It's not overly complicated but obviously useful in some applications. Recommend that this only be used indoors. 😊

Beautiful restoration job. That is one of the rarest types of padlocks I have ever seen, one ones with keys that screw in to unlock by pushing back the spring-loaded sliding latch. Those padlocks must have been among the first locks to be opened in this way. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. You might want to paint it or apply rust converter solution to prevent it from rusting again. Anyway, excellent work.

Thank you for your kind words and valuable advice! I'm glad you appreciated the restoration. I'll definitely consider using a rust converter solution to protect the lock from future corrosion. It's great to hear from someone who recognizes the uniqueness of these old padlocks

Mixing acetone and transmission 50/50 makes a great homemade penetrating oil and it's very thin to get into those very small cracks and threads

@aahands10 күн бұрын
Thank you for your kind words! The lock is indeed quite old, estimated to be from the late 19th to early 20th century. We’re glad you enjoyed the restoration

when you said alchemical about the key it kind of reminded me of possibly Masaonic Lodge key and lock as for the flower symbol its either a daidy or an aster but masons used the forget me not until 1948.

"Thank you for sharing that interesting insight! The connection to Masonic Lodge keys and the floral symbolism is fascinating. I wasn't aware of the specific flowers and their historical significance to the Masons. Your knowledge adds a rich layer of context to the restoration project."

I only know two countries that have a symbol like that , one is India in the centre of their flag and the other is Japan with the Emperors 16 leaf crysanthemum ?
