I found an old rusty pocket knife in the woods. In this video, I showed the restoration of a rusty pocket knife. I really enjoy restoring knives. This knife was made in the period 1960-1980. I removed the rust and made a new wooden handle. I hope you liked my restoration.

Без родных накладок нож теряет аутентичность. Тем более, они были целыми. Техника выполнения, как всегда, на высоте. Но родные накладки всегда нужно оставлять.

Солидарен полностью. Но бывает, когда при рассверловке ножа для разборки накладки приходят в негодность. Ну если неаккуратно рассверлить. Обратил внимание, что Клинок не сточен. Просто у меня есть такой нож... Если б не ржавчина, уверен был бы как новый.

I’d have kept the original scales. What’s the point of “restoring” something if you’re going to throw part of it away when it’s in perfectly good condition. More of a rebuild and lost all the retro look and value of the old knife.

Nice refurbishing knife project. The bolsters look very good. If you have access to a welder setup, next time try filling in the pits in the blade itself and than file and polish it to a mirror finish. That would be awesome if that world worked out well. Just an idea... Thumbs Up!

That directional grain on the elm wood works beautifully. The original scales were nice, but you can always save them for a future knife. One commenter seemed to be bothered about you losing the Russian character of the knife, but I can quite understand you perhaps being somewhat lukewarm about that right now. Nicely restored, anyway. I love that blade shape. Very potentially useful.

Thank you. In the Soviet Union, scales were made of cheap plastic. It is not of high quality. So I made scales out of wood

В детстве у меня был такой нож, притины там были из нержи, да и в целом он плохо ржавел. Признавайтесь чем вы так старите вещи😁

я в лісі його металошукачем знайшов. Грибники загубили. Всі радянські ножі дуже ржавіють, якщо "злазить" нікельоване покриття. У цьому ножі нічого з нержавійки немає. В мене є відео на каналі з ножами де були екстрактори з нержавійки

@@ReXtorer ну, можливо, цей ніж вже після розпаду, з такіми накладками з'явились в самому кінці 90-х. До того були з гладкіми накладками різних кольорів, в мене був з зеленими, в одного бачів помаранчеві. Дуже мені подобалась форма цього ножа

@@user-bh5ej8vu2l можливо, цього вже не знаю… але знаходив такі часто. Дуже тонке лезо в них… і ті пластикові накладки дуже крихкі з часом робляться. Чесно, вже більше десятка ножів робив радянських, то на данний час самий кращий був ніж з накладками з зубрами. Всі елементи грубі, лезо велике.

The scales need to match the thickness of the bolster. That’s the only thing I see wrong with this restoration. More time is needed on the belt sander.

Well, to be honest… not great. That blade needed fill welds then grinding and polishing. You didn’t touch the finger nail catch on the blade at all. Looked like you polished the rust. Also there are many, many choices better than vinegar to remove rust. Good wood work, but you got a ways to go at this game.

Как всегда изуродовали нож, деревянными накладками. Смотреть не хочется! Ну если не хочешь полностью воссоздать нож СССР. Ну тогда нужно сделать Стоун вош. Латунные накладки. Вот это будет проект!
