Restoration of an old wooden alarm clock from the 1930s , Mercedes brand

Hello friends, in this video I have decided to completely restore a very old alarm table clock, this clock was made in Germany in the 1930s, the am wood frame is rotten and broken, and the clock is full of dust and out of order, and its glass It's broken, I hope I can restore it to its glory days and I hope you enjoy watching this video. Da ich von Stuttgart/Deutschland bin, kenne ich das Mercedes-Museum. Ich kann mich aber nicht erinnern, dass dort auch Uhren ausgestellt gewesen seien. Allerdings gibt es heute Armband-Uhren vom Autohersteller. Ob es 1930 schon Uhren gab, weiß ich allerdings nicht. Verdächtig finde ich das Fehlen des Mercedes-Sterns als Logo, welches seit 1916 benutzt wird. Vielleicht gehe ich am Wochenende ins Museum auf der Suche nach Uhren 😂

Great restoration. I think view A is best as it is how the original clock would have looked (although it seems it may have been painted black - or perhaps was just very dirty). I noticed that when you had cleaned the clock mechanism there was a little bit of rust on the pinions. It may be just moisture in the air of course. But if, after cleaning with gasoline and the the soap solution, you could try immersing in IPA which will drive away any water. The movements of the old Timex watches are treated in this way as they are very difficult to take apart and re-assemble (and not normally worth the effort to try!).

Was this made by the car company or does it just have the same name?? I've never heard of this brand. I did google it and the ones they made in the 30's look a lot more beautiful than this plan looking one Plus they were all a lot bigger then this one It looks great and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!!! So you googled for a 8mm glass, found a 13cm glass on Ebay and ordered it, and then received a 8cm glass from a children's clothing webshop in Iran? Also the inside of the clock is all rusty. This clock will stop working at any time soon. You should use clamps when you glue the wood. The A side was more classy, but for me personally I would never have a gold clock in my house. Looking forward to your upcoming videos and see you become better and better! Thank you for the video!

Thank you for the comment and it is clear that you paid a lot of attention, for which I appreciate you. What I showed on Google did not actually happen and after a few more searches, I found it because the video was getting too long, so I deleted it in relation to the friend clip. I am trying not to do repetitive work to make it more attractive for the viewer. Regarding the rust, unfortunately it rained on the engine the night before and caused it to get wet and rust. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to clean it again, but I had to do it.🌹

It looks great to me! Lovely restoration but a little concerned that the clock mechanism now looks rusty? After you cleaned and dried it maybe it should have been coated in a very light thin machine oil. Cheers from Australia 🤗🇦🇺

Yes, you are absolutely right. After cleaning it, I put it under the sun to dry, but it rained during the night and it got wet and some rust was formed. I must reformed it soon❤❤❤

I liked the video and the transformation of the clock from start to finish. Everyone has their own style on doing projects and may do this project differently from the way you did it.
