these days, you are very lucky to have one flying over there. 👍 😎

Great, I'm very happy that this beauty with an amazing sound was able to return to the sky! I remember very fondly how they flew over my head! Yes, this MiG-23U served in the Czech Air Force, formerly the Czechoslovak Air Force. He served from 1982 at the Czech bases in Czech Budějovice and Čáslav. It was decommissioned in 1998 and on January 24, 2004 it headed to California, where it seems it is still flying today. Maintaining the MiG-23, nicknamed the "crate" in our country, is quite difficult as the age of the machine increases. This is thanks to the variable geometry of the wings, the wear of which was noticeable after years of operation. However, the lifespan indicated by the manufacturer is also reduced compared to the normal standard, I think to 17 years. Could you please do a tour of Europe and show this cuddly old place, I'd love to come and see again :-) Anyway, good luck keeping it in the air for as long as possible, I'm looking forward to more videos at least! So true each one from the Mig-21 Fishbed to the Su-22 Fitter and Mig-29 Fulcrum and Su-27 Flanker and others in between they looked like you said Killing machines. Sorry but US planes look like toys and not a brut looking as Soviet/ Russian Planes IMPO. My Tie for favorite Jet Fighters all time is The Mig-23 Flogger and SAAB Viggen. Two brut looking Planes and just pleasing too the eyes.

Yes, not necessarily russian but that's no secret, all of those are privately owned. These private companies like "Draken" and "ATAC" just to name a few, have contracts with the air force and sometimes train together in exercises like "Red Flag" at Nellis AFB, Nevada.
