Very Rusty Hammer Restoration

This video shows the restoration of a very rusty old hammer. I found this hammer in the woods and decided to restore it. Removed the rust and made a new handle. This hammer is more than 100 years old. I hope you liked my restoration.

Some people may not understand, but saving and giving life to a tool like that, is more than just salvation....it's a beautiful work of art as well. That hammer can continue to be useful for another 100 years. I could only imagine if that was someone's granddad or even a great granddads hammer and being sentimental to someone.

Beauty! I think the handle should be tapered where it enters the eye. Looks like it wasn’t able to get 100% purchase for some reason, so there’s a bit of a gap under the head. Not a big deal of course, but next time… ;)

You have lots of fun projects in that rust pile. But, why not just soak the hammer in vinegar, and then use a spinning steelbrush with an anglegrinder... Removes rust super easy. Nice hammer in the end. =)
